Tengboche Monastery Trek or as we like to call it ‘’ Mountains and Monasteries’’ is one of Nepal’s finest short trekking holiday in the sublime region of Khumbu, Nepal. A perfect trek for those who want to experience Everest in shorter days and yet are unprepared to tackle the high altitude. Experience the panoramic views of world’s tallest mountains, Sherpa villages, tall suspension bridges, Tengboche monastery and many more in our 10 days Tengboche monastery trek.

Tengboche monastery trek gets into gear with a fantastic mountain flight to Lukla Airport. The flight time is about 35 mins and you can enjoy the splendid views of mountains from your window. Make sure you sit on the left side of aircraft for your first great views of the Everest region. Upon your arrival at Lukla, you will be met by the rest of the crew. Our porters will load your bags and gear up for the trek. Following the Dudh Khosi river, we trek to Namche Bazaar via Phakding and spend two nights here for acclimatization by hiking up to Everest view hotel and surrounding villages. We continue our trek to Tengboche, from where you can get the best view of Everest and surrounding mountains. Visit Tengboche monastery and Phortse village, the largest monastery in the Everest region and retrace our steps back to Lukla the following day. The maximum elevation of our Tengboche Monastery trek is 3,860m/12,665ft at Tengboche, making this trek a perfect moderate trek in shorter duration. Therefore, Tengboche Monastery, trek generally go above 4000 meters at maximum and on a daily basis, you can expect to be walking for about 5 – 7 hours. So; Expect ups and downs as well for there will be hills to climb as well.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu Airport [1,350m/4,430ft] and transfer to hotel.
Day 2: Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and trek to Phakding [2,600m/8,531ft], 3-4 hours
Day 3: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazar [3,440m/11,286ft], 5-6 hours
Day 4: Rest day acclimatization and visit to Everest view hotel and back to Namche Bazaar, 4-5 hours
Day 5: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche monastery [3,860m/12,665ft], 5-6 hours
Day 6: Trek from Tengboche monastery to Phortse (3840m/12,598ft), 4-5 hours
Day 7: Trek from Phortse to Namche Bazar [3,440m/11,286ft] via Khumjung, 5-6 hours
Day 8: Trek from Namche bazaar to Lukla [2,800m/9187ft], 6-7 hours
Day 9: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu [1,350m/4,430ft]
Day 10: Airport transfer to your destination.

  • Personal clothing and trekking gear.
  • Travel insurance has to cover emergency high-altitude rescue and evacuation along with medical coverage.

  • Additional costs due to delays caused by circumstances outside company control like landslides, weather conditions, itinerary modifications due to safety concerns, illness, change of government policies, strikes, etc.
