Chepang village and nagarkot is famous for enchanting mountain panoramic views and observing sunrise and sunsets. Chepangs cultural heritage.


Newly Developed for tourism which is just 80 km away from Kathmandu. Chepang culture is one of the most unique and ethnic culture in Nepal. Own language, leading a nomadic life and their primary lifestyle, hunting foraging for wild roots and fishing and traditional farming near jungles are its uniqueness. This trek offers the unique opportunity to interact with Chepangs. Chepangs speak their own distinct language, lead a nomadic life, and hunt, forage, and fish for survival. The Chepangs have a rich cultural heritage which is shown through songs, dances and beautiful handicrafts. They also produce their own fantastic tasting wine and honey. Thus, the trek passes through lush jungles and remote villages where very few tourists have gone before. Outline Itinerary (Chepang Hill Trek)
Day 01 : Arrival at Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport, transfer to hotel by our representative
Day 02 : Dive to Nagarkot (nice spot for the sunrise, sunset and mountain views) overnight at Nagarkot
Day 03 : Drive from Nagarkot to Hungdi, 4 hrs and trek to Hattibang village walk – Duration: 2 hrs
Day 04 : Trek from Hattibang to Jyandala, walk – Duration: 6 hrs
Day 05 : Trek from Jyandala to Siraichuli – Chisapanitar – Gadi (1275 m) walk – Duration: 6 hrs
Day 06 : Trek from Gadi – Shaktikhor (355 m) walk – Duration: 5 hrs
Day 07 : Drive back to Kathmandu 
Day 08 : Transfer to airport, departure to your own destination

Day 1
Day 01 : Arrival at Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport, transfer to hotel by our representative

After arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by the representative of AlpineTrav Treks and Expeditions and you will be shifted to your hotel.

Day 3
Day 02 : Dive to Nagarkot (nice spot for the sunrise, sunset and mountain views) overnight at Nagarkot

Day 03 : Drive from Nagarkot to Hungdi, 4 hrs and trek to Hattibang village walk - Duration: 2 hrs

Departure to Chepang Heritage Trail. Early morning after breakfast your Guide and staff meet you for a beautiful and scenic drive to Hugdi Bazaar (82 Km from Kathmandu along Kathmandu – Pokhara highway). From Hugdi Bazar our trek begins with a five hours walk to Hattibang, a beautiful village with magnificent mountain views. Overnight in local homes or community-managed guesthouses.

Day 5
Day 04 : Trek from Hattibang to Jyandala, walk - Duration: 6 hrs

We walk approximately three hours to Jyandala, a beautiful Chepang village. We follow the trail through a vivid landscape and reach Siraichuli ( Alt. 1,945 m. is one of the highest hills of the Mahabharat range), from where you can enjoy spectacular views of Himalayan peaks including Rolwaling, Gaurishankar, Langtang, Gorkha Himal, Peak 29, Himalchuli, Manaslu, the Annapurnas, Dhaulagiri and others. Towards South lie the green jungles of the Chitwan National Park in the Tarai. Overnight local guesthouse.

Day 6
Day 05 : Trek from Jyandala to Siraichuli – Chisapanitar – Gadi (1275 m) walk - Duration: 6 hrs

It takes about seven hours trek from Jyandala to Gadi via Siraichuli and Chisapanitar. The trail leads you through an ever-changing landscape to Uppardang Gadi which used to be the headquarter of Chitwan until early 1962. The remains of a historic fort that defended the surrounding countryside are still in existence. Nature and the spectacular views make it an ideal place to stay overnight with local families. Overnight local guesthouse.

Day 7
Day 06 : Trek from Gadi – Shaktikhor (355 m) walk - Duration: 5 hrs

It is about 3 – 4 hours walk from Gadi to Saktikhor… Shaktikor is another Chepang village and the centre of the sustainable tourism initiative of the Chepang people. They established a Chepang Museum and a visitor’s information centre which both serves as tourist attractions and as educational service centres. Caves and waterfalls around the village invite you to stroll in the area. Overnight local guesthouse.

Day 8
Day 07 : Drive back to Kathmandu

We drive back from Saktikhor to Kathmandu which is about 6 hrs scenic drive. You can extend your trip to Chitwan National Park as well for a couple of nights and enjoy the elephant back ride in the jungle. Overnight in hotel.

Day 9
Day 08 : Transfer to airport, departure to your own destination

As per your flight schedule, you will be transferred to the international airport of Kathmandu 3 hours prior to the flight time and your tour ends here.
