Nepal Heritage Tour with Mt. Everest Flight

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal. After completing visa formalities and collecting your luggage at the airport, please exit the arrivals hall. Your tour guide will be waiting for you just outside the arrivals hall and will take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. You will then have time to explore the hotel and familiarize yourself with the surroundings.

Today, you take a one-hour mountain flight in the morning. Daily mountain flights are operated by various domestic airlines, taking off from Kathmandu Airport, offering unparalleled panoramic views of the Himalayas that take you within camera range of the world’s highest peaks. After the mountain flight, you begin a guided tour of four UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square houses the palaces of the medieval kings who ruled the erstwhile Kathmandu Kingdom. Pashupatinath houses the sacred Lingam, or phallic symbol of Lord Shiva. Aryaghat, located next to Pashupatinath and on the banks of the Bagmati River, is a famous funeral site for Hindus. The Buddhist shrine of Boudhnath is one of the largest stupas in the world, and one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage sites and tourist attractions in Kathmandu. The Boudhnath area is also famous for its more than 50 Tibetan gompas or monasteries. Swayambhu means “self-existent” and is popular among foreigners as the Monkey Temple due to the large number of monkeys that inhabit the area. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

Start your tour of the two UNESCO World Heritage Sites cities that are adjacent to Kathmandu: Patan and Bhaktapur. Patan is also known as the City of Fine Arts. Patan Durbar Square is one of those places in the Kathmandu Valley where medieval art and architecture still survive in its original state. Durbar Square is filled with ancient sites, temples, and shrines, which are famous for their exquisite carvings, mostly Hindu and Buddhist monuments. Similarly, the medieval city of Bhaktapur, or the City of Devotees, preserves medieval art, architecture, culture, and lifestyle to this day. Walking through the squares, squares, and streets of Bhaktapur feels like traveling back in time. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

Today you will have breakfast and proceed to Chitwan, which is 150 km from Kathmandu and is a 4-5 hour drive through the mountains. The entire way you will descend along the winding road along the banks of the Trishuli River. After checking in to the hotel and freshening up, you will be briefed about the complete nature programs by your nature guide. Then you will proceed to the activities. There will be a guided village walk and a walk along the banks of the Rapti River to witness the mesmerizing sunset views in the sub-tropical forest. In the evening, dinner with a cultural program by the ethnic tribes including their Lathi dance and tribal drums. Spend the night in Chitwan.

Chitwan National Park has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Today you will discover why national parks play a vital role in the conservation of wildlife that is rapidly disappearing from this planet. You will see water buffalo, buffaloes, hyenas and deer in their natural habitat. The park is also home to rhinos, tigers, leopards, sloth bears, wild bison, Gangetic dolphins, 500 species of birds, butterflies, as well as the nearly extinct Gharial crocodile. You can do many activities here - elephant safaris, nature walks, bird watching, jungle drives or boat trips. You can bathe with elephants and learn how to wash your own! Don't forget to capture a video of your elephant-bathing that will be one of the most cherished memories of a lifetime. Spend the night in Chitwan.

After enjoying bird watching or jungle safari this morning, you will travel to Lumbini, another World Heritage Site, located about 190 km from Chitwan and a 4-hour drive to the southwest. Lumbini is not only the most important Buddhist pilgrimage site, it is not only the birthplace of Buddha, it is also an important architectural and historical site of world civilization. Upon reaching Lumbini, you will explore some of the major landmarks and monuments of Lumbini such as: Mayadevi Temple where Buddha was born, Ashoka Pillar erected by Emperor Ashoka (249 BC), and various other temples and monasteries established by devotees from different countries: Tibetan, Chinese, Japanese and Burmese, Korean, etc. Spend the night in Lumbini.

Today you will travel to Pokhara, about 290 km northeast of Pokhara, which will take about 6-7 hours. We will drive the same way we came until we reach Mugling. From Mugling, you will drive west into the mountains, following the rivers for most of the day. Pokhara, also known as the city of lakes, is one of the most beautiful places not only in Nepal but on Earth. The city offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, the five peaks of Annapurna and others. Pokhara is also the gateway to trekking in the Annapurna region. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you will visit some of the markets, old markets and landmarks of Pokhara. In the evening, explore the surrounding lakeside areas. Spend the night in Pokhara.

You spend a full day exploring Pokhara. Early in the morning you drive to the Sarangkot hills to watch the sunrise over the Himalayas. After breakfast, you will go on a full day sightseeing tour of Pokhara. Walk along the banks of Fewa Lake, enjoying the amazing reflection of the fish tail peak in the blue Fewa Lake water. You will also take a boat ride around Fewa Lake, the second largest lake in Nepal. You will take a boat across the lake and take an hour-long walk to the World Peace Stupa. You will also take a short visit to the Gupteshwar Gufa Cave (also known as Shiva Cave). Some of the other places you will visit today include the Seti River Ghat, Devi’s Fall, and the Hill Museum, etc. Spend the night in Pokhara.

After breakfast, you will begin your 200 km drive back to Kathmandu. It is best to hold onto the left side of the vehicle to enjoy the views along the way. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. There is nothing left to do but exchange emails with travel companions and organize photos. To celebrate the successful conclusion of your trip, you will attend a farewell dinner hosted by AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions.
