Annapurna Circuit Trek via Tilicho Lake - 19 Days

Annapurna Circuit Tilicho Lake is an awesome combination of trekking in the Annapurna region. The Tilicho Lake is situated at 4,920m, from the sea level. The circuit trek around the Annapurna with Tilicho Lake is one of the most renowned treks in Nepal with dramatic deep gorges, desolate high mountain passes, relaxing hot spring, Buddhist and Hindu temples, delightful farming villagers and at every turn a different view of the Annapurna. This is a rewarding trek where you will be able to view panoramic scenario of Himalayas, including of the Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091 m) Mt. Manaslu (8163 m), Mt. Annapurna II (7937 m.) , Mt. Annapurna III (7555 m), Mt. Annapurna IV (7525 m), Mt. Annapurna south (7219 m), Mt. Nilgiri (7041 m), Mt. Fishtail (6998 m), Mt. Hiunchuli (6441 m), Mt. Lamjung Himal (6986 m),Touché peak (6920 m), Tilicho peak (7134 m). We Will Get a Chance to learn about the Tibetan way of life that strongly runs in Mustang valleys. The Circuit takes you towards rice paddy fields, sub-tropical forests, rural farmland and glacial zones. There is a small chance of seeing a snow leopard in Yak Kharka along with blue sheep. We capture out the beauty of the blue icy lake of Tilicho, Tilicho Lake reflects the surrounding mountains which are a truly unique and beautiful sight to see.

We Continue the trail and head to Thorong la pass at the top of the valley at 5416 m high. Due to the difficulties of crossing the pass, the circuit is usually walked in a counter clockwise direction. The crossing of the Thorong La pass (5,416 m) is a challenging ascent, surrounded by some of the most magnificent mountain views. We head down To Muktinath. This magnificent trek leads you to the fine village inhabited by a wide diversity of people from different ethnic groups, offering spectacular and majestic view of the white Himalayas. Day 1
Day 01 : Arrival at Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport, transfer to hotel by our representative.

You will be welcomed by our representative of Alpine Treks at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu after you arrive but assure about our representative with a display board at the arrival gate. You will be then taken to the hotel.

Day 3
Day 02: Drive to Khudi (792m), 7 hrs drive, overnight at Lodge.

After we have our breakfast, today we will drive to Khudi taking 6 to 7 hours. On your arrival at Dumre, you will feel the beginning of your trek. You will be driving to the Marsyangdi river valley then move to Besisahar and ultimately proceed to Khudi. Overnight at Khudi.

Day 4
Day 03: Trek to Bahundanda (1314m), 5 hrs, overnight at Lodge.

15km From Khudi, today the track moves north above the Marsyangdi river after crossing bridge. We will be noticing the change in bio diversity and panoramic landscape. Going across the river to its east shore you will come across the village of Bhulbhule and then moving north, our path follows passing Ngadi (930 m.). We reach to the edge and see the settlement of Bahundanda (1311 m.) which in Nepali means “Brahmin Hill”. Overnight at Bahundanda.

Day 5
Day 04: Trek to Chyamje (1400m), 5 hrs, overnight at Lodge.

We move down to the valley floor departing from Bahundanda. After that, we cross the river, go up steeply to continue walking on a trail wonderfully engraved out to the wall of the rock. Then, we reach Syange going across Ghermu Phant and Khani Gaun. We then move on walking to Chyamje next to the west shore of the Marsyangdi River passing through the village of Jagat.

Day 6
Day 05: Trek to Dharapani (1943m), 5 hrs, overnight at Lodge.

12km You will keep on noticing changes in the landscapes, people, culture and architecture as we move ahead from Chyamje. Here, we will see people of Tibetan origin their culture; houses made of rock, less tropical plants and more. The track from Tal comes across the Marsyangdi River after Karte settlement and proceeds towards the Dharapani village. Overnight at Dharapani.

Day 7
Day 06: Trek to Chame (2713m), 5-6 hrs, overnight at Lodge.

15km We depart from Dharapani, you keep on ascending the river valley passing the Gurung Village, Thonje and then reach Bagarchhap. Walking further, along the left shore, we ascend up to Manang valley passing through small settlements with terrific views of Mt. Manaslu (8163m.) and the mountains over Larkya La pass. Overnight at Chame.

Day 8
Day 07: Trek to Pisang (3185m), 4/30 hrs, overnight at Lodge.

16km We will be walking along the trail which takes us up to Chame. We will come across the forests of Juniper, Pine, above fairly plane ground all the way through Bhratang village. We will witness a superb view of Annapurna II to south. Overnight at Pisang.

Day 9
Day 08: Trek to Manang (3540m), 4 hrs, overnight at Lodge.

Today, we continue our trek to Manang valley. We take a stable way up to reach to the top and witness the view of the Manang valley. This exciting spot offers superb views of the valleys, the great peaks of Gangapurna, Tilicho Annapurna II, III, Chulu east and Pisang peak. The walk takes us further to Humde and then we have a pleasant walk up to the village of Braga and walking further we reach Manang where we stay overnight.

Day 10
Day 09:  Acclimatization at Manang (day hike to Chonkor View Point - 3800m, and to the monastery),

Today we have an acclimatization day and to explore Manang. We might go to Chonkor View point (3800m.) and go around the village of about flat-roofed houses which is the arresting set surrounded by some magnificent scenery -Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Gangapurna to the South, Tilicho to the West – Chulu West and Chulu East to the North.

Day 11
Day 10: Trek to Khangsar (3756m),  3/30 hrs, overnight at Lodge.

After having a rest for a day in Manang, today we make our way to the Tilicho Lake, located on the west of Manang all the way down to the river. After coming across the Khangsar Khola, we arrive at Khangsar and move to the village region which is traditional Tibetan type.

Day 12
Day 11: Trek to Tilicho Base Camp (4200m), 3 hrs, overnight at Lodge.

We depart from Khangsar passing a Gompa and our path moves ahead towards a high ridge. One trail maintains the elevation, crossing the inclines to the narrow valley; the next one ascends towards the ridge. The first one is the older path, and is challenging one as it goes on really vertical; the later one is the new trail that has comparatively easy path. Following the new path, we reach a high ridge, and move down to a side gorge of the major valley. At its base is a stream. On the next side, is a construction recognized as the Tilicho Base Camp at height of 4,200m.

Day 13
Day 12: Trek to Tilicho Lake (4919m), 3 hrs and back to base camp, overnight at Lodge.

Today in order to avoid the wind, we move early in the morning. From Tilicho Base camp to the Tilicho Lake, it takes around 3-4 hours. Tilicho Lake is a freezing desolate place in the afternoon and recognized as highest lake of the earth. Then, we will go back to Tilicho Base Camp.

Day 14
Day 13: Trek to Yak Kharka (4000 m), 5 hrs, overnight at Lodge.

Today, the track leads to the Tenki Manang where we can spot the view of the Annapurna, Tilicho peak, Gangapurna and more. The track relaxingly winds up presenting views and passing through land filled with juniper bushes, the only existing vegetation around this area and then you will reach at Yak-Kharka for the overnight.

Day 15
Day 14: Trek to Thorong Phedi / high camp (4500m/ 4700m), 4-5 hrs, overnight at Lodge.

From Yak Kharka, we start our trek with slow pace to reach Phedi which means ‘foot of the hill’. We still have same splendid view of peaks and landscapes. After an hour trek, we arrive at Ledar and go on to mount along the east shore of the Jorsang Khola, then descend and cross the river on a bridge. We stop for superb view and tea; we go across a narrow path, uneven incline before reaching to Thorung Phedi. Overnight at Thorung Phedi.

Day 16
Day 15: Trek to Muktinath (3800m), after crossing Thorong La pass - 5416m, overnight at Lodge.

We today, have best and challenging day of the entire trip. We start our walk early in the morning. Today, our track turns out to be the steepest reach at high camp. We will be viewing sunrise and scenes of the mountains. We keep on walking to the top taking 3 to 4 hrs to the top of the Throng. Here, we can take break for striking scenery and move downward to the Mustang and then to the Kaligandaki valley far below to the West. Finally, we arrive at Muktinath after around 7 to 8 hrs long walk. Overnight in Muktinath.

Day 17
Day 16: Trek to Jomsom (2800m),  6 hrs, overnight at Lodge.

We visit Muktinath temple in the morning and move down to the Kaligandaki river valley. We follow the calm trail for two hours till we reach the large city of Jomsom and headquarter of the Mustang region with a small runway just over the Kaligandaki River. Here we’ll stay overnight at guesthouse.

Day 18
Day 17: Drive to Pokhara (900m), 8-9 hrs, overnight at hotel.

We today take a flight from deepest canyon of the world lying between two gigantic mountain range of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Dhaulagiri with many snow-topped peaks. We will take driving down to Pokhara by bus if in case the flight delay or cancelled due to bad weather.

Day 19
Day 18: Drive Back to Kathmandu, 6-7 hrs, overnight at hotel.

Passing all the way through the striking countryside early in the morning and travelling for 7 hours we return back to Kathmandu. On arrival at Kathmandu you will be transferred to the hotel and rest of the day rest or explore the surrounding areas and overnight at hotel.

Day 20
Day 19: Transfer to airport, departure to your own destination.

This is your last day, our airport representative of Alpinetrav Treks and Expeditions will drop you to the airport and you will depart from Nepal.
