Highlights of Nepal Tour – 8 Days, Overview

Nepal tour highlights are a fun way to explore Nepal’s natural and cultural magnificence. This package includes cultural visits and scenic views in four different cities in just a 9-day itinerary. Kathmandu come alive with various local festivals and Jatra (journeys) of the Newari community of Nepal. Amazing examples of architecture dating back to the medieval period can be found in Kathmandu Valley cities including Kathmandu and Bhaktapur.

We will get to know the rustic life of the hill village of Nagarkot while we can get the exotic sunrise view of the Himalayas from the nearest hill station to Kathmandu in Nagarkot. Our next destination will be Bandipur between Kathmandu and Pokhara. At Bandipur, perched on a hilltop, one can get a good sense of medieval Newari life where people still follow traditional customs and beliefs. The city of Bandipur is also famous along with Devi Temple. Our next destination will be the clean and green city of Pokhara which is a favorite choice of travelers and also their dream vacation destination. Recently, Pokhara has also emerged as a paradise for extreme sports lovers.

Day 01 :

Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. After completing visa formalities and collecting your luggage at the airport, please exit the arrival hall. Your tour leader will be waiting for you just outside the arrival hall and will take you to hotel in Kathmandu. Please look for a placard with your name on it at the exit of the arrival hall. Then depending on the time, you will have time to walk around the hotel and familiarize yourself near hotel.

Day 02 :

Full-day Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Today is a full-day Kathmandu tour; in which you will explore various UNESCO sites in Kathmandu. There are a total of 10 UNESCO sites in Nepal and you will find seven UNESCO sites in the Kathmandu Valley alone within a distance of 20 km. Then we will start our tour with a visit to Pashupatinath, the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal. We will witness the Hindu cremation ceremony at Aryaghat, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. And we will visit Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. We can see the rich Tibetan culture at Boudhanath. Similarly, we will end the day’s tour by visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square, the old royal residence of Nepal.

Day 03 :

Visit to Bhaktapur and drive to Nagarkot

We will have our breakfast and depart for the medieval Newar city of Bhaktapur where we can observe life in its primitive forms. The Bhaktapur Durbar Square is listed as a UNESCO Heritage Site. We will explore the courtyards of the ancient royal residence and we will reach Nagarkot, the nearest hill station from Bhaktapur. We will climb to the top of the View Tower. If the weather is clear, we can see panoramic views of the mountains from Annapurna in the west to Everest in the east. Nagarkot also offers a spectacular view of the Kathmandu Valley.

Day 04 :

Drive from Nagarkot to Bandipur

We will wake up early in the morning and once again visit the View Tower as Nagarkot is popular for watching the sunrise. The villages of Nagarkot are mostly inhabited by Tamang people and we can witness the rural life in Nagarkot. The only sound that can be heard is the sound of leaves falling in the forest when the wind blows gently. Then we will have breakfast and drive from Nagarkot to Bandipur via Prithvi Highway for 4 to 5 hours. Check in to the hotel and then we will visit the old Bandipur Bazaar in the evening.

Day 05 :

Visit to Bandipur and drive to Pokhara

We will wake up early in the morning and visit the place, where Bandipur is located. The attractions within Bandipur are Tindhara, Siddha Cave, Bandipur Bazaar, Khadgadevi Temple, Bindevasini Temple and Mahalakshmi Temple. After that we will have breakfast and we will head towards Pokhara where it will take about 2 to 3 hours drive. Pokhara is a beautiful city offering close views of the Annapurna mountain range and other tourist attractions. We will visit Fewa Lake in the evening. Boating on Fewa Lake is a fun activity. We will stay at Mount View Hotel located in the center of Fewa Lake.

Day 06 :

In Pokhara, full day sightseeing

We will take a 30-minute morning drive to reach the base of Sarangkot Hill. After a steep climb, Sarangkot Hill is popular for its spectacular sunrise views over Annapurna from Pokhara. From Sarangkot, we can also enjoy panoramic views of the Pokhara Valley, its lakes and the surrounding mountains including Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and Manaslu. We will then return to the hotel for breakfast and after breakfast, we will embark on a full-day tour of Pokhara. We will start the journey with a visit to Davis Falls. Locally known as Patle Chhago (meaning waterfall leading to the abyss), this is the point where the water of the Pardi River falls into a tunnel and disappears underground. Next, we will visit the Vishwa Shanti Stupa, locally known as Shanti Stupa. It is located at an altitude of 1100 meters atop Ananda Hill. Apart from being located in a serene environment, this place is also famous for its views of the Annapurna Range and Fewa Lake. We will end the day's tour with a visit to the International Mountain Museum.

Day 07 :

Fly back to Kathmandu from Pokhara

After breakfast, depart for the airport to catch a flight to Kathmandu. Today is a free day for any shopping in Kathmandu.

International departure
