Highlights of Lobuche East Peak Climb - [6,119m/20,075ft]
- From the summit of Lobuche Peak (also known as Lobuche East), you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Everest region like; Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Pumori
- The summit offers stunning views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Pumori, among others
- You’ll have a wide view of the Khumbu region, including the glaciers, icefall, and surrounding mountains.
- Lobuche Peak is considered a great introduction to Himalayan high-altitude mountaineering, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience
- The summit itself is a rewarding experience, with the effort put into the climb with incredible vistas.
- You can also see peaks like Makalu, Thamserku, and Kangtega from Lobuche East.
Lobuche Peak Climb is popular among climbers as one of the toughest trekking peaks to climb in the Everest region. Standing tall at 6,119m, the mighty Lobuche East offers more challenges than its neighbours, Mera and Island, and it has a more technical feel to it. Lobuche climb is a better choice for those who have had some mountaineering experience in the past. Views from the summit are as glorious as anyone can imagine and the Himalayas of the Everest region has stretch out before you.
The climbers would have to face the challenges of tricky rock slabs, 45-degree ice slopes and sensational exposure throughout the Lobuche East climb route to the summit. Everest climbers prefer to climb Lobuche Peak for better acclimatization purposes before climbing Everest. Although it is not an easy peak to climb, the Lobuche summit rewards the conquerors with exhilarating views of Himalayan panorama in the Everest Khumbu region including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and other mountains and peaks.
However; In terms of difficulty, Lobuche East Peak Climb is categorized under Grade PD+ on Alpine Grading System. This peak demands technical climbing skills. A successful climb of Lobuche Peak was made only in 1984 which is quite late as compared to other commercial climbing peaks in the Everest region. Many climbers prefer to choose the southeast ridge route to the summit. Our itinerary combines Lobuche East Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek. Before moving to the peak, we do the acclimatization trek to Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar and we will return for Lobuche East Peak Climbing.

The best time for Lobuche Peak Climbing are Autumn (from October to November) and Spring (from April to May). Temperatures will drop considerably as you ascend higher every day. The nights are cold (between 5C to -5C) and the days are sunny and hot (between 10C to 20C). Mornings are usually clear, with clouds building up in the afternoon and disappearing at night. Trekking and climbing during the monsoon seasons and winters are not recommended as the high passes could be covered with snow.
Therefore: April, May, October and November are the favoured months. If you have any plan, Please contact us
Lobuche Peak climb are considered difficult to climb due to long duration trekking/climbing in remote and isolated areas going above 6000 meters and sleeping at altitude of 5000 meters for several days. Mountaineers require excellent physical condition. On the day of the summit, you will leave the base camp at 2 am and return to the base camp only in the afternoon. This grade includes the use of climbing equipment (harness, ice axe, crampons, mountaineering boots, Screwgate Carabiners, Descender/Figure of Eight). Previous experience is essential and we also provide a climbing course at base camp before the actual climb where your climbing guide will teach you the proper way to use the equipment.
It’s mandatory and highly recommended to get travel insurance before embarking on any adventurous trips. We advise all our clients to get travel insurance that covers up emergency helicopter evacuation that may be needed in case of the occurrence of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) or any other reasons in high altitudes where there are no other means of transportation available. It is advisable to review carefully the insurance and its coverages before making the final decision. More information: Travel Insurance
