Ghale Gaun Trek - 8 Days

The Ghale Gaun trek is an ideal  trek for those with a keen interest  to experience the unique lifestyles of the Gurung communities along with the places  panoramic views of snow-cappedmountains. This is the most followed trekking route to the famous Annapurnas; running  northwest of the Annapurna trail.Splitting the route  from Khudi, it leads to the beautiful, traditional village of Ghalegaun, which is situated  at an altitude of 2020m above sea level. Traditional cultural practices carrying  by its  locals during births, deaths, marriages and other ritualistic activities are the major attractions of the place. There, local people perform old cultural dances such as Jyaure, Serka, Dohori, Ghatu, Sorathi, Jankri etc. on various occasions by using different musical instruments along with traditional, unique dress which makes us feel as we are in the ancestrial period. Similarly,  the trail also leads us  through the forest of rhododendron flowers, past waterfalls, and through many more other traditional villages along the way. We will have majestic views of the Himalayas, such as Machhapuchhare(6693m) Annapurna II (7939m), Annapurna(8091m),  Annapurna IV (7525m), Lamjung Himal, Himalchuli (6747m), Bouddha Himal (6974m) and many more snowy mountains. In whole, this trek provides us  the unforgettable  memories of traditional cultures with Gurung people’s warm hospitality with the stunning  great views of the Himalayas, which will remain lifelong  in our heart.

Day 1
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport, transfer to hotel by our representative.

Day 2
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing and trek preparation (1,300m),

After breakfast, you will begin a city tour of Kathmandu where you will see the main attractions of the valley. On this tour you will visit the Boudhnath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Swyambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), and Kathmandu Durbar Square (the old palace).

Day 3
Day 03: Drive to Khudi (760m), 7 hrs, overnight at tea house.

Our guide will meet you at the hotel as per departure time and takes you to the bus station where your journey starts towards west of Kathmandu through Prithivi highway till Dumre. After that the road turns towards north to Besisahar. This is an excellent drive which has interesting scenery of the Mountains, Rivers, waterfalls and Jungle as well as farm terraces and village on the mountains. Stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 4
Day 04: Trek to Ghalegaun (1800m), 6 hrs, overnight at tea house.

After breakfast at the lodge, the trek begins toward northwest of Khudi along the bank of the river. It is beautiful walking through the forest and many waterfalls along the way. After a short ascend you reach Ghalegaun village which is beautiful settlement of Gurung which is major ethnic group of Nepal. This evening spend your time to walk around the village. Overnight at home stay.

Day 5
Day 05: Explore day.

Wake up early morning for beautiful sunrise and breakfast with the Gurung family. After that, walk around the village to explore their traditional lifestyle. Evening cultural program takes place at the village where locals perform their traditional songs with traditional dress.

Day 6
Day 06: Trek to Khudi (760m), 7 hrs, overnight at tea house.

After breakfast the trail descends through the small village and forest to the river side. The trail continues leads along the bank of the river till Khudi where you stop for overnight.

Day 7
Day 07: Drive to Kathmandu via Bensisahar 6-7 hrs, overnight at hotel.

Breakfast at the lodge and take bus ride back to Kathmandu. It is beautiful driving along the highway which has beautiful scenery. Arrive evening in Kathmandu and ,overnight at the hotel.

Day 8
Day 08: Transfer to airport, departure to your own destination.

It is our last day or you can extend your holiday if you have time. If you schedule is to departure from Kathmandu we would drop you to the airport.
