Lamayuru to Tsomoriri Trek

20 Days

This trek is good for those who want to explore the western and eastern parts of Ladakh. Its slightly longer trek starts from the beautiful apricot valley of Sham (Lamayuru) and ends at Tsomoriri Lake, located in the Korjok Valley east of Leh.

Wildlife/Birds like black-necked cranes and Changpa nomads are distinctive features of the valley. On your way towards the starting point you can see monasteries/forts like Basgo, Alchi (known for Gandala art) Likir etc. This part of Ladakh is known for agriculture. People grow a variety of fruits and vegetables. Starting at an altitude of 3400m, the trek gradually decreases as it reaches Chilling and again reaches 4200m at the end of the trek.

From Lamayuru to Chilling there are three passes with an average height of 4300m and between Chilling to Tsomoriri there are three passes with an average height of 4500m. The relaxing scenery during the trek is attractive, mostly green. You will really get a chance to see a typical village and their way of life.
