Nepal’s second largest lake, Phewa Lake, adds to the captivating beauty of Pokhara. The changing light of the sun on Phewa Lake offers a beautiful serenity to nature lovers. On the eastern side of the lake, visitors can find a cluster of restaurants and pubs. Along with these attractions, boating, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, bird watching, fishing and hunting are some of the activities that you can partake in at Phewa Lake. In the middle of the lake is the Varahi Temple, where Hindu worshippers offer animal and bird sacrifices to Goddess Varahi every Saturday.

Likewise; David’s Falls, is a charming small waterfall located about 2 km southwest of Pokhara Airport on the Siddhartha Highway. Also very close to David’s Falls is the Gupteshwar Cave, which is a mystically sacred cave that holds special value for Hindus because the cosmic symbol of Lord Shiva was discovered here and is perfectly preserved in its condition. Locally, it is also known as Gupteshwar Mahadev.

Next; Bindivasini Temple, is the oldest religious pilgrimage site in Pokhara, built in the 16th century. The main shrine of the temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga where Hindu worshippers gather to offer sacrifices, especially on Saturdays. Like; Mahendra Gufa and Chamere Gufa are two other major, attractive natural sites that can be reached after a two-hour walk north of Pokhara. Mahendra Gufa is known as the ‘Bat House’ and Chamere Gufa (bat cave) is named because of the large number of bats that live within its walls.

The Seti Gandaki Ghat, a natural wonder that flows underground, disappears from view at many places as it passes through the city. At various points, the river is barely two meters wide and cuts through a deep, narrow valley. A good place to see the river below is the Mahendra Pul, a small bridge in the city center.

The World Peace Pagoda, a massive Buddhist stupa, is an impressive site located on a hilltop on the southern shore of Pokhara’s Fewa Lake. In addition to being an impressive sight in itself, the Buddhist pilgrimage site is an excellent vantage point that offers spectacular views of the Annapurna mountain range and Pokhara city.

Ends Of Day; Old Bazaar, located 4 km from Fewa Lake, is a traditional market and a colorful gathering place for ethnically diverse groups of traders. The temples and monuments bear a close resemblance to the Newari architecture of the Kathmandu Valley and retain much of its original charm. Old Bazaar is also home to one of Pokhara’s most important pilgrimage sites, the Bindhyavasini Temple.
