Difficulty of Ama Yangri Trek

Each day involves a 12-kilometer hike, lasting approximately 5 to 6 hours, with the highest point of the trek reaching an elevation of 3,371 meters (11,059 feet). Best Seasons for Ama Yangri Trek

The Ama Yangri Trek is available throughout the year, but the best time to join is in the fall (September to November) and spring (March to May). During the Ama Yangri Spring Trek, you can witness blooming rhododendron forests, experience stable weather conditions, enjoy pleasant temperatures, and have clear skies with stunning views. Likewise, the Ama Yangri autumn trek is exceptional due to the favorable weather, comfortable temperatures, and clear skies. The itinerary included in the package offered by AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions is a guideline and standard format, which can be modified according to your time and needs.
The itinerary can be changed after mutual understanding between AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions and the client. Additional activities can also be added or subtracted as per the client's request before the tour confirmation.
If the client wants to add some services, we will charge him for those additional services and if he wants to subtract some services, we will remove the charges accordingly.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. After completing visa formalities and collecting your luggage at the airport, please exit the arrival hall. Your tour leader will be waiting for you just outside the arrival hall and will take you to hotel in Kathmandu. Please look for a placard with your name on it at the exit of the arrival hall. Then depending on the time, you will have time to walk around the hotel and familiarize yourself near hotel.

Day 02 :

Visit the heritage sites of Kathmandu

Today is a full-day Kathmandu tour; in which you will explore various UNESCO sites in Kathmandu. We will start our tour with a visit to Pashupatinath, the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal. We will witness the Hindu cremation ceremony at Aryaghat, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. And we will visit Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. We can see the rich Tibetan culture at Boudhanath. Similarly, we will end the day’s tour by visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square, the old royal residence of Nepal.

Day 03 :

Drive to Timbu from Kathmandu

After a delicious breakfast in Kathmandu, you will proceed to Thimphu. Kathmandu is only 60 km from Thimphu and it takes about 3 hours to reach Thimphu by private vehicle via Melamchi Helambu Road. Upon reaching Thimphu, you will prepare for the next day, and at leisure, you can explore the village. And spend the night in Thimphu.

Day 04 :

Trek to Tarke Gyang from Timbu

Early in the morning, you will have a light breakfast and proceed towards Tarke Gyang, a beautiful village settlement in the Helambu region. The route winds through lush green forests and offers breathtaking views of the mountains and sparsely populated villages. After a 4-5 hour trek, you will reach Tarke Gyang. It is a beautiful Buddhist village, also known as the gateway to Ama Yangri Peak. Then spend the night at Tarke Gyang.

Day 05 :

Trek to Ama Yangri and back to Tarke Gyang

After spending some quality time in the unspoilt valley of Tarke Gyang, today you will ascend to Ama Yangri Peak. It takes about 4 hours to climb Ama Yangri Peak from Tarke Gyang. The route passes through a lot of forest and gradually reaches the peak from where you can enjoy incredible views of the Helambu region and the snow-capped peaks. There are no tea houses along the way, so it is better to carry some lunch packed and enough water. After admiring the view it offers, you will slowly descend to Tarke Gyang. You will spend the night at Tarke Gyang.

Day 06 :

Trek to Sermanthang from Tarke Gyang

On the six day, you will go to Sermanthang. Today is the last leg of this amazing trek. This trek is relatively easy compared to the previous days. The path surrounded by jungle, chortens, waterfalls and lush green forest will take you to a small village called Gangyul. From Gangyul, slowly descend through the jungle to Sermanthang. Spend the night in Sermanthang.

Day 07 :

Drive to Kathmandu from Sermanthang

Finally, you will return to Kathmandu. It takes a few hours to reach Kathmandu from Sermanthang by private vehicle. We will drop you off at your hotel. You can relax and do some souvenir shopping. In your free time, you can wander and explore the Thamel neighborhood. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

Day 08 :

Day 09 : Departure, or join optional activities

After breakfast and on your last day in Kathmandu, we will be ready to take you to the international airport three hours before your scheduled flight. It is a great honor to meet you in the Nepal Himalayas, and we pray for your safe journey home. We will remember the wonderful times we spent together. Have a nice trip!!! ACCOMMODATION

We will stay in Kathmandu at Hotel Vajra or similar category, which is a standard tea house/lodge during the trek, and this is all included in the cost of the trip. However; during the trek, your accommodation will be in simple teahouses/lodges with basic and shared facilities.

Most teahouses/lodges in the Helambu region have squat toilets: most bathrooms are usually shared but we will arrange for you and your group to stay in local lodges on a daily basis. Please note that some of them are very basic and a sense of adventure is required.

In Kathmandu, your accommodation will be on a twin-shared basis and if you wish to have a single room, upon request you will need to pay a single supplement as mentioned in the trip cost. However, please note that there are less teahouses along the trekking route that do not allow single room accommodation. Paying a supplement guarantees a room in Kathmandu, but this may not always be possible in trekking areas. It’s generally impossible to arrange private rooms. This is the case even if you’re willing to pay extra since the teahouses owners will not give out a private room if it means someone else goes without a room.

MEALS ON THE TREK

During the trek, we will serve typical Nepali food, various ethnic dishes as well as all kinds of international dishes (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, and so on, Indian cuisine) from pizza and chips to apple pie. And breakfast includes bread, eggs, pancakes, muesli, granola, konflux, porridge as well as tea, coffee and hot milk with fresh fruits. Similarly, hot lunch will be served on the way to our next destination. Upon reaching the destination, meals and breakfast will be served at the teahouse/lodge where we will spend the night. However, in Kathmandu, we will only provide breakfast. Because you can taste the food you like, as there are high-quality delicious foods from different countries available. Therefore, you will have to arrange your own lunch and dinner during your stay in Kathmandu.

DRINKING WATER

We provide boiled water for drinking purposes in all our teahouses/lodges or camping treks. We strictly discourage the use of single-use plastic bottles such as mineral water on all our treks. Therefore, it is highly recommended to carry a hot water bottle. And you can ask your staff to fill the bottle with water.
