The Royal Trek is one of the shortest treks that follow a shrub like path along the foothills of Annapurna, north of the Pokhara valley in Nepal. The Royal Trek is so-named because Prince Charles and his 90 person entourage had explored this route in the early eighties. This trek provides the opportunities for meaningful cultural experiences with the diverse mix of people and cultures that inhabit this region.

The journey of Royal trek begins in the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara and passes through beautiful Gurung hamlets. During the trek, you are able to enjoy stunning views of the eloquently built hillside rice terraces, the magnificent Annapurna range, Machapuchhre (Fishtail) and the Langtang Mountain views. The trip finally ends at the scenic Begnas Lake which is about 30 km west of Pokhara City.

The Royal trekking trip is basically recommended for beginners who are restricted by time to trek longer. This Royal trek presents a true picture of uniqueness and allowing you the chance to capture traditional lifestyles of the tribes whose ancient religious practices and traditions have remained unchanged for thousands of years. Compared to other trekking areas in Annapurna region, Royal trekking route is less crowded, so you can get more close to nature, culture and lifestyle.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Kathmandu - and transfer to hotel

We recommend that you schedule your arrival in Kathmandu in the morning or during the day. This will give you enough time to relax and recover from jet lag before starting your adventure. Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in, meet your trek guides. You will be briefed about your upcoming adventure. If you have any doubts, check your equipment and visited to Thamel, the main tourist hub. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

Day 02 :

Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

After breakfast early morning, you will take a tourist bus to Pokhara. If you are lucky and get the right side of the bus, you can take pleasure in amazing views of green mountains and villages. Upon reaching the enchanting city of Pokhara which offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare, five peaks of Annapurna and others, you'll check in to the hotel. Pokhara has numerous lakes, known as ‘Tal’ in Nepali which offer fishing, boating and swimming. Strolling around the Lakeside city and exploring it in the evening is enjoyable. Overnight in a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 03 :

Trek from Pokhara to Kalikasthan

Today, after breakfast you will drive to Bijayapur Khola (river) to begin your trek. Initially you will start your walk for about an hour through flat paddy fields and cross the river. After crossing the river the trail starts to ascend to Kalikasthan. Lunch will be served midway through the climb. After arriving at Kalikasthan, you'll rest for some time then explore the surrounding areas. Where you spend overnight at a local guesthouse.

Day 04 :

Trek from Kalikasthan to Syaklung

After breakfast, you will start walking through the villages. You walk along the ridge of the mountain which offers good views of Annapurna and Lamjung Himal. Today, you can explore many villages, its locals and the rhododendron forests. Overnight at Syaklung in local guesthouse.

Day 05 :

Trek from Syaklung to Chisapani

Walking through the Gurung village gives an opportunity to observe the local lifestyle. Then you will move ahead playing a game of hide and seek with the rhododendron and Sal trees. Half way through the walk there is a 400m descent, then a 600m ascent for you to arrive at Chisapani. This is the best view point to see the Himalayan Panorama. You will see Dhaulagiri to the west of Annapurna. Overnight in guesthouse.

Day 06 :

Drive from Chisapani to Pokhara

Today you will walk half way down the hill to Rupatal and climb about 200 meters to arrive at Sundare Danda. Walk 15 minutes down to Begnas Tal, then enjoy an hour of boating. Transfer to Pokhara, check in at a hotel and take rest or explore the Lake side. Overnight at hotel.

Day 07 :

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu

Early morning, you will take a tourist bus to get back to Kathmandu. Watching scenic countryside en route makes your long bus journey interesting. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, your guide will transfer you to your hotel. Rest of the day can be spent at leisure or perhaps catching up with some last minute shopping or exploring any sights you missed during your first day in Kathmandu. Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 08 :

Final departure, or join optional activities

Your trip comes to an end today! There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize the photos. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. A representative from AlpineTrav Treks will take you to the airport approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight. On your way home you’ll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

AlpineTrav Treks provides pick-up and drop services from international and domestic airports on your arrival and departure.
AlpineTrav Treks representatives will be waiting for you at domestic and international airports on your arrival with a placard with your name so that you can easily find our person.
As per the trekking package schedule, AlpineTrav Treks will arrange for 2 nights accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu and 2 nights accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Pokhara.
AlpineTrav Treks will provide an experienced and government authorized (license holder) high altitude trekking guide during the trekking period.
Surface transportation will only be included during the trekking and major city for members as per the itinerary.
Apart from camping trekking, AlpineTrav Treks will provide you with a beautiful tea house/lodge to stay and eat during the trekking.
On most trekking trails, lunch is served between the start and end of the trekking day while dinner and breakfast are served at the tea house where you have spend the night. AlpineTrav Treks provides clean and fresh breakfast, lunch and dinner with tea/coffee on the menu at the tea house/lodge throughout the trek.
AlpineTrav Treks will provide clean and warm down jackets and sleeping bags during the trek, taking care of your comfort and health so that you do not have to worry about the cold and do not weigh too much on international flights.
AlpineTrav Treks allows you to carry up to 15 kg of personal trekking equipment per person during the flight and will carry it throughout the trek, either by a porter or by a yak or mule. (Carry it).
Since The Royal Trek is in the Annapurna region, AlpineTrav Treks will provide you with a permit for the Annapurna Conservation Area. This is mandatory.
To enter the Annapurna Conservation Area, a Trekkers Information Management Systems permit is required so AlpineTrav Treks will also provide you with a TIMS permit.
AlpineTrav Treks will provide you with weather reports throughout the trek, as far as possible.
AlpineTrav Treks provides all wages, clinical, equipment and insurance for all detailed trekking personnel.
AlpineTrav Treks provides first aid medical kits for groups and personnel, taking care of your trekking and health safety.
AlpineTrav Treks will have an oxygen meter to check your pulse and oxygen saturation and heart rate or Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS) symptoms (very useful) this will ensure your health during the trek.
AlpineTrav Treks will provide purified drinking water (Ef-Chlor - water purification tablets) to ensure the health of the customers.
Himalayan trekking trails in Nepal are often remote and are far from information, communication and transportation, so information communication is a crucial factor for safety and successful travel. Therefore, in case of emergency needs, AlpineTrav Treks provides satellite phones with your trekking guide.
During your trekking, AlpineTrav Treks provides you with clean, nutritious and fresh food at the tea house.
AlpineTrav Treks always cares and prioritizes the safety of the trekking personnel involved. For this reason, we always take out medical insurance, helicopter evacuation insurance, and treatment insurance for all personnel involved with a reputable insurance company.
AlpineTrav Treks always provides maps of the relevant trekking trails for your convenience.
The price agreed between AlpineTrav Treks and the client will include our official service fee, government fees, and all taxes and VAT. Apart from the amount agreed upon, there are no hidden costs charged by us.
We would like to offer you to have dinner with us before your departure from Kathmandu. This will be an opportunity for you to see and learn about Nepali culture and traditions.
AlpineTrav Treks will provide you with a farewell dinner at a typical Nepali restaurant with a cultural program in Kathmandu before your departure.

COST EXCLUDES

Kathmandu is Nepal's capital, and Pokhara tourist city since this place offers high quality and delicious food from different countries and groups, we were hoping you could taste the food you like. For that reason, during your stay in Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will have to arrange lunch and dinner (except farewell dinner) yourself.
Suppose you want to take any packed food, snacks, aerated drinks, energy drinks, mineral water, and carbonated soft drinks, any types of alcohol, cigarettes, chocolates, and nutria-bars during the trek. In that case, you have to buy it yourself as a customer often requires these items during the trekking. No, and there is no guessing how much it will take by the client and its cost.
Expenses incurred towards usage of Items of personal nature trekking equipment, laundry expenses, tips, Landlines, mobiles, walkie-talkies, satellite phones, and the internet service exclude in the package. You have to pay for it yourself when you use it.
Trekking is, in itself, an adventurous activity that always takes place in remote areas. So, safety is the primary factor for us. Therefore, you have to have your travel insurance covering the cost of emergency rescue, medical treatment, medical tests, and hospitalization before you arrive for the trip to Nepal.
The package cost offered above does not include your international flight ticket and Nepal's tourist visa, so that you have to pay for your international flight ticket and tourist visa yourself.
Any extra expenses arising out of various/unforeseen situations like natural disasters, landslides, political disturbances, strikes, changes in government regulations costs exclude in the package cost.
Additional costs for extra workers then what we have included in the package.
The short sentence, "The services we provide in the above package cost inclusive," will cost extra if you want additional services.
Employees involved in your trekking are hoping for tips, gifts, or something at the end of the trip, which is an opportunity to say how happy you are with our staff and what kind of service you have rendered.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

For your information, international flights and Nepal’s “entry visa fee” are not included. Rooms are usually shared by two people unless you request a private room. So if you want to upgrade to better hotels in the cities, please contact us for your customized services.

NEPAL VISA INFORMATION

Visa on Arrival: Most nationalities can obtain a visa upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu.
Visa Fees: A 15-day multiple-entry visa costs USD 30, a 30-day visa costs USD 50, and a 90-day visa costs USD 125.
Application Process: Visitors should fill out a visa application form, which is available online or at the airport, and provide a passport-sized photo and payment in cash.
Requirements: A valid passport with at least six months remaining validity and a blank page for the visa stamp is required. Ensure you carry sufficient USD cash for the visa fee as not all payment methods are accepted.

MEALS

During your Annapurna region Trek, you can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the tea-houses or from a lodge menu where you spend the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available while in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

ACCOMMODATION

You will be accommodated in hotel Vajra in Kathmandu, Hotel Mount view in Pokhara and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis.Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional.

TEAM COMPOSITION

For the Annapurna region Trek, there will be one guide, assistant guide (4 trekkers: 1 assistant guide) and porters for luggage carrying. This arrangement ensures that even if someone in the group gets sick or is unable to carry on, the trip can still go ahead as planned for the rest of the group. We can run the trek for groups of any size, but usually a maximum of twelve people is ideal as we’ve found this to be the optimum size for a successful trip for teahouse/ camping trekking.
