Sikkim Goeche La is a trek in Sikkim state of India over in the Eastern Himalaya with views of Kanchenjunga the third highest mountain in the world.

Your journey starts by visiting the old British Raj hill station of Darjeeling followed by a classic eight day trek in Sikkim. This state of India is famous for its large variety of flora especially its orchids of which they are over 600 species. At the beginning of this beautiful trek you walk through sub-tropical forests and pasturelands of grazing yaks and then enter the pristine high alpine at higher altitudes.

The highest Camp on the trek is next to the sacred Samiti Lake, and the next morning we start early for the trek to the Goecha La pass opposite the immense eastern flank of Mt Kanchenjunga. There are many other impressive mountains seen on this trek including Kabru, Rathong and Pandim. After the trek we visit the hill station of Kalimpong. In Kalimpong you have the chance to visit a Buddhist monastery and orchid nursery or just to relax in the gardens of the hotel with a cup of tea enjoying views of Kanchenjunga. The hill station of Kalimpong. You can relax here for the rest of the day while enjoying the views of the surrounding Himalayan foothills. Next; after breakfast we drive down to Bagdogra airport from Kalimpong hotel.

Because, in order to provide you with a reasonable price and try to address your every need, we would like to provide you with some information. Which will help your trip.

The above itinerary is a standard guideline that AlpineTrav Treks provides you with advice and tips. And this itinerary can be modified according to your time and needs.
After our trip is confirmed, the price will be adjusted in our contract, if the customer wants to add some services, we will charge for those additional services and if he wants to reduce some services, we will reduce the fee accordingly.
Itinerary is published in full board operation services for clear understanding of the customer. Among many options such as hotel facilities in Leh, the client can make own choice.

Day 1 :

Arrive at Bagdogra airport and drive to Darjeeling 4 hours.

Arrive at Bagdogra Airport. The drive to Darjeeling takes around 4 hours and follows the famous Darjeeling Toy Train. After arriving at the hotel, the rest of the time is at your own leisure.

Day 2 :

Morning excursion to tiger hill (2573m) and rest of day sightseeing in Darjeeling

Today we will visit the tourist places of Darjeeling. Take a morning hike to Tiger Hill for sunrise views of the Kanchenjunga hills. Then visit the famous Ghoom Monastery where Buddha is enshrines and visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tibetan Refugee Center, Tea Gardens, Japanese Temple and some other attractions in Darjeeling.

Day 3 :

Drive to Yuksom (1,770m), from Darjeeling, 5-6 hours

After breakfast, trek back the same trail till Kokchurung, from where we take another trail via Phedang to Tshoka. Hot lunch at Phedang and continue to walk to Tshoka.

Day 4 :

Trek to Tshoka (3,050m), from Yuksom, 6-7 hours

Today we will begin our trek through a small village and stop at the Kanchendzonga National Park, check post for checking formalities. Continue to walk through semi-tropical forests, home to a variety of flora and fauna. Crossing the last of the two hanging bridges over rivers Paha Khola and Tshuchey, we arrive at Sachen. Break for lunch and continue to walk to Bahkim. We cross a long old swinging bridge over Prek-Chu, it’s a steep climb of 70 degrees uphill to Bakhim and we continue climbing steeply to the Tibetan Refugee settlement of Tsokha as we trek through pine and giant rhododendron forests. Here we also get our first view of Mt.Pandim (6780m) and Mt. Tenchinkhang. Night at Tshoka

Day 5 :

Trek to Phedang (3,650m), from Tshoka, 4-5 hours

The route continues to climb up to the Alp of Phedang through a forest of rhododendrons. A forest walk is beautiful during the monsoon season with many flowering plants.

Day 6 :

Trek to Dzongri (3,990m), from Phidang, 4-5 hours

Today we extend the trail levels above Phedang from here one can see the best views of Pandim. Then we descend to the open yak pastures of Dzongri where we camp for two nights.

Day 7 :

Dzongri Acclimatization to Dzongri la (4300m)

Rest day for acclimatization. Rise early at dawn, a 1 hour steep hike amidst thin air to Dabla Gang (Dzongri-la OR viewpoint) to view the sunrise on Kangchenjunga and the neighboring peaks; Rathong (6683m) Kokthang (6150m), Kabru Dome 6604m and Forked Peak (6116m) then return to camp for breakfast. Free to explore, Day hike to Laxmi Pokhari or take a walk toward the Black peak for acclimatization from where we can see Frey’s peak and the Rathong valley. Return to the campsite.

Day 8 :

Trek to Onglathang (4,000m) from Dzongri, 6-7 hours

From Dzongri there is an open mountain walk before a steep descent to Thangsing in the Prek Chu Valley. We descend through a dense jungle of rhododendrons, and cross a river, climbing up through a pine forest to Thangsing. After lunch in Thangsing, we proceed to Prek Chu Valley with the magnificent Pandim above.

Day 9 :

Trek to Goeche La (4,940m) and to Thangshing (3,930m), 7-8 hours

After an early start, we climb the hill behind the campsite and soon arrive at the beautiful turquoise Lake Samiti (it is no longer possible to camp at the lake). The trail follows the moraine and then descends to the sandy bed of an empty lake at Zemathang. We cross under the shadow of Pandim and then ascend moraine to about 4,710m. After passing a frozen lake which is dotted with snow and ice pinnacles we walk along the path to Goecha la. The pass is bedecked in colourful Tibetan prayer flags and has incredible views of the east flank of Kanchenjunga. The Goecha la is formed by a depression between Pandim and the Kabru spurs. It overlooks the Talung Valley and commands a very impressive view of Kanchenjunga. The descent follows the same trail back to Onglathang. After lunch, we continue on down to Thangsing where we spend the night.

Day 10 :

Trek to Tshoka (3,050m), from Thangshing 6-7 hours

Leaving Thangsing we take a different route back avoiding the long climb to the Dzongri plateau. We descend along the Prek Chu river and contour round through the jungle to emerge at Phidang again. From here it is a steep walk down to Tshoka where we spend the night.

Day 11 :

Trek to Yuksom (1,770m), from Tshoka, 6-7 hours

It is downhill today to the river and then we follow the trail through lush, semi-tropical forest until we arrive back at Yuksom. We stay in the comfortable Hotel in Yuksom to night. In the afternoon we can explore Yuksom or just relax after the trek.

Day 12 :

Drive to Kalimpong, from Yuksom, 5-6 hours

We wake up early in the morning, enjoy breakfast and prepare to return to Bagdogra. Enjoy the last day drive to Bagdogra Airport and transfer to Bagdogra Airport, and take flight to your destination.

Day 13 :

Drive to Bagdogra airport from Kalimpong

We wake up early in the morning, enjoy our breakfast and get ready for back to Bagdogra. Enjoy the last day drive to Bagdogra Airport and transfer to Bagdogra Airport.

AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions provide pick-up and drop services from Bagdogra airport on your arrivals and departures.
Our representative of company will be waiting for you on arrival in Bagdogra airport with your name of placard so you can easily find our person then drive to Darjeeling 3-4 hours. And transfer to your demanded category hotel.
According to the trekking package schedule, we will arranged three nights your demanded category (from tourist star to five-star) at hotel accommodations in Darjeeling and Kalimpong's.
Transportation will be provide from Bagdogra to Darjeeling and Darjeeling to Yuksom - Yuksom to Kalimpong and Kalimpong to Bagdogra for members and associated staff as per itinerary above.
Our company provide Experienced and government authorized (licensed holder) high altitude trekking guide during the trekking period.
Our company provide full support camping crew with 1 professional cook and kitchen staffs during the trekking period.
Our company provided your accommodation during the trekking will be tented camping. A tent will be provided for every 2 travellers with a foam mattress. There will also be a kitchen tent, dining tent, toilet tent, table, chairs and more for your comfort.
Our company if in case of a single by default, will arrange a single tent for you at no additional cost.
We will provide clean and warm down sleeping bag during the trekking, taking care of your comfort and health. (Sleeping bag must be returned after completion of trek)
As with most trekking trails, day pack-lunch is midway between the start and end of the day's trek while Freshly prepared meals (Breakfast and Dinner) with boiled water, tea, coffee are served at the camp where your overnight-stay.
Our company provides nutritious, clean and fresh (breakfast, lunch and dinner) with tea/coffee, Fruitcocktail, Deserts and fresh fruits boiled water all services for during the trekking's.
Will be provided a porters or mules for camping trekking equipments with 1:3 assistant guide to clients ratio.
As Sikkim Kanchenjunga is at the Kanchenjunga National Park territory, AlpineTrav Treks will provide you a permit for Kanchenjunga National Park.
The Inner Line permit issued by the government office of Sikkim is required to enter area of Kanchenjunga, is at the AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions provide you a Inner Line (ILP) permit too.
Our company provides wages, clinical, equipment, and insurance for all elaborate camping trekking staffs.
We provide first aid medical kits for the group and the staff, taking care of your trekking and health safety.
The above offer package includes our official charges and government taxes and vat.

Cost Exclusion

Darjeeling and Kalimpong city of India. Since this citys offers high quality and delicious food from different countries and groups, we were hoping you could taste the meals you like. For that reason, during your stay in Darjeeling and Kalimpong, you will have to arrange lunch and dinner.
Suppose you want to take any packed food, snacks, drinks, energy drinks, mineral water, and carbonated soft drinks, any types of alcohol, cigarettes, chocolates, and nutria-bars during the trek. In that case, you have to buy it yourself.
Expenses incurred towards usage of Items of personal trekking equipment, laundry expenses, tips, Landlines, mobiles, phones, and the internet service exclude in the package.
Trekking is an adventurous activity that always takes place in remote areas. So, safety is the primary factor for us. Therefore, you have to have your travel insurance covering the cost of emergency rescue, medical treatment, medical tests, and hospitalization before you arrive for the trip to Kanchenjunga.
The package cost offered above does not include your international flight ticket and India's tourist visa, so that you have to pay for your international flight ticket and tourist visa yourself.
Any extra expenses arising out of various/unforeseen situations like natural disasters, landslides, political disturbances, changes in government regulations exclude.
The short sentence, "The services we provide in the above package cost inclusive," will cost extra if you want more than additional services you have to pay extra.
Those Employees who are involved in your trekking are hoping for tips, gifts, or something at the end of the trip, which is an opportunity to say how happy you are with our staff and what kind of service you have rendered.

Trekking Just finished the Langtang and Gosainkund Trek. The guided trekking was a lifetime experience and the guides were able to satisfy the needs and wishes of the group. The organisation of alpinetrav with Ram who managed the trip did a great job and everything was well organized. I'd highly recommend alpinetrav if you're going to visit Nepal. I also did paragliding which is an awesome adventure as well! If there is a chance for another trip to Nepal I'd book my activities with alpinetrav again!

PV-Power Project in Mirge, Langtang/Gosainkund Trekking, Paragliding Pokhara Great organization! Working in Mirge definitely was fun. The villagers were super friendly by the way. Very informal atmosphere and a really fair price. We did the Langtang / Gosainkund Track with the fantastic guides Ginesh and Prem, everything went smoothly. Every question was answered and we spent some great local-wine-evenings with them. We also saw some lazy monkeys ;-) After that we were lucky and spent holi in Kathmandu. Last but not least we've been paragliding in Pokhara. Such a great time! We will be back!

Project in Mirge and Langtang Trip As some people before I make a solar project in Mirge too. It was my second time. I also was for 1,5 years before there. In both time it was a good organisation from Ram. He also makes it possible that I can come a few days after the other of the group and go earlier. Also a big praise goes on our guids (Basnet Ginesh and Brämm (I don't know if I wrote them right ;)). On our trip we have big fun with them and they led us good through the mountains. We wantet to do after the solar project the langtang valley and the Gosaikunda Trek. But at the Gosaikunda was to much snow so we must to return before it gets to much snow. They do this good always in consulation with us. Thank you very much for all this experience.

Highly customiced holiday experience in Nepal. I would not want to do this without inside management. We visited Nepal in groupe organiced by our University. Our trip was devided into two weeks of sotial aid where we installed solar panels in a mountain village called Mirge and in two weeks of induvidual trecking. My plan was to walk the Number-Chees-Surcuit solo and fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla Air Port. Ram from Alpintrav organized our hole trip. He picked us up from the Airport with a great Nepali welcome, brought us to our Hotel, organized our Transportation to and from Mirge. He checked on us often enaugh so that we felt safe at all times. Traveling in Nepal can be confusing due to horrible road conditions and overcroded streeds and because there is for me no recorgnizable strukture in the Bus sistem. So there where several situation where I was greatful to have a local at my side. For my trecking tour I did not need any gide or teehouses, only transportation. It was nice that Ram did not try to sell or convince me to book anything I had not planed to. Still he went carefully through my planned rout and could give me detailed information, for example if a campside did not have water at this time of year. Unfortinatelly I had to cancel my trip early during the first two weeks. But Ram adapted quick to my change of plan and acompined my to Kathmandu where I was his guest for one night and he brought me to the Airport the next day.

Exhilarating trek to Annapurna Base Camp A good friend of mine who did several multi-week treks in Nepal suggested Ram to me to organize our trek to the Annapurna Base Camp. I contacted him over email and every request and question were answered in a precise and timely fashion. His detailed plan included pickup at the airport, flying to Pokhara, 10-day trek itinerary, sight-seeing in and around Kathmandu and final drop-off at the airport. He organized for us an excellent team, a knowledgeable guide, and two wonderful porters. Ram was very accommodating with some of my special requests and he even reorganized our route during the trek due to a team member’s illness. Excellent 10 day trek to Annapurna Base Camp We were a group of 4 people who did a 10 day trek to Annapurna Base Camp in October 2019. Ram, the owner of AlpineTrav, arranged the details of our entire trip from the moment we arrived in Kathmandu until our departure.
