Bal thali Village Trail is the shortest and closest trek from Kathmandu Valley. It takes you to the beautiful village of Bal thali to experience the Nepalese rural lifestyle and appreciate the pristine nature.
Bal thali village is located near the ancient Newari city of Panauti. Bal thali is a quiet village inhabited by the Tamang and Brahmin castes who follow a traditional rural lifestyle. Surrounded by pine and sal forests, Bal thali village offers a panoramic view of the Himal peaks and the Mahabharata range. Spending a day or two in this peaceful village will be a great peaceful respite from the busy, crowded city life.
The trek to Bal thali village also includes a visit to Dhulikhel, a breathtaking view of the majestic Annapurna, Gauri Shankar and Langtang glaciers. Along with Namo Buddha and Panauti. Namo Buddha is believed to be a holy place where Shakyamuni Buddha sacrificed his flesh to feed a hungry tiger in his previous incarnation. You will also tour the old town of Panauti and learn about Newari art, architecture, lifestyle and their food.

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. After completing the visa formalities and collecting your luggage at the airport, please exit the arrival hall. You will be waited for outside the arrivals hall and taken to your booking hotel. Please see the placard with your name on it when exiting the arrival hall. And upon arrival at the hotel will be served welcome drinks and after you freshen up, will inform you about your trip.
Have a warm breakfast and then take a 2 hour drive to Dhulikhel (1550m). Dhulikhel is a popular viewpoint for its 180 degree view of Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Gauri Shankar, Langtang and Lhotse. The trek from Dhulikhel to Namobuddha takes about 3 hours, crossing terraced fields and picturesque villages. Namo Buddha is an ancient temple where Buddha is believed to have sacrificed to feed a hungry tiger in his previous birth. Namobuddha is surrounded by the settlements of the Tamang community. There is also a modern Tibetan monastery that provides accommodation for tourists. Stay overnight at Namo Buddha.
Today you are going towards your destination Bal thali village. The trail is fairly easy and flat with some climbing. Enjoy beautiful green hills and terraced fields on the way. The trek takes about 3 hours. Overnight stay at Bal thali village.
Full day to visit Bal thali village. But first enjoy the majestic sunrise view of the Himalayan peaks as well as the Mahabharata range. Take a short walk to Danda Gaon, Pada Gaon and Nepane Village. This place is inhabited by the Tamang people who follow both Buddhism and Hinduism. You are surrounded by a dense forest of pine and sal trees. You can also visit the nearby Ladekeshwar temple.
This is the last day of your trek. It takes about 2 hours to reach Panauti from Bal thali. Panauti is a traditional Newari village with a 13th century Indreshwar temple, scriptures and stone statues of various Hindu deities. Return to Kathmandu after having lunch at Panauti.
