Tamang Heritage Trek is an exciting trek into the Himalayas that offers travelers a peek into the every-day lives of the Tamang people who are Nepalese mountain dwellers of the Langtang region. The 13-day trip begins in Kathmandu. You drive to Syabrubesi and begin trekking into the mountaneous region. DETAILED ITINERARY
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal. After completing the visa formalities and collecting your luggage, kindly proceed to the exit of the arrival hall. Our representative will await you just outside the arrival hall and will escort you to your hotel in Kathmandu. We recommend that you schedule your arrival in Kathmandu in the morning or during the day. This will give you enough time to relax and recover from jet lag before starting your adventure. There will be a trip briefing later at 5:00 pm. And it will be done by your lead guide, covering all the important aspects of the trip. If you have any doubts, check your equipment and visited to Thamel, the main tourist hub. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

From Kathmandu, you will take a 8 –hour scenic drive to Syabru Besi, a little trading town for the Langtang area. After driving for 30 km, you'll approach pristine villages on the banks of the river Trishuli. From there you also get to view the enthralling panorama of the Himalayas, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and peaks of the Langtang region.

Your trek starts from today. From Syabrubesi, you hike across the Goljung Village enjoying views of the Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma, Langtang Lirung and others. Gatlang is a small village on the hillside with traditional stone houses. Overnight at Gatlang.

You begin today’s trek with a descent to Thangbuche and soak-in magnificent views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang Ranges along the way. Next, pass by the Chilime Hydropower dam and ascend until Tatopani. The name Tatopani literally means ‘hot water’ in Nepali owing to the natural hot springs there. However, the hot springs are no longer there after the earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015.

Today your trek from Tatopani to Thuman via Brimdang and Nagthali. Passing through the dense alpine forest, you reach the small Tamang settlement of Brimdang. From here, it’s a few hours walk uphill until Nagthali hill. Here, you enjoy the mesmerizing views of Langtang, Sanjen,Kerung and Ganesh Himal. Next, trek downhill to the Tamang village of Thuman and spend the night.

Today, your trek to Briddim from Thuman via Lingling. Briddim is a Tibetan Buddhist village, ideally located on the lap of the Langtang Himal. Here, you visit the Dukchu Gomba monastery. In Briddim, you notice that most of the houses are built by stones and are inhabited mostly by people of Tibetan origin. Briddim in fact, resembles a typical Tibetan village on this side of Tibet.

After breakfast your trek from Briddim to Lama Hotel. The trail descends to Ghopche Khola which is a small stream. Then, ascend to Lama Hotel via Rimche. Lama Hotel is located on the banks of the Langtang River and surrounded by lush forests and amazing mountain vista. Overnight in Lama Hotel.

After breakfast, your trip to the Langtang Village. Your trail continues alongside dense forests. After climbing up steadily through the valley, you leave the tree line behind you. On the way, you also enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung, pass by water mills, prayer wheels and chortens adorned with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them.

Today you leave Langtang village and walk through yak pastures. Today, you also pass the largest mani wall in Nepal which is made from stone with prayers written on them. It is believed that the prayers on the mani wall spreads around by blowing winds. You will cross several wooden bridges before reaching Kanjin Gompa which is beautifully surrounded by the mighty Himalayas. You can take a walk around the Kanjin Gompa enjoying astounding views of glaciers, icefalls, birds and yaks.

From Kyanjin, you will return to the Lama Hotel. As you retrace your steps, you follow the Langtang Khola to Langtang village. The trail winds through birch, pine, and rhododendron forest and eventually reaches Ghora Tabela. You stop briefly for lunch and then continue the steep descent to the Lama Hotel. The trail becomes steeper and passes through thick forest from Ghodatabela and the settlements of Thyangsyap and Rimche before reaching the Lama Hotel. It takes 6-7 hours to reach Lama Hotel from Kyanjin Gompa.

Today is the last day of the trek. You will walk through the terraced field and green hills to reach Syabrubensi. En route, enjoy the rewarding views of the mighty mountains, Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal. Walking through the uphill forest of oak and hemlock, you will then gradually decline towards the rhododendron forest and pastures to reach the ridge at Phoprang Danda. Gently climbing the uphill, you will pass through a few Buddhist monasteries and reach Syabrubensi village.

On your way back to Kathmandu, it’s a seven-hour, easy-going cruise through a scenic highway and typical countryside. The road is rough and winding in the first half until Trishuli. Following the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli riverside, the route passes through terraced hills and scenic valleys. A 7-8 hour drive from Syabrubesi takes you to Kathmandu. After getting to Kathmandu, you’ll check into your hotel, and for the rest of the day, you are free to chill out and reflect on a wonderful trip.

- Kathmandu is Nepal's capital, since this place offers high quality and delicious food from different countries and groups, we were hoping you could taste the food you like. For that reason, during your stay in Kathmandu, you will have to arrange lunch and dinner (except farewell dinner) yourself.
- Suppose you want to take any packed food, snacks, aerated drinks, energy drinks, mineral water, and carbonated soft drinks, any types of alcohol, cigarettes, chocolates, and nutria-bars during the trek. In that case, you have to buy it yourself as a customer often requires these items during the trekking. No, and there is no guessing how much it will take by the client and its cost.
- Expenses incurred towards usage of Items of personal nature trekking equipment, laundry expenses, tips, Landlines, mobiles, walkie-talkies, satellite phones, and the internet service exclude in the package. You have to pay for it yourself when you use it.
- Trekking is, in itself, an adventurous activity that always takes place in remote areas. So, safety is the primary factor for us. Therefore, you have to have your travel insurance covering the cost of emergency rescue, medical treatment, medical tests, and hospitalization before you arrive for the trip to Nepal.
- The package, does not include your international flight ticket and Nepal's tourist visa, so that you have to pay for your international flight ticket and tourist visa yourself.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
For your information, international flights and Nepal’s “entry visa fee” are not included. Rooms are usually shared by two people unless you request a private room. So if you want to upgrade to better hotels in the cities, please contact us for your customized services.
NEPAL VISA INFORMATION
Visa on Arrival: Most nationalities can obtain a visa upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu.
Visa Fees: A 15-day multiple-entry visa costs USD 30, a 30-day visa costs USD 50, and a 90-day visa costs USD 125.
Application Process: Visitors should fill out a visa application form, which is available online or at the airport, and provide a passport-sized photo and payment in cash.
Requirements: A valid passport with at least six months remaining validity and a blank page for the visa stamp is required. Ensure you carry sufficient USD cash for the visa fee as not all payment methods are accepted.
MEALS
Breakfast will be served in Kathmandu whereas all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be provided during the trek. While trekking, you can enjoy Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the lodge menu where you spend the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination.
ACCOMMODATION
You will be accommodated in hotel Vajra in Kathmandu and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional. AlpineTrav Treks will arrange rooms with attached washrooms; however, teahouses in some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities.
TEAM COMPOSITION
For the Langtang region Trek, there will be one guide, assistant guide (4 trekkers: 1 assistant guide) and porters for luggage carrying. This arrangement ensures that even if someone in the group gets sick or is unable to carry on, the trip can still go ahead as planned for the rest of the group. We can run the trek for groups of any size, but usually a maximum of twelve people is ideal as we’ve found this to be the optimum size for a successful trip for teahouse/ camping trekking.
