Tamang Heritage Trail Trek starts from Syabrubesi (1460 m) and passes through Gatlang, Chilime, Thuman, Timure and Briddim tamang village. The people of this region are mostly Tibetans who came from Kerung in Tibet across the border and settled in Nepal. The cultural and traditions of these people are similar to the Tibetan across the border. Gatlang Is a traditional Tamang village Tamang settlement is set high on a hillside among terraced fields. One can also visit a Tamang monastery and the beautiful Parvati Kaunda Lake at Gatlang.
From Parvati Kaunda, one can see panoramic views of Lantang, Kerung, and the Ganesh Himal, Sanjen Himal ranges. Bathing in the hot, healing waters of the natural spring at Tatopani is an exhilarating experience. Nagathali (3165 m, view point) in Thuman is surrounded by beautiful views of langtang valley-trekking Langtang Kerung, Ganesh Himal and Sanjen Himal ranges. The ancient monasteries and houses adorned with rich wood engravings at Thuman village are an unforgettable experience.
A Fort At Rasuwagadi In Timure is a historical reminder of the Nepal-Tibet relations that has existed for many centuries. A suspension bridge here links Nepal and Tibet. Briddim village offers warm Tamang hospitality at the home – stays run by. Community members, In addition, visitors can also visit local monasteries of Dukchu Gomba (monastery) chosen as sacred site by the great Tibetan Lama – Guru Rinpoche and Chukla Khnaga Gomba. The tamang heritage trail trek ends at Syabrubensi to Kathmandu.


Outline Itinerary (Tamang Heritage Trail Trek)
Day 01 : Arrival at Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport, transfer to hotel by our representative.
Day 02 : Drive 7-8 hrs from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m). Overnight at Lodge.
Day 03 : Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2,200m), 5 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.
Day 04 : Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m), 6-7 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.
Day 05 : Tatopani to Thuman (2,400m), via Brimdang and Nagthali 6 hrs.
Day 06 :Thuman to Briddim (2,345m), 6 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.
Day 07 : Briddim to Lama Hotel (2470m), 6 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.
Day 08 : Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3,430m), 6-7 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.
Day 09 : Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m), 4 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.
Day 10 : Trek back to Lama Hotel (2,380m), 4-5 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.
Day 11 : Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi, 5 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.
Day 12 : Drive back to Kathmandu 6 hrs. Overnight at hotel.
Day 13 : Transfer to airport, departure to your own destination.

Day 1
Day 01 : Arrival at Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport, transfer to hotel by our representative.

After arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by the representative of AlpineTrav Treks & Expedition. The AlpineTrav representative will arrange your transfer & brief about pre-trip discussion meeting on the way to your hotel.

Day 3
Day 02 : Drive 7-8 hrs from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m). Overnight at Lodge.

Drive from Kathmandu to SyabruBensi which takes about 9 hours by bus. You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to SyabruBesi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trisuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As you pass through Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep land. At the same time, you notice that the road is still under construction.

Day 4
Day 03 : Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2,200m), 5 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.

You can observe the different traditional villages. The cultural show at Goljung and Gatlang makes your trekking an unforgettable one. Gatlang set high on a hillside among terraced fields is a Tamang settlement. One can visit a Tamang monastery and beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang

Day 5
Day 04 : Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m), 6-7 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.

On the way you enjoy sightseeing of Langtang range and Ganesh Himal. Experience of the Tamang culture at Tatopani which naturally signifies ‘hot water’, you can take hot bath in natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. Another cultural village Thuman is popular for its Shamanic performances and beautiful view of Langtang. The panoramic view of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, Sanjen ranges can be distinctly experienced from Nagthali. Nagthali used to be a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests.

Day 6
Day 05 : Tatopani to Thuman (2,400m), via Brimdang and Nagthali 6 hrs.

You will pass through the dense alpine forest, we reach the small Tamang settlement of Brimdang. From here, it’s a few hours walk uphill until Nagthali hill. You will enjoy the mesmerizing views of Langtang, Sanjen, Kerung and Ganesh Himal. You have to trek downhill to the Tamang village of Thuman.

Day 7
Day 06 : Thuman to Briddim (2,345m), 6 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.

You will trek to Briddim village by passing through Lingling. Briddim is Tiben Buddhist inhabitants village, located just down to Langtang himal. We can also visit Dukchu Gomba monastery. Most of the houses in Briddim are built by stones and are inhabited by Tibetan origin people.

Day 8
Day 07 : Briddim to Lama Hotel (2470m), 6 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.

Trekking from Briddim to Lama Hotel trail descends to Ghopche Khola is small stream. You will ascend to Lama Hotel via Rimche which is located on the banks of Langtang River.

Day 9
Day 08 : Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3,430m), 6-7 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.

After breakfast, our trek will continue alongside dense forests. Today, you will enjoy with marvelous views of Langtang Lirung, pass by water mills, prayer wheels and chortens adorned with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them.

Day 10
Day 09 : Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m), 4 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.

Today, you will pass the Mani wall. It is believed that the prayers on the mani wall spreads around by blowing winds. You will reach Kyanjin Gompa after crossing several wooden bridges. You can visit around Kanjin Gompa.

Day 11
Day 10 : Trek back to Lama Hotel (2,380m), 4-5 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.

From Kyagjin, today we will return to Lama Hotel trekking along the same path following the Langtang River to Langtang village and then walk up to Ghora Tabela. After having our lunch, we trek and then vertically move down to Lama Hotel.

Day 12
Day 11 : Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi, 5 hrs. Overnight at Lodge.

Today is your last day of the trek. You will trek down to Syabrubensi. We will celebrate & enjoy the last day party here.

Day 13
Day 12 : Drive back to Kathmandu 6 hrs. Overnight at hotel.

Scenic drive back to Kathmandu by Jeep/Bus. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 14
Day 13 : Transfer to airport, departure to your own destination.

Our airport representative will shift you to the airport from the hotel for your way back to home country.

Warm jacket (down jacket, if possible)
