The Langtang Valley trek takes you to the home of the Tamang ethnic hill tribe. Since the region is located close to Kathmandu, you will have no difficulty in reaching the trekking route. The Langtang Valley trek is best suited for those looking for a short trekking adventure with stunning mountain views and unique hill culture. Located close to the capital, the Langtang region is easily accessible from Kathmandu. Our short Langtang Valley trek takes you to the homeland of the Tamang, an ethnic group that migrated to Nepal from Tibet centuries ago. Since the region is located close to Tibet, you can see Tibetan peaks on the way to Kyanjin Gompa. See traditional Tamang houses and step inside ancient monasteries. Over the course of a few days, you will trek alongside glaciers as you descend the Langtang Mountains. The Langtang Valley was the site of the 2015 earthquake that devastated Nepal. The village of Langtang was almost completely destroyed. After the 2015 earthquake, local houses, as well as tea houses, have been rebuilt and there are now many new and modern tea houses. You don’t have to worry about climate adaptation issues as you will be trekking below 4,000 meters for most of the time. The Langtang Valley trek is a moderate level trek, ideal for those looking for a short Himalayan trekking adventure. This trek is close to Kathmandu, and there is not much elevation gain
It can be done by both experienced and novice trekkers, provided they are reasonably fit. If you are a hiker or can walk long distances without any difficulty, you can easily do this trek
The route goes up and down, and there are some steep sections along the way
Compared to treks in the Everest region and Annapurna region, the Langtang trek is less crowded
Climb Tserko Ri for its stunning natural views such as; Views of Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa (6990m), Langtang (7227m), Langtang Lirung (7200m) and Kyanjin Ri (4700m) and more peaks. While trekking, you will stay in local tea houses or mountain lodges.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. After completing visa formalities and collecting your luggage at the airport, please exit the arrival hall. Your tour leader will be waiting for you just outside the arrival hall and will take you to hotel in Kathmandu. Please look for a placard with your name on it at the exit of the arrival hall. Then depending on the time, you will have time to walk around the hotel and familiarize yourself near hotel.

Day 02 :

Explore Kathmandu and prepare for trekking

Today is a full-day Kathmandu tour; in which you will explore various UNESCO sites in Kathmandu. We will start our tour with a visit to Pashupatinath, the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal. We will witness the Hindu cremation ceremony at Aryaghat, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. And we will visit Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. We can see the rich Tibetan culture at Boudhanath. Similarly, we will end the day’s tour by visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square, the old royal residence of Nepal.

Day 03 :

Drive to Syabrubesi from Kathmandu

After breakfast we will depart Kathmandu for a 8-hour drive to Syabrubesi, a small trading town in the Langtang region. After a 30-km drive we reach the pristine villages on the banks of the Trishuli River. From here we also get to see the breathtaking views of the Himalayas including Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the peaks of the Langtang region. And spend the night at the lodge.

Day 04 :

Trek to Lama Hotel from Syabrubesi

After breakfast, the first part of our trek passes through the Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang River. The trek gradually climbs up to Bamboo (1960m) on the banks of the Langtang River. Then, we will slowly ascend to Rimche (2400 m) via Bamboo (1960m) on the banks of the Langtang River. If we are lucky, we may spot red pandas, playful monkeys and bears along the way.

Day 05 :

Trek to Langtang Village from Lama hotel

Today we continue our climb with occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung through the trees. At 3000m at Ghore Tabela, the trail emerges from the forest. As we walk, we get to see white monkeys frolicking and hear the sweet chirping of the delightful local birds. The trail gradually climbs and the valley widens, passing some makeshift settlements used by herders who bring their cattle to graze on the high pastures during the summer months. We can visit a monastery shortly before arriving at Langtang village, the headquarters of Langtang National Park. The houses in Langtang and its neighboring villages are of the Tibetan style with flat roofs, surrounded by stone walls, where we stay overnight.

Day 06 :

Trek to Kyanjin Gompa from Langtang Village

Our route gradually winds through rich yak pastures and the interesting traditional villages of Muna to Xingdun. We cross a wooden cantilever bridge and climb a moraine into a wide valley. Finally, climbing the mountain passes, we reach Kyagjin Gompa. There is a small monastery and a government-run cheese factory. We can sample some fresh cheese down here. And spend the night at our lodge.

Day 07 :

Kyanjjin Exploration Day - and Hike to Kyangjin Ri

You get to explore interesting places like the monastery, cheese factory etc. You can climb Kyangjin Ri located at 4,773m/15,656ft from where great views of snow-capped mountains are spread out in wonderful display right next to you. You can walk up the moraine to see the spectacular mountain ridges and undulating glaciers. And after hike, overnight at lodge.

Day 08 :

Trek to Lama Hotel from Kyanjin Gompa

From Kyanjin, you take revert back to Lama Hotel. As you retrace your steps, you follow the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. your haul up briefly for lunch and thereafter continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel to bunk out for the night.

Day 09 :

Trek to Syabrubesi from lama hotel

Today is the last day of the trek. We will walk through terraced fields and green hills to reach Syabrubensi. On the way, enjoy the breathtaking views of the mighty mountains, Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal. Walking through the steep forests of oak and hemlock, we will gradually descend towards the rhododendron forest and pastures to reach the Phoprang Danda. Climbing gently uphill, you will pass some Buddhist monasteries and reach the village of Syabrubensi. And stay overnight in the village of Syabrubensi.

Day 10 :

Drive to Kathmandu from Syabrubesi

The journey back to Kathmandu is an easy seven-hour cruise through beautiful highways and distinctive countryside. We check into our hotel and the rest of the day is free to relax and contemplate the wonders. Overnight at Hotel Vajra.

Day 11 :

International departures, or join optional activities

After breakfast, on our last day in Kathmandu, our vehicle and escorts will be ready to take you to the international airport three hours before your scheduled flight. It has been a great honor to meet you in the glorious Nepal Himalayas, and we pray for your safe journey home. We will remember the wonderful times we spent together. Have a nice trip!!! ACCOMMODATION

We will stay in Kathmandu at Hotel Vajra or similar category, which is a standard tea house/lodge during the trek, and this is all included in the cost of the trip. However; during the trek, your accommodation will be in simple teahouses/lodges with basic and shared facilities.

Most teahouses/lodges in the Langtang region have squat toilets: most bathrooms are usually shared but we will arrange for you and your group to stay in local lodges on a daily basis. Please note that some of them are very basic and a sense of adventure is required.

In Kathmandu, your accommodation will be on a twin-shared basis and if you wish to have a single room, upon request you will need to pay a single supplement as mentioned in the trip cost. However, please note that there are less teahouses along the trekking route that do not allow single room accommodation. Paying a supplement guarantees a room in Kathmandu, but this may not always be possible in trekking areas. It’s generally impossible to arrange private rooms. This is the case even if you’re willing to pay extra since the teahouses owners will not give out a private room if it means someone else goes without a room.

MEALS ON THE TREK

During the trek, we will serve typical Nepali food, various ethnic dishes as well as all kinds of international dishes (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, and so on, Indian cuisine) from pizza and chips to apple pie. And breakfast includes bread, eggs, pancakes, muesli, granola, konflux, porridge as well as tea, coffee and hot milk with fresh fruits. Similarly, hot lunch will be served on the way to our next destination. Upon reaching the destination, meals and breakfast will be served at the teahouse/lodge where we will spend the night. However, in Kathmandu, we will only provide breakfast. Because you can taste the food you like, as there are high-quality delicious foods from different countries available. Therefore, you will have to arrange your own lunch and dinner during your stay in Kathmandu.

DRINKING WATER

We provide boiled water for drinking purposes in all our teahouses/lodges or camping treks. We strictly discourage the use of single-use plastic bottles such as mineral water on all our treks. Therefore, it is highly recommended to carry a hot water bottle. And you can ask your staff to fill the bottle with water.

How Hard is it to trek to Langtang Valley?

Treks in this category span over one week. Treks typically go above 4000 meters and on a daily basis, you can expect to walk for about 5-7 hours. It is a great setting for an introduction to moderate to challenging trekking. The activity level/physical rating is a bit more challenging than leisure and includes occasional tough days. Expect uphill and downhill climbs too.

What is the best time to trek to Langtang Valley?

The best time to trek Langtang Valley is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November) months when the weather is favorable and suitable for climbing at high altitudes. These seasons offer crystal-clear mountain views with clear skies. The trek can also be done in February and early September but the trek is best done during the above months. Will I have to carry my own stuff for trekking?

You will only carry your day pack which will contain the essentials you will need during the hike (water, camera, extra fleece, rain jacket, sunscreen, snacks, valuables, etc.). The rest of your luggage will be carried by a porter. We provide 1 porter for every 2 participants.

What Kinds of gear are needed to Langtang Valley trek?

Langtang Valley trek is a teahouse/Lodge trek. Unlike the Camping trek, you will not be sleeping in tents but at teahouses or lodge.
