Employment opportunities for local guides and porters
Many of our trekking guides are part-time students from the Himalayan countryside who supplement their income by guiding to school or college in the off-season.
But we suggest using experienced guides while trekking in Nepal. Their knowledge of the trekking area guarantees the best camping sites, lodges and trails, and prevents those wrong three hour “short cuts”. Equally important is their insight into Nepali culture and customs that trekkers would miss out on traveling alone with other foreigners.
We offer friendly experienced trekking guides and healthy, strong and friendly trekking porters for all our organized treks, but also provide guide services and porters to independent trekkers who wish to plan their own routes and arrange their own trekking for a basic fee. This includes guide and porter salaries, food and insurance.
