First Solar Project in Mirge
In 2019/2020 the German University of Advanced Science HFT-Stuttgart’s first solar project took place in Dolakha Mirge, a Nepali village a day’s bus ride from Kathmandu. Together with students and colleagues we have installed 98 small photovoltaic systems in villagers’ huts and houses. Ram from AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions and I met on a trip to Leh Ladakh India and we became close friends and it was our projects where Ram did all the local projects – and he did it very well! He arranged the entire travel arrangement, hotel stay in Kathmandu, full catering support for tent stay in Mirge, as well as technical equipment to be purchased locally from Nepali dealers. Ram is a perfect and absolutely reliable organizer. In addition, the heart-to-heart relationship with Ram and his entire family grew during the project, resulting in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.
