We start our journey with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Along the Prithivi highway, you will be followed by Trishuli River on the right side offering you with its beautiful river view. After then, you will be accompanied by the Marshyangdi River as the trail up streams to its junction. You follow the Marshyangdi gently up through heavily terraced fields and small hill towns to the Seti River that takes you directly into Pokhara. Having pleasant weather, Pokhara is tourist’s paradise with full of natural as well as cultural heritage sites such as lakes, caves, temples of Buddhist and Hindus along with mountains. You can observe views to the north across the hills and Phewa Tal (lake) to the white peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. You can also take a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara instead of drive which will just take 30 minutes to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu. After arrival, get refreshed and stay overnight in hotel.
After breakfast, we drive from Pokhara to Bijayapur which will take about five hours. En route, we will enjoy the panoramic views. After arrival at Bijayapur, walk along an uphill trail passing through small colorful ethnic villages of Gurung’s and Ghale’s. The trail continuously leads upwards winding round terraced fields and village homes till you reach Kalikasthan, a vantage point for viewing the mountains at close range. The vast sweeping snowy expanse you see covers three distinct mountain clusters of the central Himalaya – the Manaslu, the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri, each with one dominant peak over 8,000 meters high. From here you will also see the Maadi khola gorge in the distance with the river slowly meandering down between the foothills. These trees, planted centuries ago, have broad leaves and branches that extend out – fusion, offering welcome shade to travelers. Around these shade trees people have built walls and Chautara, stone benches for porters to rest their loads upon as they pause during the hot, steep climbs. Many people built a Chautara’s in the name of deceased relatives. You can observe the massif views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Mt. Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Gangapurna, and Mt. Manaslu, Nadi Chuli, Himal Chuli and many more mountains with Begnas Lake view from the top while walking. Now the trails climb gently along a ridge top through the Brahmins and Chhetris villages towards Kalikasthan. In Kalikasthan, you can also have a walk up to Kalika Temple which was established by Raj Shah in the 15th century. Kalikasthan ridge is dotted with small, pretty mountain villages inhabited mostly by ethnic hill tribes.
On the following day, we pass through local villages of mixed ethnic groups and rice growing terraces up to Mardi Khola. Descending down to the river valley, we follow the easy trail along the riverbank passing through waterfalls. After walking about 5 to 6 hours through villages of mixed ethnic groups, rice terraces and jungles we reach Lama Chaur. Lama Chaur is a small village dominated by Gurung settlement. This place is surrounded by lush green hills that stretch for miles which stirs the imagination for good thoughts. We camp for our overnight Lama Chaur.
Today, we start our trek after having breakfast through dense rhododendron forest. The trail stretches at flat level along the river bank until we reach Khilan Gaon. After this, we follow path which is gently up at some distance and steeply up for some hours. En route we pass Parju village. The trail again climbs till Siklish village.
