The Himalayan realms of Sikkim and Darjeeling in the perfect ambiance of a magical sensation

The Sikkim and Darjeeling Overland Tour captures the best legacy of the former British Empire in India. The deeper we go in Sikkim and Darjeeling, the more we connect with nature. Sikkim, the ancient kingdom of the enchanting Himalayas, lies in the Eastern Himalayas, sprawling beneath Kanchenjunga (8,534 m), the world’s third-highest mountain. It is squeezed between the hill states of Bhutan and Nepal which offers huge potential in tourism which is largely untapped. With a multicultural touch, this yet unexplored small state of India is filled with snow-capped mountains, lush tropical and temperate forests, flowing rivers and rich flora and fauna. Another world-renowned research center for Tibetan Buddhism, the Tibetan Science Research Institute exhibits a rare collection of antiquities such as sculptures, ancient manuscripts, thangkas, etc. This institute was founded by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1957. Similarly, Rumtek Monastery, about 24 km from Gangtok, is a beautiful landscape. The first monastery was built in 1717 by Chogyal Gurmed Namgyal, but was destroyed by earthquakes and old age. And now the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa has built a second monastery in 1960.

Darjeeling, likewise another hot spot on this Darjeeling trip is internationally known for its tea industry. Located in North East India, just south of Sikkim, Darjeeling offers the perfect hill resort atmosphere with its mild climate. With the magical aura of the Kanchenjunga hills, Darjeeling intoxicates nature enthusiasts with its serene atmosphere.

Darjeeling journey begins with short visit to Tiger Hill early in the morning to witness the sunrise over Mt Kangchenjunga. On the way back to the hotel visit Yiga-Choling (Ghoom). Then, drive around Darjeeling for sightseeing. On this occasion, you take part in a visit to the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park inhabited by rare representatives of the Himalayan fauna: Siberian tiger, Himalayan black bear, red panda, snow leopard and many other animal and bird species. And next visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, a Tibetan refugee self-help center, a major center for the production of Tibetan carpets, woodwork and leather goods, and Darjeeling’s famous tea plantations and tea factories. All these Sikkim and Darjeeling Highlights itinerary will leave the visitors in a state of pure bliss.
