Lamjung Base Camp Trek – 16 Days Overview

Lamjung Base Camp Trek is one of the lesser-known destinations in the Annapurna region and one of the rarely trekked routes. Its remote and rural treks are peaceful and uncrowded, perfect for those who want to explore the authentic beauty of Nepal. Lamjung Base Camp Located at the foot of the majestic Lamjung Mountains, this is one of the unique trekking routes in Nepal. The trek to Lamjung Base Camp starts at 3500 meters from Marsyangdi Gorge, which is very close to Lamjung Base Camp. Moreover, this trek takes place between two of the biggest cities of Nepal: Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Your journey begins with a drive from Bensisahar to Kathmandu. There are three major peaks in the region. Namely, Manaslu Himal, Himal Chuli and Lamjung Himal. A trek to Lamjung Himal Base Camp is on the bucket list of many avid trekkers. Since there are no hotels in the Lamjung region, this trek is planned as a camping trip. The trails with lodges in Nepal are becoming more crowded, and camping hiking gives you access to rural areas where hikers travel less.

The itinerary included in the package offered by AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions is a guideline and standard format, which can be modified according to your time and needs.

Day 01 :

Arrive in Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. After completing visa formalities and collecting your luggage at the airport, please exit the arrival hall. Your tour leader will be waiting for you just outside the arrival hall and will take you to hotel in Kathmandu. Please look for a placard with your name on it at the exit of the arrival hall. Then depending on the time, you will have time to walk around the hotel and familiarize yourself near hotel.

Day 02 :

Kathmandu exploration & trek orientation (1,350m)

Today is a full-day Kathmandu tour; in which you will explore various UNESCO sites in Kathmandu. We will start our tour with a visit to Pashupatinath, the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal. We will witness the Hindu cremation ceremony at Aryaghat, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. And we will visit Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. We can see the rich Tibetan culture at Boudhanath. Similarly, we will end the day’s tour by visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square, the old royal residence of Nepal.

Day 03 :

Drive from Kathmandu to Bensisahar

Starting from Kathmandu, you will drive to Bensisahar and along the way, you will enjoy a scenic drive through rivers, small towns and lush forests. When you reach Bensisahar and stay night at Lodge.

Day 04 :

Trek to Baglung Pani from Bensisahar

After breakfast, you will embark on a five to six hour trek towards Baglung Pani. You will pass through the beautiful Marsyangdi River Valley, lush forests and small settlements on the journey. When you reach Baglung Pani, check in and relax for the rest of the day.

Day 05 :

Trek to Ghanpokhara from Baglung Pani

After breakfast, we will begin a five-hour trek to Ghanpokhara. On our journey, we will pass through beautiful forests, small towns, and terraced farms. Upon reaching Ghanpokhara, we will settle in and rest for the rest of the day.

Day 06 :

Trek to Bhaisi Kharka from Ghanpokhara

Today we will trek north into the mountains and reach the seasonal Bhaisi Kharka of Bhaisi Kharka. We will experience a wonderful journey through lush forests, small streams and rugged terrain. When we reach Bhaisi Kharka, and the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 07 :

Trek to Rambrong Lower Base Camp from Bhaisi Kharka

We will begin our hike toward Rambrong Lower Basecamp after breakfast. Beautiful trees, little streams, and rugged terrain will all be encountered on our walk. We will settle into our tented camping and take the rest of the day off once we get to Rambrong Lower Base camp.

Day 08 :

Day hike to Telbrung Danda view point

We will spend the day at Rambrong Low Base Camp today, with the option of going on an outing to a prominent peak and viewing area of the Telbrung Danda. We can take pleasure in the breathtaking views of the Himalayas and the nearby valleys.

Day 09 :

Trek to Rambrong Base camp from Rambrong Lower Base Camp

We will begin our hike toward Rambrong Basecamp after breakfast. After spending the night at Rambrong Basecamp, we will hike to Rambrong West Summit (3850m). Our will have a lovely hike through the rocky and difficult terrains.

Day 10 :

Trek to Haju Dobato from Rambrong Base camp

We will begin your approximately 6-7-hour trip toward Haju Dobato after breakfast. We will climb over the picturesque Karpu Danda ridge while taking in the breathtaking vistas of the Himalayas and the nearby valleys. When you get to Haju Dobato then we stay at tent camp.

Day 11 :

Trek to Deurali from Haju Dobato

Today we will trek along the edge of the picturesque Karpu Danda mountain ridge to Deurali (3000 meters). We will have a beautiful trek through lush forests, small waterways and terraced fields. When we reach Deurali. And we stay at tent camp.

Day 12 :

Trek to Tanting from Deurali

We will depart from Karpu Danda today and trek through the jungle (1650 m) to Tanting. You will have a beautiful trek through the jungle and the amazing views of the nearby valleys. When we reach Tanting, where we will check in to our accommodation, and we will rest after the long trek.

Day 13 :

Trek to Tantingbesi then drive to Pokhara

After breakfast we will start our trek towards Tanting Besi which will take us through small streams, terraced fields and forests. Once there you will enjoy a scenic drive from Tanting Besi to Pokhara from where we will board a vehicle to Pokhara. After our drive, you can relax in Pokhara by exploring the beautiful city and visiting the lakes.

Day 15 :

Drive to Kathmandu from Pokhara

After breakfast, you will bid farewell to the precious Machhapuchhre and Annapurna Himals. You will board a tourist bus and head towards Kathmandu. Admiring the scenic beauty of the Prithvi Highway, you will reach Hotel Vajra in Kathmandu after a 6-hour drive. Relax at the hotel, remining about the past.

Day 16 :

International departure, or join alternative activities

ACCOMMODATION

We will stay in Kathmandu at Hotel Vajra and Pokhara Mount View or similar category, which will be tented camp for trekking. All this is included in the cost of the trip. While foam mattresses will be provided for tent camping. We will also provide pillow, dining tent, table, chair, solar light, shower tent, toilet tent facilities for your convenience once you reach the camping. And (cooking utensils and more)

In Kathmandu and Pokhara, your accommodation will be on a twin-sharing basis and if you wish to have a single room, upon request you will have to pay a single supplement as mentioned in the trip cost. For Trekking, in case of single by default, a single tent will be arranged for you at no extra cost.

MEALS ON THE TREK

We will serve typical Nepali cuisine, various ethnic dishes as well as all kinds of international dishes (Tibetan, Chineses, Continental, Italian, and so on, Indian cuisine) from pizza and chips to apple pie. And we will enjoy a variety of hot drinks and breakfast, including bread, eggs, pancakes, muesli, granola, konflux, porridge as well as hot milk with fresh fruits. And a hot lunch will be served on the way to our next destination. Upon reaching the destination, dinner and breakfast will be served at the campsite where we will spend the night. During the tented camping, freshly cooked hygienic food or packed food (as per the conditions) will be provided. However, in Kathmandu and Pokhara, we will only provide breakfast. Because you can taste the food you like, as there are high-quality delicious foods from different countries available. Therefore, you will have to arrange your own lunch and dinner during your stay in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

DRINKING WATER

We provide boiled water for drinking purposes on all our climbing time, homestay or camping treks. We strictly discourage the use of single-use plastic bottles such as mineral water on all our treks. Therefore, carrying a hot water bottle is highly recommended.

How difficult is the Lamjung Base Camp Trek?

Duration for treks of this grade stretches up to above two (2) weeks. Trails generally go above 4000 meters and on a daily basis, you can expect to be walking for about 5 – 7 hours, and involves occasional difficult days. Expect ups and downs as well for there will be hills to climb as well.

What is the best time to trek to Lamjung Base Camp?

The best time to trek the Lamjung Himal Trek are Autumn (from September till December) and Spring (March until May). The weather during these months tends to be clear and nice allowing us to enjoy the trekking to the fullest, and temperatures will drop considerably as you ascend higher every day. The nights are cold (between -10C to 5C) and the days are sunny and hot (between 10C to 20C). Mornings are usually clear, with clouds building up in the afternoon and disappearing at night.

How Do I Get a Visa for Nepal?

Nepal visa can be obtained on arrival at Kathmandu airport (Tribhuvan International Airport) or you can obtain Nepal visa prior to your arrival through the Nepalese embassies, diplomatic missions and consulates near your location. Nepal Visa is also issued at the entry points if you are entering Nepal by land. Here are the visa fees:

What Do I Need to Get a Nepal Visa?

To get a Nepal visa, you will need the following documents:

Do I need travel insurance for this trek?

It’s mandatory and highly recommended to get travel insurance before embarking on any adventurous trips in Nepal. We advise all our clients to get travel insurance that covers up emergency helicopter evacuation that may be needed in case of the occurrence of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) or any other reasons in high altitudes where there are no other means of transportation available. The rest of your luggage will be carried by the porter. We provide 1 porter for every 2 participants and also provide a duffel bag to hold your trekking gear.
