A beautiful 17-day trek in the Rollwaling Himalayan range of northeastern Nepal, the Tashi Lapcha pass Trek is one of the best treks in Nepal, taking you from the famous Gaurishankar Conservation Area to the Rollwaling Valley and then on to the Everest region. Its Tashi Lapcha pass (5,755m/18,882ft) offers panoramic views of Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Gaurishankar and many more peaks.
This adventure trek is set off the beaten track in the Rollwaling Valley, leading to the stunning Tso Rolpa, one of Nepal’s largest glacial lakes. The challenging Tashi Lapcha pass adds to the experience. Furthermore, the wilderness route joins the busy classic Everest trekking route in the temperate and sub-alpine terrain of the Sagarmatha National Park.
Our itinerary begins with a drive to the Gongor River northeast of Kathmandu, from where the trek proceeds to the villages of Simigaun, Dhongang, Beding and Na in the Rolwaling Valley. After proper acclimatization, our trek crosses the Tashi Lapcha Pass. Our trek then descends to Thame, as the Dudh Koshi River opens up into the valley. Our trek continues via Namche Bazaar to Lukla, then finally you will takes a scenic flight back to Kathmandu.
The Rolwaling Valley has some difficult and technical terrain that makes this trek difficult. One of the highest passes in Nepal, the Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755 meters/18,882 feet), adds to the difficulty as it involves steep climbs over steep and rocky trails that require a lot of patience and concentration. Climbing and reaching the Tashi Lapcha Pass requires physical fitness and previous trekking knowledge as it crosses deep gorges and icy steps.
The trek takes more than two weeks to cross the challenging Tashi Lapcha Pass, so it is a physically demanding trek best suited for trekkers with experience in high altitude trekking. However, with the help of a guide and proper prior training, one can successfully complete the trek, which will become a story for a lifetime.
