Numbur Cheese Circuit Trekking is a fairly new route for passionate trekkers, established in the Ramechhap district of eastern Nepal. The trail is named after the beautiful Mt. Numberchuli (6,959 meters) and the first Yak cheese factory established here in 1957 AD. It is one the budding trek trails of the Gauri Shanker Conservation Area (GCA) carrying huge potential for tourism.
Connecting two lovely rivers, Likhu and Khimti in the lap of the Everest and Rowaling region, this trek route is famous for the picturesque view of the hills and mountains it offers. 17-Days Numbur Cheese Circuit Trek Itinerary
We recommend that you schedule your arrival in Kathmandu in the morning or afternoon. This will give you enough time to relax and recover from jet lag before starting your adventure. Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel where you will be served welcome drinks. After you have freshened up, your trek guide will brief you about your trip in the lobby of your hotel in the evening.
Get familiar with your surroundings by taking a walk down the street. Visit to Thamel, the main tourist hub.

In the morning, you visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Boudhanath and Pashupatinath, as part of a guided sightseeing tour. The tour lasts approximately 3 to 4 hours. In the afternoon, you will be briefed about your upcoming adventure. If you have any doubts, check your equipment and visit the Swayambhunath Monkey Temple near your hotel. Today, the trail moves onward from Shivalaya to Khahare, escalating and dwindling all along the valley side. You will be able to enjoy the view of terraced pastures and falls to go through the river, then turns sharply up the cliff on the other part. Khahare is a small village populated only in winter, by residents of higher altitude, who move up with their cattle in the summer. Where, you will make lunch break. After lunch, you will travel to Panipakakha, first campsite of your trek, from small river with Shivalaya. It is a temperately plain camping area midst the scattered Chauri sheds and the lofty alpines. Exploring this beautiful place and observe the dazzling sunset in the mountains and take photographs. Today the track goes through a tiny Sherpa settlement called Phokte. The path mounts through the majestic rhododendron forests to the summertime fields of Manedanda. Today, you will hike for about 5 hours, today on a detailedtrack to reach Panch Pokhari. Etymologically, Panch Pokhari means five lakes. There are five lakes here, considered to be very holy at the height of 4200m. You can here visit the religiously important temple of lord Shiva guarded by the sharp iron tridents.The trail now ascents to Jata Pokhari. Along the high altitude, you will walk across the high pastures to meagerforest of Sunpati, arare mountain herb. Right before you'll reach Jata Pokhari, you will come across a beautiful waterfall where you can play with the fresh mountain water. Located in the lap of Mt. Numburchuli, Lake Jata Pokhari is a famous pilgrimage in Ramechhap. On months of June and July, on full moon days, hundreds of Hindu believers come to worship the lord Shiva. Today, you will cross the pass at height of 4600m and move downhill to reach Thare. On your way, you will walk through Khola Kharka and hike further downward to Nupche River passing overdense bamboo woods. You can have some fresh and yummy cheese here and observe the cheese making process in this part of the world. You can rest in the green pasture on the bank of the Nupche River before heading to your eco-camping spot for the night. Overnight at a tented camp in Tare.

Today you will hike from Thare to Linkhu Khola valley. The hike is a bit challenging but extremely rewarding. You can enjoy the view of the beautiful hills and mountains, dwindling rivers. The views of himalayansmagnify from north into Tibet as you will go through the Gyajo La, also known as Thulo Lapcha at 4880m, a path normally used by native Sherpas to get yaks through the peaks to Rakhidanda and Ngeju. You will now continue your trek further down from the Likhu glacier and vastdebris. The trek downhill from the Likhu glacier will lead you to Ngeju (3,690m). Stay overnight at tented camp in Ngeju).

From Gumdel you will move forward crossing the thick and beautiful forest to arrive at Serding. Today you will leave Serding for Lapchane via Thotung. You will visit Thodung Monastery on your way back. You will further move downhill to Deurali from where you can see the breathtaking view of the Gauri Shankar Mountain. On reaching Lapchane, You will Homestay or tent cam at a local Newari house where you will be able to be a part of the renowned Newari culture. Then you can go for a brisk from hike to Tamdanda, which is 30 minutes away from Lapchane. It is famous as the tallest hill in Ramechhap. From the hill you can observe colossal Dhaulagiri, Gauri Shankar, Annapurna, Numbur, Kanchenjunga and more. (Overnight at a tented camp/Home-Stay in Lapchane).
