Kathmandu Valley Tour offers unique geographical, natural and cultural wonders for tourists and trekkers. During our tour, you can enjoy mountain flight, this approximately one-hour flight where you can see 13 snow-capped mountains including the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. You can enjoy seeing five other mountains above 8000 meters and over a hundred peaks above 6000 meters.

After enjoying the mountain flight, you will visit the sightseeing spots around Kathmandu Valley. Similarly; we explore not only the three cities within the valley (Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur) but also the important places located on its periphery. We start our tour with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites scattered around the valley and then visit the beautiful villages nearby.

During our trip, we also travel to Nagarkot, a hill town popular for its views of the Himalayas. Next, we visit the Changu Narayan Temple which is believed to have existed since 325 AD. We end our journey by visiting important Hindu temples such as Dakshinkali and Budhanilkantha, located on the outskirts of the valley.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Kathmandu Airport

Once you arrive in Kathmandu, AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions will arrange to pick you up from the airport. You will then be transferred to the hotel. During the afternoon, you can relax in your hotel room. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions. At the dinner, you will be served excellent Nepali cuisine that will introduce you to the rich food culture of the country.

Day 02 :

Sightseeing in Kathmandu Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath and Bouddhanath stupa

After breakfast, you begin your sightseeing tour by visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Sites within Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square showcases Nepali art and architecture at its finest. The architecture is typical of the Malla Dynasty that ruled Nepal from the 12th to the 18th centuries. The Swyambunath Temple is popular among foreigners as the Monkey Temple due to the large number of monkeys that inhabit the area. Pashupatinath Temple is located on the banks of the Bagmati River and is one of the major temples of Lord Shiva. Boudhnath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in South Asia, built on an ancient trade route to Tibet.

Day 03 :

Morning Mountain flight and afternoon Sightseeing Tour of Patan, Khokana and Bungamati

Early in the morning, you depart from your hotel for an hour-long mountain flight and marvel at the close-up aerial views of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, the world’s second highest peak, Kanchenjunga, and other high Himalayas, as well as clear glimpses of the Tibetan plateau. In the afternoon, you will visit Patan, Khokana, and Bungmati. Listed among UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Patan Durbar Square is rich in ancient art and architecture. Khokana is famous for its mustard oil seeds and its functional and industrial heritage. Bungmati seems somewhat untouched by time. Here, you can watch people drying red chillies and garlic from their windows. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

Day 04 :

Sightseeing: Thimi, Bhaktapur, Changu Narayan and Nagarkot

Thimi is located about 10 km east of Kathmandu and is famous for its pottery, masks, puppets, hand-woven clothes and other handicrafts. The place is also famous for its sweet, pounded rice grown in traditional fields. You will also visit Bhaktapur, an irresistible city with an authentic local lifestyle that has been preserved for centuries from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. While in the city square, you will get to admire the Nyata-Pola Temple, the Golden Gate, water fountains and the 55-windowed palace that offers visitors a magical outdoor theater atmosphere. You will also enjoy the authentic deliciousness of Bhaktapur’s local cuisine. Changu Narayan is the oldest temple in the Kathmandu Valley and boasts of being the oldest pagoda-style building in Nepal. Today you will also visit the village of Nagarkot in Bhaktapur which is situated at 7,200 feet and boasts stunning Himalayan views. It is also famous for its sunrise and sunset views of the Himalayas. Depending on your choice, you will visit Nagarkot for sunrise or sunset.

Day 05 :

Tour Dakshinkali, Chobhar, Pharping and Kirtipur

You will have breakfast and head towards the southern part of Kathmandu. The Dakshinkali Temple is located inside the forest and is dedicated to Goddess Dakshinkali, one of the most important Hindu goddesses. Pilgrims throng the area to visit the temple and offer prayers. Chobhar is known for the Chobhar Khonch through which all the water of the valley flows and also for its vast network of natural mountain caves. Pharping has many Buddhist and Hindu monuments, temples and monasteries. Kirtipur is a historical town located on the top of the hill in the valley. The area is home to Nepal’s largest and oldest university, Tribhuvan University, which is also an important learning center of Nepal. The historical town has many interesting sights, shrines and temple, old houses, people working on ancient looms, etc. which are all fun to see. Spend the night in Kirtipur.

Day 06 :

Sightseeing Budhanilkantha and Shivapuri

Today you will travel to the northern part of Kathmandu Valley. You will have breakfast and visit Budhanilkantha, a huge statue of Lord Vishnu sitting on a bed of snakes at the foot of the Shivpuri hill. Budhanilkantha is a major pilgrimage site for Hindus. From Budhanilkantha, a section of dusty road leads north to the Shivpuri National Park. This place is also a famous trekking area near Kathmandu and many city dwellers can be seen trekking in this area. There is also a Buddhist nunnery inside the national park. The dirt road in the middle of the forest climbs through the villages of Dandagaun, Gurje Bhanjyang, etc. and finally reveals a panoramic view of the mountains, distant hills and valleys. After crossing the top of the hill, a few kilometers of downhill drive will take you to the village of Shivpuri.
