Jomsom Muktinath Trek is one of the classic treks that allows ample opportunity to witness opulence of culture and wilderness existing in Annapurna region. Jomsom Muktinath trekking follows the ancient trade route that has been in use since primordial days for trade in between Tibet and locals of Annapurna. We will walk along world’s deepest Kali Gandaki gorge to the temple of Salvation God- Muktinath where we can observe eternal flame. 108 Water taps increase the glory of Muktinath temple complex.

Our Itinerary trekking takes us to Jomsom which is the famous gateway to hidden Mustang region. One can experience different aspect of Nepal in this trek. The sharp change in altitude enables us to experience diverse wildlife, climate, weather, landscape and culture. The path is scenic with views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna Mountain Range and other mountains over 8000m. The combination of natural and cultural wealth makes Jomsom Muktinath trek a once in a lifetime experience. September to November and March to May are best season for Jomsom Muktinath trek. The path becomes colorful with array of blooming rhododendrons in Spring season (March to April).

However; our Jomsom Muktinath Trek is an all-inclusive trip meaning you will only need cash for your personal expenses and meals in Kathmandu. Accommodation in Kathmandu and during the trek, three meals per day on the trek, all required permits for the trek, guides, internal airfares, transfers to and from Kathmandu and etc are all included.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu (1,350m), and transfer to Hotel.
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (827m) by tourist bus 6-7 hours.
Day 3: Fly to Jomsom from Pokhara and trek to Kagbeni (2,895m), 4-5 hours.
Day 4: Trek to Muktinath (3,800m) from Kagbeni 5-6 hours.
Day 5: Explore Muktinath and surrounding areas (3,800m), 3-4 hours.
Day 6: Trek to Marpha (2,760m) from Muktinath 6-7 hours.
Day 7: Trek to Lete (2,480m) from Marpha 5-6 hours.
Day 8: Trek to Tatopani (1,190m) from Lete 5-6 hours.
Day 9: Trek to Ghorepani (2,750m), from Tatopani 6-7 hours.
Day 10: Hike up to Poonhill (3,210m) and Trek to Hille (1,430m) 4-5 hours
Day 11: Trek to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara (827m)
Day 12: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist bus.
Day 13: Drop at the airport for the final departure.

  • Additional activities could be either added or reduced as per client's request before the confirmation of the trip.
  • The price shall be adjusted in our mutual understanding; if the client intends to add some services, we shall charge for those additional services, if intends to lessen some services, we shall wave the charges accordingly.
  • The itinerary is published in full board operation services for a clear understanding of the client. But, required for Trekking cost depends on porter request or exclusion too.
  • The above offer price is full board standard format of itineraries which are all inclusive. But, the cost depends also on request category hotel accommodation in Kathmandu or Pokhara.

Detail Itinerary

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. Upon completing the visa formalities and collecting your luggages in the airport, kindly proceed to the exit of the arrival hall. Please look out for a placard of your name at the exit of arrival hall. Your trip leader will await you just outside the arrival hall and will escort you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Welcome drinks will be served and after you’ve refreshed, your trek leader will brief you about your trip.

Kathmandu is located 200km far from Pokhara. Following Prithvi Highway for about 6 to 7 hrs, we will reach Pokhara. The route is scenic as journey continues through countryside area. Enroute, we can get views of Trishuli River and Cable Car taking pilgrims to the Mankamana Temple- the wish fulfilling goddess. Pokhara is the clean and green city. We will visit Phewa Lake in the evening. Stay overnight in hotel in Lakeside, Pokhara.

15 minutes of flight will take us to Jomsom from Pokhara. The flight is pleasant with scenic views of gorge in between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains. From Jomsom, we will walk along the side of the valley to Kagbeni (2750m). Jomsom is an administrative centre of the region. We will cross the river to the eastern edge and continue walking to Eklai Bhatti village (2730m). We will move along river to Kagbeni (2810m) that is located at the juncture of Jhong River and Kali Gandaki. The village is influenced by Tibetan culture. Stay overnight in Kagbeni.

Leaving Kagbeni, we will climb through the Jhong River valley and then head all the way to Muktinath. We will follow the ascending trail above Jhong River to Jharkot village (3500m). Leaving Jharkot village, we will follow the ascending trail to Muktinath (3802m). We need to reach Ranipauwa village. The religious site of Muktinath is located 10 minutes of walk far from Ranipauwa. Stay overnight in Muktinath.

Muktinath is one of the major pilgrimage sites of Hindu and Buddhist devotees. 108 water spouts and Vishnu temple are places of interest in Muktinath temple complex. One Buddhist Gompa is located near Vishnu temple. One can also witness eternal flame in Jwala Mai Temple. We will explore nearby monasteries and temples and stay overnight in Muktinath.

our journey carries on with a 1,200m of descent to the Kaligandaki river valley floor, with a brief stop at Ekale bhatti which means ‘a lonely teahouse’, at present its a small settlement with 3, 4 teahouses. From here onwards, the valley gets very windy in the afternoon time as we here the howling of the wind right in the ears, the walk follows the gentle trail for another two hours till the large town of Jomsom is reached. Jomsom, a little hilly town and headquarters of the Mustang region with a small airstrip is just above the Kaligandaki River. Another two hours of easy walk from Jomsom towards the south east brings us to Marpha for the overnight stop.

From Marpha, we will walk along whitewashed houses and crop fields and arrive at the bank of Kaligandaki River. Walking along Kaligandaki River, we will reach Tukche which is the culturally rich village of Thakali ethnics. We will visit the local gompa and move along the western bank of the Kali Gandaki to Larjung. We will move along narrow alleyways and tunnels that will take us to forest area. Crossing pine and juniper forest, we will reach Kalapani from where we can get panoramic view of Annapurna I Mountain. Half an hour of trek from Kalopani will take us to Lete where we will stay overnight.

Leaving Lete early in the morning, we will lower down through forest area to Ghasa which is the last Thakali village and also the final southern village that follows Tibetan Buddhism. Walking through narrow gorge after Ghasa, we will reach Rupse village where we can witness cascading waterfall. From Rupse, we will reach Dana which is a Magar village. Dana greets us with close-up view of Annapurna South. We will lower down to Tatopani where we can take bath in natural hot springs. Stay overnight in Tatopani.

We will lower down from Tatopani and arrive at suspension bridge over river. Crossing the river, we will exit from Kaligandaki valley and walk through small Sikha and Chitre villages to forest. The trail contours up through rhododendron forest to Deurali Pass (2834m). The top of pass greets us with awe-inspiring views of Dhaulagiri Mountain, Nilgiri Mountain, Annapurna I Mountain, Annapurna South Mountain and other peaks and mountains. Brief walk from Deurali will take us to Ghorepani. The place is used as a watering spot by horse and donkeys that travel in between Pokhara and Jomsom. Stay overnight in Ghorepani.

Early in the morning before dawn, we will leave our hotel and hike towards Poon hill for sunrise over Annapurna mountain range. Enjoy the panoramic views of Annapurna1, Annapurna South Machhapuchhare and Dhaulagiri from Poonhill. We will return to hotel for breakfast and lower down to Hille through colorful rhododendron forest.Today will be a leisure descend along the side of the valley to Hille a scenic hike we will enjoy.

We trek from Hille to New bridge and then to Kyumi village. After lunch we head down to Birethanti from where, a half-an-hour trek takes us to Naya Pul where the trek ends. From Nayapul we take a drive to Pokhara for about an hour. We might enjoy the prospects of visiting some more places around Pokhara until evening or just chill out at some restaurant near the lake.

In the morning hours we might do some last hour shopping too. After that, we drive to Kathmandu. We grab seats on the left aisle of the vehicle for the best views of the rivers along the highway because it’s our last time we’ll probably see them. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we get transferred to our hotel; and we spend the day at our own leisure.

Cost Exclusion

  • Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal and Pokhara is also the second city of Nepal. Since this city's offers high quality and delicious food from different countries and groups, we were hoping you could taste the meals you like. For that reason, during your stay in Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will have to arrange lunch and dinner (except the farewell dinner).
  • Suppose you want to take any packed food, snacks, drinks, energy drinks, mineral water, and carbonated soft drinks, any types of alcohol, cigarettes, chocolates, and nutria-bars during the trek. In that case, you have to buy it yourself.
  • Expenses incurred towards usage of Items of personal trekking equipment, laundry expenses, tips, Landlines, mobiles, satellite phones, and the internet service exclude in the package.
  • Trekking is an adventurous activity that always takes place in remote areas. So, safety is the primary factor for us. Therefore, you have to have your travel insurance covering the cost of emergency rescue, medical treatment, medical tests, and hospitalization before you arrive for the trip to Nepal.
  • The package cost offered above does not include your international flight ticket and Nepal's tourist visa, so that you have to pay for your international flight ticket and tourist visa yourself.
  • Any extra expenses arising out of various/unforeseen situations like natural disasters, landslides, political disturbances, changes in government regulations exclude.
