Sikkim Uttarey Trek From Kathmandu

Sikkim Uttarey trek route, a new itinerary has been designed to allow visitors entry into the areas of the region that are still open to trekkers. On taking the trail from the western flanks of Dzongri, the path reaches out into the current permissible areas of the Singalila Ridge. Like; Your journey starts by visiting the old British Raj hill station of Darjeeling followed by a classic six day trek following the main spur running south from the vast Kanchenjunga massif.

For most parts of the trek, the trails are well within Sikkim with an exception on the seventh day when camp is set in Garakhet (very near the Nepal border). This will also be the day for exceptional views. As such, your program includes several hours of forays into the borderline providing the opportunity for great views of the Himalayan giants in Nepal such as Mount Everest, Mount Makalu and Kumbhakarna.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu airport (1350m) and transfers to Hotel.
Day 2: Sightseeing of UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu.
Day 3: Fly to Bhadrapur from Kathmandu and transfer to Border then drive to Darjeeling.
Day 4: Morning excursion to tiger hill (2573m) and rest of day sightseeing in Darjeeling
Day 5: Drive to Rimbik from Darjeeling and trek to Raman (2560m)
Day 6: Trek to Gorkey (3,600m) from Raman 7 hours
Day 7: Trek to Phalut (3,600m) from Gorkey 2 hrs.
Day 8: Trek to Sandakphu (3636m) from Phalut 8-9 hrs.
Day 9: Trek to Gairibas (2621m) from Sandakphu 5 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Tonglu (3070m) from Gairibas 4 hrs
Day 11: Trek to Mane Bhanjyang (2313m) from Tonglu 5 hrs.
Day 12: Drive to Darjeeling from Mane Bhanjyang and transfer to Hotel.
Day 13: Drive to Bhadrapur from Darjeeling and fly back Kathmandu
Day 14: Rest day, explore in Kathmandu.
Day 15: Transfer to airport for your onward journey.

  • The included itinerary above price is a guideline standard and camping style pattern which AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions advises you. This trekking itinerary can be modified according to your time and requirements.
  • The itinerary shall be changed after an understanding between both AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions and the client. Additional activities could be either added or reduced as per client's request before the confirmation of the trip.
  • Price above the shall be adjusted in our mutual understanding, that is, if the client intends to add some services we shall charge him/her for those additional services and if he/she intends to lessen some services, we shall wave the charges accordingly.
  • The itinerary is published in full board operation camping style services for the clear understanding of the client. Among many options such as hotel facilities in Kathmandu and Darjeeling, the client can make his/her own choice.
  • The cost is also affected by the number of employees‒ guides and mules.

Details Itinerary

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. Upon completing the visa formalities and collecting your luggages in the airport, kindly proceed to the exit of the arrival hall. Please look out for a placard of your name at the exit of arrival hall. Your trip leader will await you just outside the arrival hall and will escort you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Welcome drinks will be served and after you’ve refreshed, your trek leader will brief you about your trip.

Today our experienced guide takes you around Kathmandu valley for a sightseeing tour in a private van. The tour includes a visit to some of the UNESCO enlisted world’s heritage sites in Kathmandu. Starting with Swayambhunath Temple, you go on to visit Pashupatinath Temple, from where you proceed towards Boudhanath Stupa.

After breakfast fly from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur, then drive to Darjeeling. It takes 4 to 5 hours to reach Darjeeling then transfer to hotel and rest time is at your leisure.

After breakfast visit Tiger Hill for panoramic views of Everest and Mount Kanchenjunga. Also visit Tenzing Norg, the famous Himalayan Mountaineering Institute founded by Jawaharlal Nehru. Visit the world's best zoo, India's first zoo to receive a prestigious international award. And finally visit the tea garden to relax in the tea garden view.

It takes about 4-5 hours to drive from Darjeeling, which is 87 km away, on winding roads. From where our trekking starts and reaches Ramam. It goes through a dense forest through a steep downhill trail.

  • AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions provided your accommodation during the trekking will be tented camping. A tent will be provided for every 2 travellers with a foam mattress. There will also be a kitchen tent, dining tent, toilet tent, table, chairs and more for your comfort.
  • From AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions if in case of a single by default, will arrange a single tent for you at no additional cost.
  • As with most trekking trails, day lunch is served midway between the start and end of the day's trek while Freshly prepared meals (Breakfast, lunch and Dinner) with boiled water, tea, coffee are served at the camp where you have your overnight stay.

  • The Inner Line permit issued by the government office of Sikkim is required to enter area of Kanchenjunga, is at the AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions provide you a Inner Line (ILP) permit too.
  • AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions provides wages, clinical, equipment, and insurance for all elaborate trekking staffs.
  • We provide first aid medical kits for the group and the staff, taking care of your trekking and health safety.

Cost Exclusion

  • Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. Since this citys offers high quality and delicious food from different countries and groups, we were hoping you could taste the meals you like. For that reason, during your stay in Kathmandu, you will have to arrange lunch and dinner (except the farewell dinner).
  • Suppose you want to take any packed food, snacks, drinks, energy drinks, mineral water, and carbonated soft drinks, any types of alcohol, cigarettes, chocolates, and nutria-bars during the trek. In that case, you have to buy it yourself.
  • Expenses incurred towards usage of Items of personal trekking equipment, laundry expenses, tips, Landlines, mobiles, phones, and the internet service exclude in the package.
  • Trekking is an adventurous activity that always takes place in remote areas. So, safety is the primary factor for us. Therefore, you have to have your travel insurance covering the cost of emergency rescue, medical treatment, medical tests, and hospitalization before you arrive for the trip to Kanchenjunga.
  • The package cost offered above does not include your international flight ticket and India's tourist visa, so that you have to pay for your international flight ticket and tourist visa yourself.
  • Any extra expenses arising out of various/unforeseen situations like natural disasters, landslides, political disturbances, changes in government regulations exclude.
