Peaks of Rolwaling | Rolwaling Mountains
The Government of Nepal has opened 414 peaks for mountaineering in Nepal, up from 326 peaks in 2014. Many of the newly opened peaks are in the Rolwaling Glacier. These peaks of Rolwaling are open to all climbers and have seen very few peaks so far.
Rolwaling is a remote mountain valley (4000 m altitude) located northeast of Kathmandu, close to the Tibetan border and west of the Khumbu region.
Rolwaling Valley has more than 20 peaks above 6000 meters which are open for professional climbing. For anyone looking to climb lesser-climbed peaks, Rolwaling peak would be an ideal choice. The Rolwaling Ice Range lies between Langtang and Mount Everest. The main settlement of Rolwaling, Beding village can be reached by a 4-day trek from Kathmandu.
Of all the peaks in Rolwaling, only three are classified as NMA trekking peaks and all the rest are considered climbing peaks. Permits are issued by the Department of Tourism for climbing peaks.

The peaks of Rolwaling are the least known peaks of Nepal but offer a great climbing experience. As other peaks in Nepal have become highly commercialized, famous alpinists are often found exploring new routes on these peaks.
