  • Wildlife viewing, flora and fauna, butterflies, many types
  • Nepal’s best ridge-top trekking with old camp sites
  • The mountain view is near unforgettable

Lamjung Himal is a rare trekking area in the Annapurna region. On this nine-day trek, you’ll see an amazing cross-section of Nepal and incredible views of the Himalayas.

Our camping trek starts from Bensisahar in Annapurna. It is the traditional starting point of the famous Annapurna Circuit. Our trail does not follow the Marsyangdi Valley, Annapurna’s most popular trek. Our trail heads west through traditional Gurung villages and farms. Then you enter the rhododendron and bamboo forest area. In the alpine zone above the tree line. We have included this trek in our selection of best Annapurna treks in Nepal. Lamjung Trek

You start walking from the top of Ghapokhara village. In Nepal it is called ‘Danda’. We follow this with a three-day stay in the grazing grounds known as “Kharkas” en route to Valley Camp at an altitude of 3,717 meters. From here we enjoy a hike up to Rambrong West Summit (4,384m). The view of Himal Himal. Mount Lamjung (6,983 m), Ganesh Himal (7,422 m) and Machhapuchhre (6,997 m) can be seen from Everest. Manaslu (8,163 m) and mountains can be seen to the west. Chuli in the east.

From Valley Camp the trail descends to another ridge. After three days of walking, we reach Tangting village. On this hill we camp at Kharkas from where there are excellent mountain views. We drive from Tangting to Pokhara. We stayed here for one nights to enjoy the city by the lake before returning to Kathmandu.

There are no lodges in Lamjung Himal region so we organize this trek as a camping style trek. The trails in Nepal with lodges are getting busier. Choosing a camping trek means you access a remote region less frequented by trekkers.

You will be waited for outside the arrivals hall and taken to your booking hotel. Please see the placard with your name on it when exiting the arrival hall. And upon arrival at the hotel will be served welcome drinks and after you freshen up, will inform you about your trip.

Today we explore Kathmandu on an organized sightseeing tour. This will include a visit to the world's largest Buddhist pilgrimage site, Boudha Nath Stupa. We also visit Pashupatinath, home to the country's most famous Hindu temple, situated on the banks of the sacred Bagmati River. Here we will see Hindu holy men (sadhus) and pilgrims taking a ritual bath, and occasionally, pyres on the ghats. The cremation ground here is also used for the royal family and commoners living nearby. Your afternoon will be free to relax in the hotel garden or visit Thamel for some exciting shopping. You will be given your trek departure orientation in the afternoon by our senior guide.

In the morning we will go to Beshishahr from Kathmandu in a private vehicle. It is a beautiful drive with occasional glimpses of mountain peaks. At Dumre, turn off Pokhara Highway and head north. We follow Masryangdi river to Beshishahr. It will be very hot and humid during the months of April, May and October. At lower altitudes, temperatures often exceed 30 degrees Celsius. It is important to bring plenty of water, a sun hat and sunscreen.

You follow the road uphill from Besishahr through farmlands and rice terraces. We pass the beautiful village of Gurung Gumba and Chami Danda (1,000m) where there is a small school. We take a jeep track for a short distance through many traditional houses. You can see the jeep track making its way around the ridge. At the right hand bend we take the road straight into the forest. It is very steep and slippery in places. We cross the jeep track again as we climb to Kolo. In Baglungpani we will camp at the football field.

Via the village road we take the rarely used jeep track for panoramic views of Lamjung Himal (6,983m) and Manaslu (8,163m). Turning off the track we take the stone path up the ridge. We pass through the quiet village of Kapurgaon with a small Gurung monastery. Another village in Ghalegaon is bigger and it is possible that you will have lunch here. While lunch is being prepared you can explore the village and there is a sight and a temple to see. We also have to check with the ACAP office to show the permits. A lot of work has been done to improve the road and there are a lot of rubbish bins. The path goes uphill after Samba Chilling Monastery. Finally we reach Ghapokhara village at 2,158 meters where we camp for the night.

As we leave the village, a sign guides us to begin our uphill trek. We follow the wild rock with the occasional bark. After about 5 km we reach a shepherd's hut where we stop for lunch. Leaving our lunch spot, we headed up the stone path. Then we will reach some Khark where we will spend the night.

This morning we leave our clearing and head up the rocky trail again. We reach a place called Palma Khark (3,100 m) with great views. We continue on a beautiful trail through rhododendrons. After a short steeper section we reach Thokyo at 3,400m. After we head to the right of the ridge to find a good water supply for camp.

Leaving the camp we follow a pleasant undulating trail. This brings us to a beautiful valley where we will spend two nights. Tomorrow is our base camp for the hike to the Rambrong West Summit (4,384m).

We leave the camp in the valley and follow the faint path towards the shepherd's hut. We cross several small streams. Following the road to Dudhpokhri, we cross the beautiful Khark hill, which is filled with 4,100 meters of water. Straight ahead is a prominent rocky peak. It has a left lane before turning right. Follow it until you reach the first colon then follow the path in front of the next colon. This is your chance to reach the 4,000m summit. A further walk along the ridge is possible but would only be suitable for fit and strong walkers. The trail is bumpy as you lose some elevation and need to regain it on steep slopes.

We return a few steps from our valley camp, then turn right and begin the hike up to the clearing. From here we go around the mountain. We increase the height until we reach the saddle. We then descend for a lunch stop at 3,800m in a beautiful valley with water and flat land. After lunch we decided to head south. It is a mixture of good paths through streams and clearings. After descending from the cliff we reach a deep forest. We descend from the steep path to Khark. Then we go higher and higher and reach the fun camp. We will explore the panoramic views of Machhapuchhare Himal (6,997 meters) and Annapurna Himal.

The first 7km of the day follows the ridge up and down enjoying the mountain views. After the hut and pond we turn right and descend a steep path through the forest. It is slippery and unclear in places. The trail levels out and we arrive at a large ridge where we camp for the night.

From the camp we continue downhill along the ridge where we reach a sacred place called Nain Fiji. Leaving here we descend a long stone staircase. Finally we see the welcome village of Tangting. The campsite is at the school. There is occasional Wi-Fi and a chance for well-earned rest.

Today go to Pokhara by private vehicle.

In the morning we can do some last hour shopping. Then we headed towards Kathmandu. We grab the left lane seats of the tourist bus for the best views of the rivers on the highway because this is our last time we will see them. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we transfer to the hotel; And we spend the day at our leisure.

Thanks for joining us on this trek and it's been a pleasure getting to know you during this time. We hope this venture has enriched your experience with happy memories. Stay tuned and this is the last day of our trip. So we will transfer your departure flight homebound or to the airport for another destination. We look forward to welcoming you on your next adventure in Nepal. Safe travels!! We hope to see you again. Namaste!
