Langtang Ganja La Pass Trek

Ganja-La Pass trekking is considered challenging due to its longer duration of trekking days and a maximum elevation of 5130m at Ganja-La Pass. A daily average walking hour is 6 to 8 on this trek. Unlike other famous trekking regions of Nepal, Ganja-La Pass is still considered off the beaten and this is a fully camping based trek. Physically challenging due to the higher elevation, involves daily trekking of approximately 6 – 8 hours. No previous trekking experience is required but you should be moderately fit and must enjoy walking and adaptable to high altitude conditions.

The best time to trek to the Ganja-La Pass are Autumn (from October to November) and Spring (from Mid March to May). The weather during these months tends to be clear and nice allowing us to enjoy the trekking to the fullest, and temperatures will drop considerably as you ascend higher every day. The nights are cold (between -10C to 5C) and the days are sunny and hot (between 10C to 20C). Mornings are usually clear, with clouds building up in the afternoon and disappearing at night.

Nepal visa can be obtained on arrival at Kathmandu airport (Tribhuvan International Airport) or you can obtain Nepal visa prior to your arrival through the Nepalese embassies, diplomatic missions and consulates near your location. Nepal Visa is also issued at the entry points if you are entering Nepal by land. Here are the visa fees:

For additional visa extension – USD 3 for each additional day

To get a Nepal visa, you will need the following documents:

• Two recent passport-sized photographs with a light (white) background.
• Cash (USD) depending on the number of days you plan to stay in Nepal.
• A passport valid for at least six months.

Yes, as per the new policy, Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) is required to trek in all areas. You will need a National Park/Conservation Entry Permit. Nepal has ten National Parks and three Wildlife Sanctuaries such as Bardiya National Park, Khaptad National Park, Langtang National Park, Makalu-Barun National Park, Shivpuri-Nagarjun National Park, Banke National Park, Sagarmatha National Park, Chitwan National Park, Shey-Phoksundo National Park, Rara National Park and one Hunting Reserve such as Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, Parsa Wildlife Reserve, Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve, Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve. We have 5 Conservation Areas such as Api Nampa Conservation Area, Annapurna Conservation Area, Gaurishankar Conservation Area, Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, Manaslu Conservation Area. Some controlled areas such as Manaslu Trek, Upper and Lower Dolpa Trek, Kanchenjunga Area Trek, Mustang Trek, Mugu Trek, Darjula, Nar and Phu Village Trek, Tsum Valley Trek require a special trekking permit issued by Immigration through a trekking agency.

It’s mandatory and highly recommended to get travel insurance before embarking on any adventurous trips in Nepal. We advise all our clients to get travel insurance that covers up emergency helicopter evacuation that may be needed in case of the occurrence of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) or any other reasons in high altitudes where there are no other means of transportation available. All of our guides are full-time employees, not freelancers, and are local experts fluent in English. They have extensive knowledge of the mountain, its people, culture, health, hygiene, and most importantly, your safety.

The leaders/guides have many years of guiding experience throughout Nepal, India, Bhutan and Tibet. Most of them have been exploring the country for years. Our guides are trained in first aid and know how to handle any situation. All our guides speak fluent English and are happy to share their in-depth knowledge of the culture, geography, flora, festivals, lifestyle of the Nepalese with you. We believe and stand by the idea that it is not enough to take visitors to special places or special cultures, we must provide guides who can engage, explain well and entertain people in what they are experiencing. They know very well how to conduct a comfortable and safe journey while appreciating the beauty of the Himalayas. All our staff are fully insured for any mishaps. Our porters carry 25 to 30 kg. Their direct experience, local knowledge, expertise and humor are invaluable in trekking.

You will only carry your day pack which will contain the essentials needed during the trek (water, camera, extra fleece, rain jacket, sunscreen, snacks, valuables etc.). The rest of your luggage will be carried by the porter. We provide 1 porter for every 2 participants and also provide a duffel bag to hold your trekking gear.

In this remote area, there are very few teahouses or home stay accommodations; that is why we chose to offer camping treks.

At our campsites, we will provide you with a comfortable tent and sleeping mat, a toilet tent and a dining tent. There will also be a kitchen tent where the camp chef will prepare delicious meals and boil hot water for drinking. While we try to make everything as comfortable as possible for you, make no mistake, this is tough camping where there are no amenities other than what we carry. It is customary to tip your guides and porters on a trek to appreciate the wonderful people who help make your trek enjoyable and comfortable. Please note, 100% of your tips go to the staff.

We recommend the following:

Tip the guide 10% of your trip cost.
Tip the assistant guide 6% of your trip cost.
Tip the chef 8% of your trip cost.
It is customary to tip porters a total of USD120 per porter.

Tips for guides and crew members are divided by the number of hikers on the trip i.e. if you are three hikers, you pay USD40 per porter.
