Himalayan Scenery Tour

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. After completing visa formalities and collecting your luggage at the airport, please exit the arrival hall. Your tour leader will be waiting for you just outside the arrival hall and will take you to hotel in Kathmandu. Please look for a placard with your name on it at the exit of the arrival hall. Then depending on the time, you will have time to walk around the hotel and familiarize yourself near hotel.

Today is a full-day Kathmandu tour; in which you will explore various UNESCO sites in Kathmandu. There are a total of 10 UNESCO sites in Nepal and you will find seven UNESCO sites in the Kathmandu Valley alone within a distance of 20 km. Then we will start our tour with a visit to Pashupatinath, the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal. We will witness the Hindu cremation ceremony at Aryaghat, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. And we will visit Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. We can see the rich Tibetan culture at Boudhanath. Similarly, we will end the day’s tour by visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square, the old royal residence of Nepal.

Pokhara is located 200 kilometers from Kathmandu. You will reach Pokhara after driving for about 6-7 hours on the Prithvi Highway. The route is beautiful as you continue through the countryside. On the way, you can see the Trishuli River and a cable car that takes pilgrims to the Manakamana Temple - the wish-fulfilling goddess. Pokhara is a clean and green city. In the evening, you will visit Phewa Lake. You will spend the night at a lakeside hotel in Pokhara.

We will drive from Pokhara to Phedi the foothills which takes about 45 minutes. Then we will start climbing up through the rhododendron forest by climbing stone steps until we reach the lower Dhampus which takes about 1 hour. Then, we will climb slowly through terraced fields and small houses. And we will continue climbing up again through the rhododendron forest until we reach the hill which takes about 1 hour. We can see the magnificent Annapurna range and Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail). Then, we will trek on a flat or road path which takes about 30 minutes to reach our hotel.

After breakfast, from Australian Camp we will trek through the forest of trail for 3 hours towards Kande, and stop there for lunch and continue for 1 hour trekking to Naudanda. The trek will give you a glimpse of the magnificent mountain views (Dhaulagari, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, Lamjung Himal etc.). It also offers a mesmerizing view of Pokhara Valley and Pokhara Lake. From where we will get ready for our car for Pokhara and drive to the beautiful lake Pokhara.

Our next destination is Chitwan, the home of the jungle. We will travel 3 to 4 hours by car from Pokhara to Chitwan. We will exit the East-West Highway at Narayanghat and take another 30 minutes drive to reach Chitwan National Park. We will spend the night in a comfortable Chitwan Forest Resort inside the park. In the evening, we will visit a Tharu village where we can watch their traditional stick dance.

This day is going to be very exciting. There are various options available to explore the dense forests of the park. We can walk and follow the tiger trail. If you choose to walk, we recommend that you never walk alone without a guide as many ferocious animals roam freely in this forest. Another option is to ride on the back of an elephant. Feel the adrenaline of a close encounter with a Bengal tiger and a one-horned rhinoceros from a safe height. We can also participate in cannon firing on the Rapti River. This park is rich in flora and fauna. The park provides shelter to 43 species of mammals, 45 species of amphibians and 500 species of birds. Gangetic dolphins can be found in the Rapti River. We will also visit an elephant breeding center.

Kathmandu: Located 158 km from Chitwan. It takes 4 to 5 hours to reach Kathmandu by private vehicle. We will enter Kathmandu from Thankot Checkpost and head towards Bhaktapur city. Following the Araniko Highway for about an hour and a half, we will reach Nagarkot, the nearest hill station from Kathmandu. We will climb to the top of the View Tower. If the weather is clear, we can see panoramic views of the mountains from Annapurna in the west to Everest in the east. Nagarkot also offers a spectacular view of the Kathmandu Valley.

We will wake up early in the morning and visit the View Tower as Nagarkot is popular for sunrise viewing. The villages of Nagarkot are mostly inhabited by Tamang people and we can witness rural life in Nagarkot. The atmosphere is eerie only with the sound of leaves rustling in the forest when the light breeze blows. We will have our breakfast and depart for the medieval Newar city of Bhaktapur where we can observe life in its primitive forms. The Bhaktapur Durbar Square is listed as a UNESCO Heritage Site. We will explore the courtyards of the ancient royal residence. Then we will back to Kathmandu.
