Goecha La Trek is an outstanding one in the isolated area of West Sikkim. Sikkim shares its border with Tibet to the North, Bhutan to the East, Nepal to the West, and the State of West Bengal (India) to the South. It is a beautiful land of monumental mountains from which Khangchendzonga; the world’s third-highest mountain peak of the world can be viewed. The trek itself can be challenging, in terms of distances to be covered in a day. One needs to get properly acclimatized due to the huge changes in altitude over a small time during this trek.

It is one of the greenest regions in the world, remains one of the top things to do for any holidaymaker in the Himalayas untouched by any affluence, these forests support a fine ecosystem, with numerous species of unusual flora and fauna.

This trek offers stunning Himalayan views, beautiful landscape, Lush valley, and Mixed Sikkim culture. This trek towards Khangchendzonga situating at an elevation of 6,000 ft. in sub-tropic moss-laden forests of pine, magnolia, and rhododendron steadily progressing upwards through wild and uninhabited alpine landscapes finally takes us up to Goechala Pass, opposite to the eastern phase of Khangchendzonga (8435m).

1. All the logistical arrangements required for the trip will be done prior to your arrival providing you with a hassle-free trip.
2. On trekking, you will be led by an experienced and medical-trained guide or leader with a high staff ratio. Safety is our utmost priority.
3. To pass through challenging routes and to ensure your safety and comfort, we need an adequate number of staff. It includes an Experience guide, porters, an assistant guide too.
4. We provide boiled water for drinking purposes on all our treks. During mealtime, you can ask the staff to fill the hot water for you. We strongly discourage the use of single-use plastic bottles such as mineral water on all our trips. Carrying a hot water bottle is highly recommended.
5. Daily wake-up calls will be between 6.00 am to 7.00 am while on the trek. The wake-up time and breakfast time will be decided the night before during the briefing time. The timetable for each day will entirely depend on your walking duration for that particular day.
6. Tea will be served at your Tent or Room as a wake-up call. After a hearty breakfast, we set off on the day’s walk. Before breakfast, you are required to pack your duffel bag as it will be loaded by the porter while you are having your breakfast.

All-Inclusive for Trek

Trekking is an all-inclusive trip meaning you will need cash only for your personal expenses and meals in Kathmandu, Darjeeling and Gangtok.
1. During the trekking, Sleeping bag, Down jacket, and a waterproof duffel bag trekking map, all required permits, Document for the trek, Guide, and camping staff, Cook, and kitchen staff, support staff, necessary ground transportation and domestic flight fare, etc all include.
2. For trekking, all accommodation including sleeping tent, mattress, dining tent, kitchen tent, dinner table, sitting chair, shower tent, and toilet tent is included.
3. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, dinner, tea, coffee, fresh fruits every day of Meals AlpineTrav Treks staff provide you.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Fly to Bhadrapur and scenic drive to Darjeeling (2042m), 5 hours.
Day 03: Sightseeing in Darjeeling overnight at Darjeeling
Day 04: Trek to Yuksom (1780 m), 5 hours.
Day 05: Trek to Tshoka (3030 m), 7 hours.
Day 06: Trek to Dzongri (4020 m), 6 hours.
Day 07: Rest day at Dzongri for acclimatization.
Day 08: Trek to Lamuney (4200 m), 6 hours.
Day 09: Hike to Goecha-La viewpoint (4984 m) and back to Thangsing (3800m), 6 hours.
Day 10: Trek to Tshoka (3800 m), 6 hours.
Day 11: Trek to Yuksom (1780 m), 6 hours.
Day 12: Drive to Gangtok (1650 m), 5 hours.
Day 13: Sightseeing in Gangtok (We visit the famous Monastery of Rumtek)
Day 14: Drive to Bhadrapur and fly back to Kathmandu
Day 15: Sightseeing in Kathmandu (Durbar Square world heritage sites by UNESCO, Swayambhunath Monkey Temple, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square), etc.

Your safety is of imperative concern while traveling with AlpineTrav Treks. 1. Trekking can be challenging and exhausting. So you might need some fitness training and experience for some tough trials.
2. Trekking in the Himalayas always takes us to challenge altitudes and rocky routes. You could ask for proper rest time and acclimatization to sustain your strength. Mountains can never be achieved in a day.
3. We always provide the details in our itinerary. However certain training like running, skipping, and other workouts.

The gears listed below are required for this trek. We encourage you to get all equipment listed below and kindly ensure you check and try every piece of equipment. You can also buy or hire the same in Kathmandu as they are available in the many trekking shops.

Upper Body
Long-sleeved shirts, T-shirts, Baselayers, Warm Jacket, Sweater, Pullover, Waterproof Gore-Tex, Down Jacket with hood (800m). fill Primaloft or light Jacket.

Lower Body
Thermal, Inner, wears, Baselayers, Undergarments, Waterproof Gore-Tex Pant, Trekking Trousers, Pants, Down, or Primaloft Pant. Warm socks (4 pair thin socks and 4 pair thick socks), Trekking Boots (Preferably full to protect, support your ankle), Camp Shoes, Gaiters, Down shoes (Optional), Flip-flop.

Food (Meals)

We will provide three meals a day (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner), during the trek. Since this is a full camping trek, our kitchen crew will serve freshly prepared meals during the trek. We consider hearty and delicious meals as a key component to the overall success of our trip. You can and are encouraged to bring along comfort food which you enjoy eating – chocolates, power bars, dry fruits, candies, other snacks, etc.
Such as in Kathmandu, only breakfast will be provided to give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where what and with whom to eat for lunch and dinner.

About Nepal Visa

All foreign nationals except Indian Nationals are required to arrange a visa in order to enter Nepal. A Nepalese Visa can be obtained either prior to your arrival at a Nepalese embassy abroad or on arrival time in Kathmandu at the airport. But nationals from Afghanistan, Iraq, Cameroon, Ghana, Somalia, Swaziland, Palestine, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Liberia cannot secure the Nepalese Visa upon arrival. The Visa can be also taken at entry points at Nepalese borders. For Nepalese Visa, it requires your passport with at least six months validity, a recent digital photo (size: 1.5″ x 1.5″), and the following fees either in USD dollars cash or the equivalent local currency. Travel Insurance
