- Spectacular views of some huge snow-covered peaks.
- Rugged and exposed terrain.
- Visit the lakeside city of Pokhara with its majestic views of Machapuchare.
- Bath in the hot springs at Tatopani.
Be one of the first to literally go where few people have been before!
This trekking route is less than a year old and was only explored by the Annapurna Rural municipality (ARM) in 2019. This is a new and exciting destination in the Annapurna Ranges that is a full-on escape to a seldom visited region. Annapurna North Base Camp sits at an altitude of 4190 meters.
The region has not been exposed to many trekkers, so you will not find too many tea houses and lodges, but will alternatively sleep in tents in the region of Mt. Annapurna 1 (8091m), the world’s tenth highest mountain and most dangerous for climbers.
The Annapurna North Base Camp trek begins in Lete and takes around seven days return. There are some difficult parts of the trek, especially in poor weather. One of these places is where you will cross the Miristi Khola (river). If the water level is too high and you are unable to cross the bridge, then you have to find an alternative way across the river. The second difficult part of the trail is when you cross a steep pass.
This is an area well known for Yarshagumba, a rare and unique herb that grows in the meadows above 3500 meters. It is a remedy for tiredness, chronic cough and asthma, impotence, debility, anemia, to build the bone marrow. It is said to be the most valuable commodity in the region at around $100,000 per kilo.
On the trail, you will be mesmerized by the impressive views of Nilgiri Himal (7061m), Tilicho Peak (7134m), Mt Dhaulagiri (8167m) and Annapurna 1 (8091m). Where interspersed among the mountains are rich blue alpine lakes.

Meals at North Base Camp during the trek
All meals are included during the trekking period. We will provide three meals a day (B,L,D) during the trek. Since this is a full camping trek, our kitchen crew will serve freshly prepared meals during the trek. We consider hearty and delicious meals as a key component to the overall success of our trip.
Accommodations at North Base Camp during the trek
In Kathmandu and Pokhara, we manage a three-star hotel offering a bed and breakfast plan on a twin-sharing basis. We can also manage a single room upon your request, but at an extra cost. Likewise, if you prefer more luxurious accommodations, it is also possible, but it costs more. Yet, due to the remote location and the lack of facilities at teahouses or lodges along the trek, trekkers must stay in a tented camp throughout the expedition.
Trekking: Camping – Your accommodation during the trekking period will be fully tented camping. A tent will be provided for every 2 travellers with a foam mattress. In the case of a single, we will arrange a single tent for you by default at no additional cost. There will also be a kitchen tent, dining tent, toilet tent, table, chairs, and more for your comfort. Our trekking team will carry all of the tent equipment for your worry-free and easy journey.
Typical day on trek – Daily wake up calls will be between 6.00 am to 7.00 am while on the trek. The wake-up time and breakfast time will be decided a night before during the briefing time. The time table for each day will entirely depend on your walking duration for that particular day.
After a hearty breakfast, you set off on the day’s walk. Before breakfast, you are required to pack your duffel bag as it will be loaded by the porter while you are having your breakfast. After few hrs, of walk, you stop for lunch mid-day. The afternoon’s walk is generally shorter and you usually arrive at your destination in time for afternoon tea. The rest of the afternoon can be spent exploring the village, to wash your clothes or simply relaxing with a good book. On some days, you will arrive at your destination by lunchtime and the entire afternoon will be free. After dinner, you will heading off to bed for a well-earned sleep.
Transportation
We use a private car for sightseeing and for the airport to hotel pick and drop off. We use Public transportation or Tourist buses during the trek.
Physical fitness
This can be a challenging trek where you often have to walk 6-7 hours a day. You need past experience of hiking or trekking but if you have done any kind of trekking activities then it is always a plus! We have met people from all walks of life, shapes, and sizes who have completed the trek. The only difficult part is when altitude sickness strikes and the effect that it can have on your body. Before leaving for Nepal it is good if you can prepare yourself physically by increasing your stamina and oxygen intake.
