Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Bagdogra and drive to Darjeeling 4-5 hours.
Day 2: Visit to Major places at Darjeeling
Day 3: Drive to Manebhanjang from Darjeeling and trek to Tonglu 3-4 hours.
Day 4: Trek to Gairibas (2620m) from Tonglu 4-5 hours.
Day 5: Trek to Sandakphu (3640m) from Gairibas 4-5 hours.
Day 6: Trek to Phalut (3600m) from Sandakphu 5-6 hours.
Day 7: Trek to Ramam (2560m) from Phalut 5-6 hours.
Day 8: Trek to Rimbik (2280m) from Ramam 7-8 hours.
Day 9: Drive to Yuksam (1785m) 7-8 hrs from Rimbik
Day 10: Yuksom rest and short hiking (1785m)
Day 11: Trek to Tshoka (3050m) from Yuksam 6-7 hrs
Day 12: Trek to Dzongri (4030m) from Tsokha 5-6 hrs
Day 13: Dzongri Acclimatization to Dzongrila (4300m)
Day 14: Trek to Thangsing (3930m) from Dzongri 5-6 hrs
Day 15: Trek to Lamune (4130m) from Thangsing 3-4 hrs
Day 16: Hike up to Goechala (4940m) 5 hrs and return to Thangsing for night.

  • The included itinerary above price is a guideline standard and camping style pattern which AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions advises you. This trekking itinerary can be modified according to your time and requirements.
  • The itinerary shall be changed after an understanding between both AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions and the client. Additional activities could be either added or reduced as per client's request before the confirmation of the trip.
  • Price above the shall be adjusted in our mutual understanding, that is, if the client intends to add some services we shall charge him/her for those additional services and if he/she intends to lessen some services, we shall wave the charges accordingly.
  • The itinerary is published in full board operation camping style services for the clear understanding of the client. Among many options such as hotel facilities in Darjeeling, the client can make his/her own choice.
  • The cost is also affected by the number of employees‒ guides and mules.

Details Itinerary

Arrive at Bagdogra, Airport, please exit from the arrival hall. Look for your name placard as you exit the arrivals hall. Your trek leader will wait for you outside the arrival hall, then drive to Darjeeling 4-5 hours. Upon arrival at Darjeeling hotel, welcome drinks will be served and after you freshen up, your trek leader will brief you about your trip.

Today we will visit the tourist places of Darjeeling. Take a morning hike to Tiger Hill for sunrise views of the Kanchenjunga hills. Then visit the famous Ghoom Monastery where Buddha is enshrines and visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tibetan Refugee Center, Tea Gardens, Japanese Temple and some other attractions in Darjeeling.

Today we Drive early morning from Darjeeling to Maneybhanjyang to start the trek. We will hike up to Tonglu (3070 m), from Manebhanjang and would take up to 5-6 hours to reach. En route, we will pass through pine, fir, birch, bamboo glades and reach another tiny Buddhist settlement, Chitre (2530 m). This will be a quite steep uphill climb on a stoned pathway. Crossing Chitre we will reach a small hamlet Meghma (2900m). The route bifurcates here for Tonglu and Tumling but meets again at Tumling. Tonglu is just 2 km from here and commands an excellent view of the entire Himalayan Mountains. From Tumling on clear nights, one could see dazzling night-lights of Darjeeling Kurseong, Pasupati town, and Siliguri.

Today we will take a pleasant walk through the forest which is home to the rare red panda and Tragopan. Wake up early to witness the magical golden sunrise behind the Himalayan range. Today will be a rewarding day as we will enter the famous Singalila National Park (declared a National Park of India in 1992) and discover some exotic plants of the mountains and if luck shines on us, we will also encounter a Red Panda. After breakfast, we will start with an easy downhill trek to Gairibas (2621m). It takes about 3 hours to reach Gairibas from this small village Tonglu.

After breakfast, start the trek to Sandakphu (3636 m) which takes about 6 hours to cross the breathtaking Kalipokhari on the way. The highlight of the Singlila trekking route is also known as 'Trekkers' Paradise' - a 360-degree panoramic view from the top of Sandakphu (3636m) and a panoramic view of the entire Himalayan belt among the pine trees and fluttering prayer flags. Mount Everest, the highest peak of Nepal, Lhotse, Makalu and Sikkim's patron deity Mount Kanchanjonga and Pandim are all visible in a constant arc on the horizon. While the foreground valley is surrounded by hills covered with rhododendron and silver fir trees. It is a magical place to spend the day and night. Stay at Sandhakfu for the night.

Today we will again wake up early in the morning to witness the golden rays of the morning sun shining on the white snow of the Himalayas Mountains. The trail from Sandakphu to Phalut is one of the most spectacular, Scenic, and Enjoyable. We will cross through thick rhododendron, oak, pine trees but the burned silver fir forest makes the most of the beautiful and dramatic landscape. we might spot some yak herds at the lakesides on the way and we will also visit the roofless stone house on a small hillock in Sabarkum close by. At the same time, the whole range of snowy peaks is always in view and the trail passes through high altitude vegetation.

Wake up early in the morning to witness the magical sunrise behind the majestic Himalayan mountains. Today the trail descends from Falut and takes us through dense virgin forests of chestnut, pine, hemlock and more. After breakfast start walking through Gorkhekhola where two small rivers meet. If the weather is favorable, you can swim in the flowing river for a short time. Later start trekking to Rama via Samandin.

Today is the last day of the sandhakphu Darjeeling trek. The trek is about 19 km from Ramman to Rimbik. The road is almost level for 9km and then descends to reach Sirikhola (river). From here we will hike uphill to reach Rimbik. En route, we will be passing through quaint hamlets and their farmlands. Overnight at Rimbik.

Today after breakfast we will drive towards Yuksam, Sikkim via Ramam / Malli check post for further trek onto Sikkim side. On the way, we will stop at a check post for Inner Line Permit formalities and paperwork. Today’s drive will be through beautiful Himalayan terrain, tea garden, and picturesque forest. Upon arrival at Yuksam check into Hotel. Evening free to explore the beautiful small Yuksam village.

After breakfast we will walk uphill for an hour or so through the beautiful dense semi tropical forest to visit the Sikkim’s oldest monastery DUBDI MONASTERY. After spending your good time in the monastery walk back to Yuksam village through the subba community village along with the visit to KATHOK LAKE. After lunch visit the CORONATION THRONE and NORBUGANG CHORTEN.

Today we will begin our trek through a small village and stop at the Kanchendzonga National Park, check post for checking formalities. Continue to walk through semi-tropical forests, home to a variety of flora and fauna. Crossing the last of the two hanging bridges over rivers Paha Khola and Tshuchey, we arrive at Sachen. Break for lunch and continue to walk to Bahkim. We cross a long old swinging bridge over Prek-Chu, it’s a steep climb of 70 degrees uphill to Bakhim and we continue climbing steeply to the Tibetan Refugee settlement of Tsokha as we trek through pine and giant rhododendron forests. Here we also get our first view of Mt.Pandim (6780m) and Mt. Tenchinkhang. Night at Tshoka

Today we continue our uphill journey through the temperate forest till Phedang (3550m), a large clearing in the forest with excellent views of the Kanchenjunga range of mountains. After lunch, it’s a 1hour steep walk, as we reach the ridge’s top, Deurali Danda, or Windy hill which one gets the awesome views of the Sikkim Mountains and its peaks. A nice leisurely trails walks through the rhododendron trees and juniper bushes before we reach Dzongri.

Rest day for acclimatization. Rise early at dawn, a 1 hour steep hike amidst thin air to Dabla Gang (Dzongri-la OR viewpoint) to view the sunrise on Kangchenjunga and the neighboring peaks; Rathong (6683m) Kokthang (6150m), Kabru Dome 6604m and Forked Peak (6116m) then return to camp for breakfast. Free to explore, Day hike to Laxmi Pokhari or take a walk toward the Black peak for acclimatization from where we can see Frey’s peak and the Rathong valley. Return to the campsite.

The day’s walk starts with a short climb to a ridge followed by a rapid steep descend of 100m to Kockchurung and Prek river. Continue crossing some boulders and climb gently to the campsite of Thangsing for our lunch with a view of Mt. Pandim and Mt. Kanchenjunga.

This day walk to camp at Lamune. While the camp is set up, we take a walk to Samiti Lake, 4453m with Kanchenjunga looming ahead of us. The trail goes past stunted rhododendron bushes, azaleas, and past a prayer wall before ascending a moraine path to a ridge from where you can look down at Samiti Pokhari (4200m) a beautiful and sacred lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks Mt. Kanchandzonga, Mt. Pandim, and Mt. Thenchinkhang. Return to camp for lunch at camp and night Lamune.

Early morning excursion to Goechala (pass), one walk along the moraine path by the side of Samiti lake to view the east face of Mt. Kanchendzonga bathed in the rays of the early sun. And we cross the sandy plain known as Zemathang, footprints of Bluesheeps and other animals are common sighting. After 2 hours, we arrive at the 1st viewpoint of Goechala and walk further 2 hours to the 2nd viewpoint to enjoy the close-up views of Mt. Kanchendzonga 8534m. Return to camp for late lunch and later walk to Thangshing campsite.

After breakfast, trek back the same trail till Kockchurung, from where we take another trail via Phedang to Tshoka. Hot lunch at Phedang and continue to walk to Tshoka.

After breakfast the same route of Yuksom. Stop halfway for a lunch and trek to Yuksom, for the final night

Drive towards Bagdogra Airport and return home with wonderful memories.

Cost Exclusion

  • Darjeeling is a town in India's West Bengal state, since this city offers high quality and delicious food from different countries and groups, we were hoping you could taste the meals you like. For that reason during your stay at Darjeeling you will have to arrange meals.
  • Suppose you want to take any packed food, snacks, drinks, energy drinks, mineral water, and carbonated soft drinks, any types of alcohol, cigarettes, chocolates, and nutria-bars during the trek. In that case, you have to buy it yourself.
  • Expenses incurred towards usage of Items of personal trekking equipment, laundry expenses, tips, Landlines, mobiles, phones, and the internet service exclude in the package.
  • Trekking is an adventurous activity that always takes place in remote areas. So, safety is the primary factor for us. Therefore, you have to have your travel insurance covering the cost of emergency rescue, medical treatment, medical tests, and hospitalization before you arrive for the trip to Kanchenjunga.
  • The package cost offered above does not include your international flight ticket and India's tourist visa, so that you have to pay for your international flight ticket and tourist visa yourself.
