Saribung Pass Trek

22 Days

Saribung Pass Trek (Upper Mustang to Nar-Phu Valley Trek), 22-days

The Saribung Pass Trek is one of the most challenging and demanding treks in Nepal that connects the restricted areas of Upper Mustang with the picturesque Nar Phu Valley via the frozen Saribung Pass (6,020m). Saribung is the highest mountain in Nepal offering a panoramic view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges from the Mustang region. Apart from the spectacular views from the top of the difficult pass, the Saribung Pass trek is full of fascinating landscapes and one-of-a-kind culture of the remote parts of western Nepal.

The 22-day long Saribung Pass trek starts with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara followed by another flight from Kaligandaki Ghat to Jomsom. The trek begins with your arrival at Jomsom as you drive through the beautiful Kali Gandaki Valley. On the way, you pass through amazing places like Kagbeni, Chaile, and Geling to reach Lo-Manthang. Lo-Manthang is the capital of the ancient kingdom of Mustang, which allows you to experience a blend of fascinating natural beauty as well as ancient Tibetan culture. In search of Upper Mustang, the trail moves through Saribung Pass (6,020m) into the Nar Phu Valley, which is snow-covered almost all year round as it lies at the base of Saribung Peak (6328m). On the way to Saribung Peak (6328m) one goes through many extraordinary passes with ice and creases which make this trek more interesting. After a difficult ascent of the Saribung Pass (6,020m), the Nar Phu Valley is reached. You visit the traditional village of Phu for a unique cultural experience accompanied by a breath-taking view of the surrounding peaks. The strenuous trek comes to an end as you leave Nar Phu. Finally Kathmandu.
