The Cultural Tour in Bhutan at designed to accomodate both sighteesing and trekking activities at one go. The tour begins from Paro where we visit Rinpung Dzong, Ta Dzong and Kichu Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the country. Next, we trek to the famous Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery and visit countless monuments in Thimphu including Memorial Chhorten, nunnery temple, traditional painting school and others. From Thimphu we head to Punakha and visit the extraordinary Punakha Dzong. Our next stop will be Bumthang but not before touring the yathra (textile weaving) factory on the way. We also get acquainted with the Bhutanese rural life through a three-day Bumthang Trek. Throughout our journey on the ‘Cultural Tour in Bhutan with Three Days Bumthang Trek’, we get to enjoy the picturesque high passes, deeply- forested valleys, interesting villages and small townships.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Paro airport and drive to Thimphu.
Day 2: Paro to Thimphu, hike to Taktsang Monastery (3,180m), 4-5 hrs.
Day 3: Sightseeing tour in Thimphu (2,320m).
Day 4: Thimphu to Punakha (1,250m).
Day 5: Punakha to Bumthang (2,850m).
Day 6: Trek from Bumthang to Ngang Lhakhang – Trek begins (2,895m), 2-3 hrs.
Day 7: Trek from Ngang Lhakhang to Ugyen Choling (2,895m), 6-7 hrs.
Day 8: Trek from Ugyen Choling to Jakar/Bumthang, Trek ends (2,745m), 1.5 hrs.
Day 9: Visit to Jakar/Bumthang (2,745m).
Day 10: Bumthang to Wangdue (1,240m).
Day 11: Wangdue to Paro (2,250m).
Day 12: Drop at the airport for the final departure.

International flights are not included. Rooms are usually shared by two people unless you request a private room. Also, you can upgrade to better hotels in the mountains and cities too. Please contact us.

Accommodation

AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions promises to manage the best, most comfortable and preferable accommodation. Generally, in cities like Paro, we arrange basic three-star facilities. If available, you can opt for a more budget-friendly option or upgrade to a more luxurious hotel by paying a little extra. Although all the places might not have all the modern facilities, we will make sure to arrange safe and comfortable accommodation. In general, hygienic and safe tea houses/local lodges/ home-stays with all the basic facilities are arranged. But you can, if possible, personalize according to your preference.

Food On Tour

All meals in Bhutan are included within the evident cost. However, if you want to eat your meals other than at your hotel or local restaurant, you will have to pay the additional amount. In more remote areas, usually, there are not many options. But you can always find hygienic and well-prepared food.

Equipment packing list:

It is better to wash and use instead of bringing a lot of clothes. While choosing clothes to pack, pack clothes made of cotton/poly bend. Keep in mind to pack t-shirt, half pant, pant to stay in the summer and you will often be walking on unpaved roads during the tour, remember to pack shoes and slippers.
