Details Itinerary

Arrive at Leh Airport. Please look at your name placard when exiting the arrivals hall. Your trek leader will wait for you outside the arrival hall and take you to your hotel in Leh. Welcome drinks will be served and after you freshen up, your trek leader will brief you about your journey.

After breakfast proceed for sightseeing tour of Leh, which offers a number of sightseeing options for the visitors. A historic town that served as the royal capital of the Old Kingdom, it is dominated by the nine-storey palace built by King Singge Namgyal in the grand tradition of Tibetan architecture, which is said to have inspired the famous Potala in Lhasa built about half.

Today we drive from Leh to Tsokar Lake. Crossing the Indus we head south. After reaching Lathom, the view of Changthang opens up. The road climbs to Tanglang La (5300m). At the pass, at the end of the Kang Yatse range, we almost touched the snow-capped peaks. Descend into a long plain, then along a small paved road we reach Tsokar Lake, visit the small monastery of Thukje with a mysterious cave (a lamp would be useful). The view of the lake from the terraces is extraordinary, an opportunity for great photos.

Today, our short day, and we walk about four to five hours to reach Nurchan. Our campsite is set next to a beautiful stream and we can see the very scenic, saddle-shaped pass that we will cross the next day. O/N camp

The day starts with us having to cross the narrow stream, we are on the trail to cross over the first of four passes during the next three days. Today we just have to negotiate one pass, Horlam Kongka La (4840m). It's a very gradual ascent to the top, which is marked by the typical Buddhist prayer flags. One can even see Tsokar Lake from the here. From here it’s an hour and a half’s descent to the campsite.

Today is a long day, but one that will prepare you well for the summit day. Passes which are over 5000m. First up is Camayuri La (5400m) and which is visible from Rajungkaru, and is the next best saddle. The views from the top of the pass are breathtaking and looking back we could see the entire valley spread out below us. Gamma Burma La (5210m) is a long and gradual descent to climb to the next pass. Once we reach the top, we have a painful one-hour descent to the Gamma Burma campsite, which looks like a small scar from the pass.

Today will be about five (5) hours shorter than the previous day. We cross Yalegan La (5241m), the last pass of the trip. As we begin our descent, Lake Tsomoriri appears and a spectacular view of it, barren mountains, snow-capped peaks and lake, all in one frame. It is a long and difficult descent of two hours, descending to our camp at Karjok Phu

Today we go to Mentok Kangri base camp. Although it's another six hour day, it feels like a long day as it's all uphill, we also try to do some moraine walking and camp as close to the mountain as possible, which cuts down on the time it takes us. (On Summit Day)

After all the hard work of the past 5 days, we decide to take a breather to heal our bodies. After lunch, you can also consider it as a training day. Our team will provide training in the use of technical equipment. You will be taught how to walk on snow, use crampons, handle an ice ax, and other techniques necessary for a peak effort. Try to understand as much as possible. Try not to exhaust yourself doing this, as it will be another summit day. Additionally, you can go nearby for an altitude gain trek. Make sure you rest your body enough for a peak effort. Pack your backpack for the summit day, keep it light and easy. You will have an early dinner before waking up at midnight for the final climb. So try to sleep early to get enough sleep.

Today starts very early, as we will give you a wake-up call at midnight. We decide to start around 1am and make our way through the big boulders for the first hour or two. In some sections, the rocks are really loose and we have to scramble for about 15 to 20 minutes. It is a very steep climb to the ridge and once there the summit is only an hour and an half away. The view from the summit is unparalleled. For the first time in days, we will also be able to see Lake Tsomoriri.

This is a free day. Peak Climbing is a challenging task. Multiple factor like weather condition comes into action. Also, our crew members might get injured or sick from High Altitude Sickness. In such case, our schedule might get affected. This contingency day will help us to make sure that our schedule will go on smoothly without interruption even if there occur complications while climbing the peak.

Very short day today, as we descend for about two-three hours, all the way to Korzok village. Visit Korzok monastery (found in 1861 by Lama Kunga Lodos Nyingbo) village with its houses and its gompa appearing like a “Mirage”. The few barley fields at Korzok must be among the highest cultivation in the world and today you will visit the Korzok monastery and this is village where nomad people has concrete house, explore the village and walk around the lake.

The road goes through the Kagar Pass before going into the Indus Valley. From Mahe, multicolored cliffs hang us above 1000 meters, visiting the Chumathang Hot Sulfur Springs en route we find the plains of Leh at Upshi level. And we soon arrive and relax with hot coffee. (In Leh)
