The Lower Khumbu Pikey Peak Trek is a newly discovered incredible hiking trail in the Everest region. Tourist traffic is still low. From Pikey Peak, one can enjoy unparalleled views of Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Annapurna, Gaurishankar, Lhotse, Nuptse, Numbur, Sishapagma, Thamserku, Dudh Kunda Himal and Mera peaks. It is not as strenuous as the Everest Base Camp trek. But you can experience a glimpse of the Everest region within a week. Pikey Peak Trek it’s offers a one-of-a-kind perspective of Sherpa culture and panoramic views along the trail. Sherpas have a well-deserved reputation for their ever-genuine smiling faces and kindness. Apart from Sherpa, this trek is also a perfect opportunity to experience the lifestyle of other ethnic groups of Nepal like Tamang, Chhetri, Gurung and Rai too. And you can also have a real taste of the local cuisine and observe some rare plants and animals. Also it is considered as one of the most important places of natural and biological diversity. The trail also abounds in monuments such as stupas and the ever-present colorful Tibetan prayer flags.

The best views of these majestic mountains are at sunrise when the changing light reflects off their sparkling snow-white peaks. However: In this trek start from Dhap and passes through the villages of Jhapre, Junbensi and Phaplu where you stop for a night. The trail passes through lush green valleys and forests of pine and rhododendron trees. If time permits, you can visit Thupten Choling Monastery where you can observe various Buddhist rituals and chants. But: Another feature of this trek is that you are not at risk of altitude sickness as the maximum altitude of the trek is only 4070 meters above sea level. You drive from Kathmandu to the starting point of the trek called Dhap and you return to Kathmandu from Phaplu, the end point of the trek.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu Airport [1,350m/4,430ft] and transfer to hotel.
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar [2932 m\9,619ft], 7-8 hours
Day 3: Trek from Dhap Bazaar to Jhapre [2820m/9251ft], 5-6 hours
Day 4: Trek from Jhapre to Pikey Base Camp [3640m/11942ft], 5-6 hours
Day 5: Hike up to Pikey Top [4065m/13336ft] and return to Loading [2515m/8251ft], 6-7 hours
Day 6: Trek from Loading to Junbesi [2700m/8856ft], 4-5 hours
Day 7: Trek from Junbesi to Phaplu [2380m/7808ft], 5-6 hours
Day 8: Drive from Phaplu to Kathmandu [1,350m/4,430ft], 8-9 hours
