Langtang Valley View is one of the nearest trekking destinations from Kathmandu. It is an unparalleled combination of natural beauty and culture riches. Langtang lies about 132KM north of the Kathmandu valley close to the border with Tibet and China. The route takes to the Langtang National Park, It is Nepal’s first national park, and lies between view of the Himalayan range to the north, dominated by Langtang Lirung (7,245 m), the highest peak in the area, and smaller peaks to the south – Chimse Danda (ridge), Ganja La pass (5,122 m), Jugal Himal and Dorje Lakpa (6,989 m).
Langtang Trek Starts from Syabru Besi. It gives a way to peaceful Oaks-Rhododendron-hemlock and larch forest; after ascending an old moraine, snowy peaks suddenly loom ahead and the gorge opens into a U-shaped glacial valley prime yak pasture. Springtime is excellent for flowers here, and in autumn the berberis bushes turn a deep rust colour. Langtang (3300m), the bigger of the two, makes a good place to spend an extra night and acclimatize, while Kyanjin Gompa (3750m) boasts a small monastery, a cheese “factory” (fabulous yoghurt) and a cluster of chalet-lodges which fill up early in high season. After we land at Kathmandu International Airport, you will be greeted by our Nepali representatives who will also explain us about our trek. After the clarification, we are sent to our respective hotels to stay a night in Kathmandu.
We today travel from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi passing through Trishuli which takes approximately eight hours to arrive at Syabrubesi . On the way you will see picturesque foothills and ridgeline scenery which takes you to Syabru Besi. While passing all along the road at the shore of Trishuli River you hold a glance of Ganesh Himal.
We pass through the border on Syabru Besi’s prime road today and walk on suspension bridge above the Bhote Koshi, located to the north of the union point with Langtang River. Dense forests with a range of plants like alder, maple, oaks, bamboo and so on comes en-route. Also, you may see yellow-throated martin, langur monkey, wild boar, Himalayan black bear and several other wild animals. Moving further on the trail we will come across a river through a bridge. We constantly ascend all along the track; we then once again cross a steel suspension bridge (2000m.) abovethe Langrang River. The lane now moves to the north shore of the Langtang River with the arresting views of waterfalls. We then, go into Changtang normally known as Lama Hotel.
We today, trek from Lama Hotel to reach Langtang Village (3330m.) taking about five hours. Walking for around 2 hours, at first we reach at Ghora Tabela, a small settlement with trekker’s lodge, police checkpoint, shops and more. Then, we pass through Tamang settlements where we can see prayer wheels and Tibetan- style prayer flags. Also, we will be enchanted by the eye-catching views of the Langtang range en-route. Then, you will get there at Langtang Village, headquarter of Langtang National Park.
Our way today steadily moves further on through rich yak pastures and beautiful long-established villages of Muna to Singdun. We come across a wooden beam bridge and arrive at a wide valley after ascending a moraine. Finally, climbing along the peak passes we arrive at Kyagjin Gompa where you can see a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory.
From Kyagjin, today we will return to Lama Hotel trekking along the same path following the Langtang River to Langtang village and then walk up to Ghora Tabela. After having our lunch, we trek and then vertically move down to Lama Hotel. Overnight at guest house.
Today also we retrace the trail all the way to Sybrubesi about 4-5 hrs. For a change we will follow the so called ‘high’ route back to Syarubesi. This trail splits of the route we took upwards shortly after leaving the Lama Hotel. The route goes to the small village of Syarpagaon, and continues onto Bhanjyanggaon and then to Khangjung before descending back to Syabrubesi.
We should be ready at 6:00 morning in hotel lobby to have your breakfast or ask questions to your trekking guide. We will drive back to Kathmandu through the road passing terraces, streams, rivers, local settlements, high hills along the Trishuli river side. It takes about 7-8 hours (conditional) to reach your hotel in Kathmandu.
