Gosaikund, an eye-catching alpine lakes surrounded by bare mountain scenery
Gosaikunda Lake Trek Instead of following the crowded Langtang Valley trekking route, reach Gosaikund Lake via Lauribina, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and the shade of the Himalayas. This is a short and scenic trek for hikers looking for a quick thrill in the Langtang region. The trail passes through thick forests of rhododendron and bamboo. Suspension and wooden bridges, waterfalls, streams, meadows and small settlement areas make the Gosaikunda trekking route excellent. Moreover, our Gosaikunda trekking itinerary has the advantage of climbing and balanced working altitude which keeps trekkers away from altitude sickness. If you are lucky enough to see it, you can also see Red Panda as this area is also a breeding ground for many animals.
Therefore; follow the adventurous trails of the Langtang region and explore the beautiful villages on Gosaikunda Lake Trek. Trek up to 4,380m, where the holy Gosaikunda Lake is situated. Enjoy an immersive trek and experience the cultural richness of the region.
Views during the Gosaikunda Lake Trek
Gosaikunda Trek, we witness numerous snow-capped mountains, including the Langtang Lirung (7,234m), Yara Peak (6,236m), Ganesh Himal (7,422m), Gauri Shankar (7,134m), Shisha Pangma (8,027m), Kang Guru (6,981m), etc. Apart from the mountains, the trek offers jaw-dropping scenery and stunning views of glaciers. The lovely forests, green meadows, and fine mountain villages with several chortens, prayer wheels, and prayer flags decorate the trekking route. Similarly, at Gosaikunda Lake, you can spend time soaking in the soothing views of the surrounding mountains and hills.
Located at an altitude of 4,380 meters, Gosaikunda Lake is a sacred lake with significant religious significance for Hindus and Buddhists. It is a freshwater lake and was also declared a Ramsar site in 2007. Hindu mythology says that Gosaikunda Lake is the abode of Lord Shiva and Gauri. Not only that, it is said that the pond was formed because Lord Shiva threw a trident at the mountain to draw water for drinking. Yes then, if you choose this short trek, you will find it different than expected with its deserted forest path and Himalayan views and chirping of birds. There is no shortage, we say with a guarantee.
