Chhomrung Trek via Ghorepani - 9 Days

The Chhomrung Trek via Ghorepani is one of the most exciting and breathtaking treks; that leads you to the wonderful historic ethnic villages of Annapurna Region without a long, exhausting route. Also, known as Annapurna Sunrise Trek. The trek offers the picturesque mountain scenery along with pleasant villages inhabited particularly by the Magars, Gurungs, and Poon, all set beneath the Annapurna with the dazzling peak of Machhapuchhare (Fishtail) dominating the skyline. Chomrong is a village in the Annapurna area of Nepal and a popular overnight stop for those walking the Annapurna sanctuary trek. The village is spread over a hillside that has stunning views of the Annapurnas and Machupachare. Views are particularly good in the early morning.

This trek trail is famous for dense rhododendron forests, the fantastic panoramic sunrise and sunset view from Poon Hill (3,210 meters) and magnificent 360-degree views of mountains. The amazing mountain panorama views from Poon Hill including entire Dhaulagiri (8167m) massif and Annapurna range series; dominating the skyline beyond with Annapurna I (8091m) are the main attractions. When the sun rises, it touches the summits of the Himalayan giants; Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m) along with a maze of other peaks, there gentle appearance is just like magic that is difficult for your eyes to believe. The trek is suitable for every level of trekkers: for beginners or children with a family holiday, and old age groups as it is an easy climb up, most varied landscape, well managed local ECO teahouse lodges facilities for food and accommodation along the trail.

Describing Chhomrung would be utterly incomplete without mentioning its active Mother’s Group. They effectively replace the state around here and also oversee village cleaning, trail maintenance and trail construction. They also run evening cultural shows here which is good fun for the visitors and a fund raising event for the Mother’s Group. It will be a evening well spent, immersing yourself in local folk tunes while at the same time helping out with a worthy cause.
