Details Itinerary

After landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by a representative of AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions who will drop you off at our hotel. Then check-in at the hotel, fresh up and relax. Kathmandu at night.

We take an early morning flight to Lukla to start the Everest trek. We meet the rest of our team at Lukla and start trekking from there. We slowly reach Cheplung village from where we get a glimpse of the never climbed holy mountain Khumbila. From here we gradually descend to Phakding. Overnight in Phakding.

Our trail passes through a pine forest and we follow a road heading north into the Benkar Valley. We cross the Dudhkoshi River through Chumoa and Monjo village to reach the entrance of Everest National Park. After crossing the suspension bridge, we walk through Jorsalle village through Dudhkoshi and Bhotekoshi rivers. We climb the steep road to Namche Bazar which is the largest town in the Everest region. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

We can visit Namche Bazaar which is the primary town in the Everest or Khumbu region and has government offices, ATMs, internet cafes, shops, restaurants, and colorful markets. Trek to Everest National Park and enjoy the sunrise of the Himalayas including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde. If we are interested in a day hike, we can reach Khumjung village. Today we also visit the Hillary School and the monastery where the Yeti skull is! Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Walk along the glacial of the Dudhkoshi River. From this route one can see the view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Thamserku and Ama Dabalam mountains. Our journey continues through a colorful forest of blooming rhododendrons. The area is rich in wildlife, including musk deer and colorful pheasants. There is a junction point at Sanasa. One route takes us to the Gokyo Valley while the other leads to the Mt. Base Camp. We will make a steep climb to the largest Gompa Tengboche Monastery in the Khumbu region. The trip provides us with close-up views of many surrounding mountains. We will visit a monastery and walk through a forest of birch and rhododendron to Debuche where we will stay the night.

We walk through some chortens, gem walls and some small villages, then we go for some fun and while enjoying our food we savor some further views of Amadablam above us. We trek through Pangboche, the highest of the valley's true permanent settlements, and reach a regular settlement, en route to Dingboche, the biggest climb of the day. The main occupation of the locals of Dingboche is agriculture. We can see fields surrounded by stone walls at Dingboche. where we spend the night.

Spending a day at Dingboche will help us get used to the high altitude. Instead of staying empty, we climb a cliff located behind the village and see six of the highest peaks in the world, including Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu. Furthermore, we can also admire the Cholatse and Taboche peaks. To our north-west we see more Himalayan peaks above the Khumbu river valley. Among those peaks, Lobuche West, Lobuche East and Lhotse are the most impressive. From another point on the ridge we can also admire the picturesque Imja river valley and the beautiful village of Dingboche. Overnight at Dingboche.

After passing a few teahouses in Dugla, we ascend the beautiful precarious moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, passing a chain of stone monuments built in memory of the Sherpas who lost their lives during the expedition to climb Mount Everest. From here, the trail narrows and heads down the west side of the valley to Lobuche. It is a wonderful sight to watch the sunset at Nuptse from this point.

Reaching Everest Base Camp requires a real early start. It takes several hours to cross the snowy peaks and the craters of the Khumbu Glacier. After a short lunch and rest, we trek to Everest Base Camp via the once huge Gorak Shep. We truly appreciate the Everest climbers who trek the perilous route through the Khumbu Icefall only after reaching Everest Base Camp. Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori mountains can be seen from the base camp. On the return leg, we return to Gorkshep taking in the magnificent view of the Khumbu Icefall.

Today is the most important part of our journey. We start early in the morning to see the dramatic views from Kalapathar, seeing the first light of day glimmering on Mount Everest. However, we should prepare in advance for the early morning, dark and cold temperature (-5 to -15°C) departure. Also, there is always the possibility of cold winds which are very common. Although the familiar peaks like Lingtran, Khumbuste, Changtse Tower in the east appear between the summit of the west shoulder and Nuptse. During the climb of Kalapatthar we can catch our breath at many great views to click pictures. After a few hours of climbing, we reach Kalapathar. From here, we shake off to climb a rocky outcrop near the summit marked by cairns and prayer flags. When we reach the top, we sit on black stone cliffs and our eyes take in incredible Himalayan views, rolling from one mighty massif to another. We take as many pictures as possible with our cameras so they last a lifetime. After this we slowly descend back to Pheriche. For a good night's rest that we really deserve.

Today we descend, we retrace our previous route to Pangboche and Tengboche. We will make a gentle descent to Phortse Tenga, a teahouse settlement. We will descend the mountain through a forest of pine and rhododendron. We will cross the wooden bridge over Dudhkoshi river and head towards Sanasa village. From here the trail climbs up the valley and then a gradual walk to Namche Bazaar where you stay overnight.

Last day of our trek through Dudhkoshi River to Lukla. After coming down from Namche, it is just a walk along Dudhkhosi river. And we'll grab a lunch in midway and climb the final climb to Lukla' airstrip. The rest of the day is free and you can relax under the warm sun and reflect on the emotional experiences we had while hiking through these massive mountains that helped us rediscover ourselves in a possibly least expected way. This is our last day in these magnificent mountains.

We will wake up early in the morning, enjoy breakfast and get ready for the arrival of our plane for our flight back to Kathmandu. Upon our touchdown at Kathmandu airport, representatives from our office will meet and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of your day is at your own leisure.
