Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, is also known as the capital of Buddhism and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the four major pilgrimage sites marking the life of Buddha, making it a major pilgrimage site for Buddhists. The Lumbini pilgrimage also symbolizes the great archaeological triumph of mankind. It has 62 archaeological sites that depict various events during the Buddha’s lifetime and after.

A very important ancient site is the Mayadevi Temple, which contains ancient statues, birthstones, and ruins of Mayadevi dating from the 3rd century BCE to the 7th century BCE. The birthstone specifically marks the birthplace of Lord Buddha. The Ashoka Pillar was carved and built by Emperor Ashoka in 249 CE behind and to the west of the Mayadevi Temple. The pillar and inscription are evidence of Lumbini being the birthplace of Lord Buddha. The sacred and ancient Pushkirini Lake is located near the Ashoka Pillar and is believed to have been bathed in by Maya Devi before giving birth to Lord Buddha.

The Lumbini Museum houses Mauryan and Kushan coins, religious manuscripts, terracotta fragments, stone and metal statues, and historical artifacts related to Buddhism. The Eternal World Peace Lamp, which flows continuously 24 hours a day in the center of the Lumbini Garden, is also a major attraction. During our Lumbini tour, we also visit famous religious and archaeological sites such as Tilaurakot, Gotihawa, Kudan, Nigalihara, Devadaha, Sagarhawa, etc.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. After completing visa formalities and collecting your luggage at the airport, please exit the arrival hall. Your tour leader will be waiting for you just outside the arrival hall and will take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Please look for a placard with your name on it at the exit of the arrival hall. Then depending on the time, you will have time to walk around the hotel and familiarize yourself near hotel.

Day 02 :

Fly to Bhairahawa from Kathmandu and drive to Lumbini (22km)

In the morning we will take a 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa, from where we will drive for about 30 minutes to reach Lumbini. There, you will have a full day tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site developed under the Master Plan in an area of 6 km x 2 km. We will start our tour at the new tourist village and visit the World Peace Shivalaya and Museum. This is also a pilgrimage concept of the Master Plan to introduce Buddhism and purify the mind through the monastery area. Monasteries of Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism are spread throughout the canyon. Finally, we will visit the Mayadevi Temple, preserving the 'marker stone', the birthplace statue and the ruins of the old temple walls. The Ashoka Pillar still displays inscriptions explaining the Buddha's visit to his birthplace. Spend the night in Lumbini.

Day 03 :

Visit the World Peace Pagoda, then visit the East and West Monastery areas.

We will drive to the religious and archaeological sites of Tilaurakot, Gotihawa, Kudan, Niglihara and Sagarahawa. Tilaurakot is ancient Kapilvastu - the capital of the Shakyas, where the Buddha spent his first 29 years. Kudan was the place where the Buddha was welcomed by his father after attaining enlightenment. King Suddhodana specially built Kudan (Nigrodharma Park) for the accommodation of the Buddha and his followers. Gotihawa is the birthplace of Krakuchanda Buddha. Niglihara is the place where the Buddha was born under Kanakamuni. Sagarahawa is an archaeological find as the "place of the massacre of the Shakyas". Spend the night in Lumbini.

Day 04 :

Spend time reflecting or meditating in the sacred garden. Then, fly to Kathmandu from Gautam Buddha Airport.

We will visit religious and archaeological sites in Devdaha and Ramgram. Devdaha is the ancient capital of the Koliya kingdom. It is the maternal hometown of Queen Mayadevi (mother), Prajapati Gautami (stepmother), Princess Yashodhara (wife) and where Prince Siddhartha spent his childhood. Ramgram is a brick mound on the banks of the Jharahi River. It is a seven-meter-high brick stupa that houses the relics of Lord Buddha (one of the eight Astha Dhatu). The stupa was built by the king of Ramgram, who was the eighth king to receive the relics of the Buddha. We will return to Kathmandu in the late afternoon and bid farewell there. Day 05 :

International departure, or join optional activities
