Annapurna Ghandruk Trek is one of the popular trekking trails in the Annapurna region that offers an introduction to Nepal with splendid scenery, enticing Gurung culture, and stunning views of mountains. The 9 days Annapurna Ghandruk Trek starts with your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, and a visit to some of the UNESCO enlisted world heritage sites in the valley like Swyambunath, Boudhnath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. Leaving behind the valley, the trip continues with a scenic flight to the lake city, Pokhara, followed by a short drive to Kimche via Nayapul. The trekking journey begins in Kimche to reach the wonderful village of Ghandruk, which is the largest Gurung village in the Annapurna region. The trail follows flag-stone steps that go through densely forested paths filled with rhododendrons, oak and pine trees.

The Annapurna Ghandruk Trek passes through several traditional villages like Chomrong, Landruk, and Dhampus inhabited mostly by the Gurung community. This trek provides you an opportunity to learn and understand the rich culture and tradition of the Gurung people living in this area. Not only this trek entices you with rich culture, it also offers a spectacular view of snowy mountains such as Annapurna South (7219m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and many other peaks. Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu (1,350m) and transfer to Hotel.
Day 2: Full Day Guided Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu Valley
Day 3: Fly to Pokhara and drive to Kimche and trek to Ghandruk 1-2 hours
Day 4: Trek to Chomrong (2170m) from Ghandruk 4-5 hours
Day 5: Trek to Landruk (1565m) from Chomrong 5-6 hours
Day 6: Trek to Dhampus (1650m) from Landruk 5-6 hours
Day 7: Trek to Phedi (1130m) 2-3 hours and drive to Pokhara 1 hour
Day 8: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist bus.
Day 9: Drop at the airport for the final departure.

  • The price shall be adjusted in our mutual understanding; if the client intends to add some services, we shall charge for those additional services, if intends to lessen some services, we shall wave the charges accordingly.
  • The itinerary is published in full board operation services for a clear understanding of the client. But, required for Trekking cost depends on porter request or exclusion too.
  • The above offer price is full board standard format of itineraries which are all inclusive. But, the cost depends also on request category hotel accommodation in Kathmandu or Pokhara.

Details Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our staff member will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel Vajra in Kathmandu. Rest of time explore Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and Pashupatinath (sacred temple dedicated to Lord Shiva).

Today our guide takes you around Kathmandu valley to visit some of the UNESCO enlisted world heritage sites that includes Boudhanath Stupa (largest stupa in Asia), Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and Pashupatinath (sacred temple dedicated to Lord Shiva).

We fly to Pokhara early in the morning relishing an amazing view of majestic mountains from Ganesh Himal to Annapurna, Manaslu, and Langtang ranges. We take a short drive to Kimche from Pokhara via Nayapul. From Kimche, we start to trek towards Ghandruk, which is the largest Gurung village in the Annapurna region. We ascend towards Ghandruk walking on stone steps, enjoying the beautiful landscape in the background. Ghandruk offers a great view of Annapurna South (7219m) and Machhapuchhre Himal (6993m). Overnight at a lodge in Ghandruk.

Leaving Ghandruk behind, today we trek towards Chhomrong passing through several villages and small streams. We then ascend through a stone staircase that leads us to Kimrung Danda, which offers an up-close view of Annapurna South (7219m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), and Hiunchuli (6441m). From there, we descend to Kimrung Khola through a forested path filled with oak and fir trees. After crossing the suspension bridge, we make a steep climb up to the ridge to finally reach Chhomrong. Overnight at a lodge in Chhomrong.

Today the trail descends steeply to Jhinu Danda, which is known for its natural hot spring. We continue to descend steeply to the small stream and walk through the bushes of nettle till we reach New Bridge. We cross the bridge over Modi Khola and continue to walk alongside the river. We also come across several small waterfalls, hanging beehives in the rock walls, and hanging bridge on our way to Landruk village. The picturesque Gurung village serves an amazing view of Machhapuchhre (6993m) and Hiunchuli (6441m). Overnight at a lodge in Landruk.

Today we head towards Dhampus village slowly climbing up until we reach Tolka. We continue to ascend on a steep slope for a while and later follow the zigzag trail through the forest towards Deurali. We pass through Pothana then descend gently on the stone steps until we reach the village of Dhampus which offers amazing sunset and sunrise over the mountains. Overnight at a lodge in Dhampus.

Leaving the beautiful Dhampus village behind, we head towards Phedi descending on the stone staircase through the forest filled with oaks, rhododendrons, and pines. Accompanied by the stunning mountains in the background, we make our way to Phedi. From Phedi, we take a drive back to Pokhara on the private jeep. In the afternoon, we go for a boat ride in Phewa Lake.

Today we will drive to Kathmandu from Pokhara. We grab seats on the left aisle of the tourist bus for the best views of the white water rafting river (Trisuli river) along the highway because it’s today our last time we’ll probably see them. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we get transferred to our hotel; and we spend the day at our own leisure.

  • According to the trip program, AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions arranged flight tickets from Kathmandu to Pokhara for trekking members.
  • Transportation will be included during the trekking and major city for members as per the itinerary above.
  • AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions will provide you with a clean and cozy teahouse/lodge to stay in and eat during the trekking.
  • Most of the trekking trail, lunch is done on the way between the starting and ending the day of hiking while dinner and breakfast at the teahouse/lodge where you have overnight stay. AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions provides a fresh breakfast, lunch, and dinner with tea/coffee at the tea house's menu throughout the trekking. (clean, Nutritious, and fresh food)
  • AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions allow up to 15kg of personal trekking equipment per person during the trekking period carried by porters or mules.
  • As Annapurna Ghandruk is at the Annapurna region territory, AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions provide you a permit for Annapurna conservation.
  • The Trekkers' Information Management Systems permit issued by the trekking agency association of Nepal is necessary to enter the area of Annapurna Conservation, so AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions provide you a TIMS permit too.
  • AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions provides all wages, equipment, and insurance for elaborate trekking staff.
  • AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions provide first aid medical kits for the group and the staff, taking care of your trekking and health safety.

Cost Exclusion

  • Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal and Pokhara is also the second city of Nepal. Since this citys offers high quality and delicious food from different countries and groups, we were hoping you could taste the meals you like. For that reason, during your stay in Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will have to arrange lunch and dinner (except the farewell dinner).
  • Suppose you want to take any packed food, snacks, drinks, energy drinks, mineral water, and carbonated soft drinks, any types of alcohol, cigarettes, chocolates, and nutria-bars during the trek. In that case, you have to buy it yourself.
  • Expenses incurred towards usage of Items of personal trekking equipment, laundry expenses, tips, Landlines, mobiles, satellite phones, and the internet service exclude in the package.
  • Trekking is an adventurous activity that always takes place in remote areas. So, safety is the primary factor for us. Therefore, you have to have your travel insurance covering the cost of emergency rescue, medical treatment, medical tests, and hospitalization before you arrive for the trip to Nepal.
  • The package cost offered above does not include your international flight ticket and Nepal's tourist visa, so that you have to pay for your international flight ticket and tourist visa yourself.

Equipment List

It is better to wash and use instead of bringing a lot of clothes. While choosing clothes to pack, pack clothes made of cotton/poly bend. Keep in mind to pack t-shirt, half pant, pant to stay in the summer and remember to pack shoes, slippers.
