Concealed by the Ladakh and Karakorum mountains, the Nubra Valley in northern India remains unseen and untouched by mass tourism. Here, rare double-humped Bactrian camels share a near-unspoiled terrain with traditional shepherd camps and elusive snow leopards. The Nubra Valley lies north of Leh and was once the gateway to the ancient Silk Road. which was part of the ancient Silk Road network that stretched from India to Central Asia. The trail of this passes through the least visited areas of Ladakh. Nubra Valley Trek From Phyang To Hunder: The beauty of the untouched landscape, the stunning views from the high pass of Lasermo La and the beautiful valley of Hunder Dok will leave you spellbound. The beauty of the trek is surpassed only on the last day…and every view will leave you mesmerized.

Likewise, our Nubra Valley Trek; will start with a 2-day “acclimatization” trek from Zingchen to Stok with two nights in a homestay in the charming village of Rumbak and Stok. On the last day, you will visit the main highlights of the Nubra valley before returning to Leh through the Khardung La pass, the world’s highest motorable road.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Leh airport and transfer to hotel in Leh.
Day 2: Explore the royal palace of Old Kingdom
Day 3: Drive to Zingchen (3402m) and trek to Rumbak (3956m) 3-4 hrs
Day 4: Trek to Stok (3604m) via Stok La (4855m) from Rumbak 7-8 hours
Day 5: Drive to Phyang and visit to monastery then Camping in Murubok (4053m)
Day 6: Trek to Phyang Phu (4621m) from Murubok 3-4 hours
Day 7: Trek to South Base of Lasermo (4955m) from Phyang Phu 3-4 hours
Day 8: Trek to North Base of Lasermo (4910m) via Lasermo La (5,400m), 5-6 hours
Day 9: Trek to Hunder Dok (4061m) from North Base of Lasermo, 4-5 hours
Day 10: Trek to Hunder (3160m) from Hunder Dok, 4-5 hours
Day 11: Visit to Nubra valley (Hunder sand dunes, Diskit and Sumur monasteries).
Day 12: Drive back to Leh via Khardung La, the world’s highest motorable road.
Day 13: Free day, explore in Leh city
Day 14: Drop at the airport for the final departure.

Details Itinerary

Arrive at Leh Airport. Please look at your name placard when exiting the arrivals hall. Your trek leader will wait for you outside the arrival hall and take you to your hotel in Leh. Welcome drinks will be served and after you freshen up, your trek leader will brief you about your journey.

After breakfast proceed for sightseeing tour of Leh, which offers a number of sightseeing options for the visitors. A historic town that served as the royal capital of the Old Kingdom, it is dominated by the nine-storey palace built by King Singge Namgyal in the grand tradition of Tibetan architecture, which is said to have inspired the famous Potala in Lhasa built about half.

Drive from Leh to Zingchen, enter Hemis national park and ascends towards Rumbak village through a beautiful gorge and trek to Rumbak 3-4 hours. Over night at Rumbak homestay.

Today we walk gradually at the beginning but the trail becomes steep near the Stok La 4900m. The pass offer beautiful views of surrounding mountains and Indus valley. We descend from the pass towards Lchangma-chan then easy downhill with nice views of colorful mountains and straight down to Stok village where we stay night at homestay.

Today we drive from Stok to Phyang and visit the Phang Monastery built on the hill above the village, then Murubok where the villagers bring their animals to graze in summer. There we stay night at Camp.

This day will be though it is a short day in terms of walking, it is rather a good day. You will be driven first to the visit Murubok village and after you will begin your trek to Phyang Phu. Overnight at Camp.

After a leisurely breakfast then we will continue our trek to the base of Lasermo La (4,955m). Overnight Camp.

This day, we will our trek start early in the morning as we will cross the Lasermo Pass at (5438m). The top of the Lasermo La offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, the Indus valley and the Shyok Valley. The trail from the pass towards the camp passes through rough moraines for an hour and a half. It is important to start early, as the ponies must cross the glacier before midday in order to avoid difficulties arising from melting snow and ice. The campsite is in a beautiful meadow and offers opportunities to explore and see beautiful flowers growing at such high altitude.

Today, we will walk down through meadows, flowers, and sometimes rocks. Most of the time, you will be walking along the Hundar stream. After following the stream for a while, you will pass through shepherds' huts, where the men and women from Hundar Dok Village live with their Yaks, cows, goats and sheep where they might be seen collecting milk, cheese, butter, wild vegetables and fuel for the winter. If you feel adventurous, you can taste the delicious milk and cheese with tsampa, the traditional staple of the Ladakhi diet. Overnight at Camp.

Today after breakfast, our last day of trekking is through the beautiful Hundar Gorge, which opens up just before descending to Hundar Bridge. Before the final descent we will have a great view of Saser Kangri (7,672m), one of the highest mountains in Ladakh. Overnight at Camp.

Hunder sand dunes, formed after a historical flood in 1927, stretches several kilometres. Today, these formations mesmerize the visitors. In turn, the villagers have benefited from the economic activities around tourism. You can relish an evening on these dunes while enjoying folk dance and music. Nubra still has imprints and influence of the Yarkand culture and religion to this day. You can witness one such remnant in double-humped Bactrian Camels. The famed beasts were employed by the traders. They were mainly found in Yarkand. After the closing of the trade route due to political reasons, some of them remained in Nubra. Today, the people of Nubra have raised many batteries of Bactrian Camels for your amusement. In fact, you can hop on one and take a feel of the historical trader’s journey on the sand dunes of Hunder Village.

Expect a barren landscape covered in snow, the drive takes you to Leh via Khardung La pass, the road is one of the world's highest motoroable roads. The elevation of Khardung La at (5,359m), while this pass offers great photo opportunities.

Today on a relaxing day explore the most Tibetan Buddhist monasteries near Leh. Visit the Shey and Thiksey Monasteries, they are culturally important sites and return to your hotel.

  • Our company provided your accommodation during the trekking will be tented camping. A tent will be provided for every 2 travellers with a foam mattress. There will also be a kitchen tent, dining tent, toilet tent, table, chairs and more for your comfort.

  • The Inner Line permit issued by the DC government office of Leh is required to enter area of Nubra valley, which is at the our company provide you a (ILP) permit too.

Cost Exclusion

  • Leh is a city in the Indian Union territory of Ladakh. It is the largest city and the joint capital of Ladakh. and since this city's offers high quality and delicious food from different countries and groups, we were hoping you could taste the meals you like. For that reason, during your stay in Leh, you will have to arrange meals.
  • Suppose you want to take any packed food, snacks, drinks, energy drinks, mineral water, and carbonated soft drinks, any types of alcohol, cigarettes, chocolates, and nutria-bars during the trek. In that case, you have to buy it yourself.
  • Expenses incurred towards usage of Items of personal trekking equipment, laundry expenses, tips, Landlines, mobiles, phones, and the internet service exclude in the package.
  • Trekking is an adventurous activity that always takes place in remote areas. So, safety is the primary factor for us. Therefore, you have to have your travel insurance covering the cost of emergency rescue, medical treatment, medical tests, and hospitalization before you arrive for the trip to Ladakh.
  • The package cost offered above does not include your international flight ticket and India's tourist visa, so that you have to pay for your international flight ticket and tourist visa yourself.
  • Any extra expenses arising out of various/unforeseen situations like natural disasters, landslides, political disturbances, changes in government regulations exclude.
