Sikkim Dzongri Trek

Duration for treks of this grade stretches up to two (2) weeks. Trails generally go above 4000 meters and on a daily basis, you can expect to be walking for about 5 – 7 hours. The perfect setting of introduction to moderate & challenging trekking in Nepal. Activity level/physical rating is slightly harder than leisure and involves occasional difficult days. Expect ups and downs as well for there will be hills to climb as well.

The best time to trek is in autumn (September to December) and spring (March to May). During these months, the weather will be clear and nice, allowing us to fully enjoy the trek, and the temperature will drop significantly as we climb higher each day. The nights are still cold (-10°C to 5°C) but the days are sunny and warm (10°C to 20°C). The mornings are usually clear, and clouds appear during the day and disappear at night. However, it is advisable to trek during these months.

A valid passport and tourist visa are required to visit India. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into India. To get a India visa, you will need the following documents:

• Two recent passport-sized photographs with a light (white) background.
• Cash (USD) depending on the number of days you plan to stay in India.
• A passport valid for at least six months.

Yes, it is required. Due to its proximity to the China/Tibet border, a permit known as an Inner-Line Permit (ILP) or Restricted Area Permit (RAP) is required to enter every part of Sikkim. It is issued by the Sikkim Tourism Office, New Delhi and Gamgtok.

It’s mandatory and highly recommended to get travel insurance before embarking on any adventurous trips. We advise all our clients to get travel insurance that covers up emergency helicopter evacuation that may be needed in case of the occurrence of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) or any other reasons in high altitudes where there are no other means of transportation available. You will be led by our highly Experienced Mountain trekking guides, who have years of experience having visited Sikkim Dzongri Trek multiple times. All of our guides are full-time employees, not freelancers, and are local experts fluent in English. They have extensive knowledge of the mountain, its people, culture, health, hygiene, and most importantly, your safety.

The guides have many years of guiding experience in Sikkim Trekking. Most of have been exploring the Himalayas for years. Our guides are also trained in first aid and know how to handle any situation. All our guides speak fluent English and are happy to share their in-depth knowledge of Sikkim culture, geography, flora, festivals, lifestyle with you. It is not enough to take visitors to special places or special cultures, but we must provide guides who can engage, explain well and entertain people with what they are experiencing. They are well-versed in how to make the journey comfortable and safe while appreciating the beauty of the Himalayas.

You will only carry your day pack which will contain the essentials needed during the trek (water, camera, extra fleece, rain jacket, sunscreen, snacks, valuables etc.). The rest of your luggage will be carried by mules, where there will be a fully supportive camping team.

It is customary to tip your staff on treks to appreciate the wonderful people who help make your trek enjoyable and comfortable. Please note, 100% of your tips go to the staff.

We recommend the following:

Tip the guide 10% of your trip cost.
Tip the chef (cook) 8% of your trip cost.

Tip the staff; It is customary to tip kitchen staff and porters based on the number of people, which ranges from USD80 to 100 per person, i.e. if you are five hikers, you pay USD16 to 20 per porter.
