One Day Island Peak Climbing 6189m. – 1 Day

Island Peak or Ijma Tse is one of the most renowned Himalayan Mountains widely known for its appearance of an island adrift on a sea of ice.
In 1953, Eric Shipton’s group entitled the peak as Island since it looks a lot like an island in a sea of frost when sighted from Dingboche. The peak was renamed Ijma Tse in 1983. Island peak is known as an alternate for Everest who is keen to learn the art of mountain climbing. You will get a standardized viewpoint to watch the world’s highest peak- Mount Everest.
Magnificent panorama of the immense Himalayas like Lhotse (8,501m.), Nuptse (7,879m.), Lhotse Shar (8,383m.), and Makalu (8475m.), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410m.) in the east, Amadablam and Baruntse in the south welcome you as you reach the Ijma Tse/Island Peak.
The best seasons for Island Peak climbing are spring and autumn. Though the summit is physically demanding, it’s not technically challenging. It offers one of the easiest and safest climbing experiences in the Himalayas.
The summit stands adjacent to the world’s largest ice walls offering stunning views of its neighboring Himalayan Mountains that dominate the skyline.

Trip Itinerary for Island Peak climbing – 1 day (From Base Camp)

As there is strong wind after midday we need to wake up early morning around at 1:00 AM; have a breakfast and begin ascending the peak. It takes approximately 9 hours to reach on the top. At the summit we reward ourselves with the glorious view that surrounds us. The trail is challenging because the higher the narrower it is. After celebrating the success, we descend back to the Base Camp following the same trail.

Island Peak Climb 6,189 m.

Climbing Island Peak requires technical skills as the route takes us through a scramble of rock, ridges, and glaciers. We need to climb through the steep section to reach the summit that allows views of Lhotse, Amadablam, and other surrounding peaks and mountains.
