Chisapani Nagarkot Trek, also known as Kathmandu Rim Trek, is an exploration of the beautiful sub-urban area near Kathmandu.

The Chisapani Nagarkot Trek provides a complete introduction to the nature and culture of the Kathmandu countryside. Spread over an 7 day itinerary, this trek offers panoramic views of the majestic mountains including the Everest region, Langtang and Gaurishankar in the hills near Chisapani Nagarkot. Explore religiously significant sites. You will realize that the lifestyle in these rural areas is very simple.

It is a short trek around the Chisapani Nagarkot for which the trekking route passes through a wilderness of blooming rhododendron and oak forest. During the journey, we will experience diversity in flora and fauna. Chisapani Nagarkot trekking is the escape from your busy life that you are looking for. The trek starts and ends at a low altitude. You’ll trek through unpaved roads and be away from the chaos of modern lifestyle but never more than a few hours from the capital, Kathmandu. The trek around Chisapani Nagarkot starts from Sundarijal, half an hour from Kathmandu and ends at the Newari town of Dhulikhel.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. After completing visa formalities and collecting your luggage at the airport, please exit the arrival hall. Your tour leader will be waiting for you just outside the arrival hall and will take you to hotel in Kathmandu. Please look for a placard with your name on it at the exit of the arrival hall. Then depending on the time, you will have time to walk around the hotel and familiarize yourself near hotel.

Day 02 :

In Kathmandu, sightseeing and trek preparation

Today is a full-day Kathmandu tour; in which you will explore various UNESCO sites in Kathmandu. We will start our tour with a visit to Pashupatinath, the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal. We will witness the Hindu cremation ceremony at Aryaghat, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. And we will visit Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. We can see the rich Tibetan culture at Boudhanath. Similarly, we will end the day’s tour by visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square, the old royal residence of Nepal.

Day 03 :

Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani

After breakfast, you will take a short drive to Sundarijal. Start the trek from here; the route passes through the dense forest area of Shivpuri National Park. On the way, you will see a huge water dam, which is a source of drinking water for the people of Kathmandu. Then, travel through Mulkharka village and after a few hours you will reach Chisapani village. The village offers a magnificent view of the mountains including Langtang, Manaslu and Ganesh Himal ranges. Later, you can interact with the locals and learn about the rural Nepali lifestyle.

Day 04 :

Trek to Nagarkot from Chisapani

Today's trekking route is more scenic, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains and lush green hills. After breakfast, you will start your trek leaving Chisapani village behind. Walking through forested areas, beautiful rice terraces, and picturesque rural villages, you will reach the popular hill station of Nagarkot. You will get a breathtaking view of mountain ranges including Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Everest, etc. from Nagarkot. In the evening, enjoy the sunset view over the majestic Himalayas. You can also relax with a cup of coffee, read a book, or do yoga.

Day 05 :

Trek to Dhulikhel from Nagarkot

Wake up early in the morning, witness a beautiful sunrise with magnificent Himalayan views. On a clear sunny day, you will see the Himalayan ranges of Everest, Langtang, Gaurishankar and Ganesh Himal. You will see the best view of snow-capped mountains, green hills and blue sky with big clouds. Then, you will slowly descend towards Dhulikhel. It is a typical Newari town located on the edge of the hills of Nepal. You can take an easy hike to Kali Mandir, where you will get a panoramic view of the hills with green hills. And you will take a short walk through the narrow lanes, which are both beautiful and culturally rich.

Day 06 :

Drive back to Kathmandu from Dhulikhel

After a pleasant stay in the Newari city today, you will return to Kathmandu. Enjoy a hot breakfast with amazing views of the Himalayas and the green hills. Return to Kathmandu via the Araniko Highway, which is easily accessible, if you don’t get stuck in traffic jams, you will reach Kathmandu within an hour. Once you reach Kathmandu, you can take a short rest and freshen up. Later you can visit the nearby areas or you can also do some souvenir shopping.

Day 7 :

International departures, or join optional activities

After breakfast and on your last day in Kathmandu, we will be ready to take you to the international airport three hours before your scheduled flight. How difficult is the Chisapani Nagarkot Trek?

Duration for treks of this grade stretches up to one (1) week. Trails generally go above 2000 meters and on a daily basis, you can expect to be walking for about 4 – 6 hours. involves occasional difficult days. Expect ups and downs as well for there will be hills to climb as well.

What is the best time to trek to Chisapani Nagarkot?

The best time to trek to Chisapani Nagarkot Trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November) months when the weather is favorable and suitable for climbing at high altitudes. These seasons offer crystal-clear mountain views with clear skies. The trek can also be done in February and early September but the trek is best done during the above months.
