Visa and Permit for Sikkim Travel
All foreigners except nationals of Nepal and Bhutan require a passport with an Indian visa before arrival. Visitors need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Sikkim. An ILP is valid for 15 days and can be extended twice by the state government for 30 days each. ILP is available on Indian Visa basis at all Indian Missions, Sikkim Tourism Offices in New Delhi, Kolkata, Siliguri and Sangpo Tourist Lodge.
A trekking permit is required for every trek to any region in North-East India. Trekking holidays are permitted only in groups (minimum two persons) and must be arranged through an authorized travel agent.
