Embark on our amazing 14-day Langtang Valley Trek with Ganja la Pass Trekking that takes you to the famous Langtang region and the Ganja La pass(5122m/16,800 ft). You will start the adventure with a day’s bus or Jeep ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. 14-Day Ganja La High Pass Trek Itinerary
We recommend that you schedule your arrival in Kathmandu in the morning or afternoon. This will give you enough time to relax and recover from jet lag before starting your adventure. Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in to the hotel, visit the Swayambhunath monkey temple near Hotel Vajra. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

Today after breakfast, you start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu which are also listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. You will visit the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the largest stupas in the world. At evening, you will be briefed about your upcoming adventure. If you have any doubts, check your equipment and visited to Thamel, the main tourist hub. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

From Kathmandu, you will take a 8 –hour scenic drive to Syabru Besi, a little trading town for the Langtang area. After driving for 30 km, you'll approach pristine villages on the banks of the river Trishuli. From there you also get to view the enthralling panorama of the Himalayas, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and peaks of the Langtang region.

After breakfast, you'll begin your trek to Syabrubesi along the Langtang Khola. You will ascend and descend simultaneously through oak and rhododendron forests. After crossing a bridge over the Langtang Khola (small river), you'll ascend on a steep trail which will lead you to the Lama Hotel. Overnight in Lama Hotel.

After breakfast you will continue ascending from Lama Hotel and enjoy the mountain landscape with abundant waterfalls. As you'll reach the green meadows of Ghoda Tabela, you'll begin to see the white peaks of the Langtang range. Your trail continues to climb up the widening valley, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders. You will pass a Buddhist monastery before reaching the Langtang village which was affected by the April 2015 earthquake. You'll continue on your trail to Mundu. Overnight in Mundu.

After breakfast, you will start your journey to Kyangjin Gompa, a principal monastery of the region. You'll pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. You'll pass by the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them. After the short trek, you spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the Buddhist shrine in Kyangjin Gompa and surrounding areas with the amazing views of the mountains.

After morning tea and breakfast, you get out of the village and pass on through yak pastures and start hiking up to Tserko Ri (5000m/16,404ft) for mountain sunrise views. Since, you are really getting into the high altitudes, you might start feeling the thin air hitting you. In the afternoon, you'll return to Kyanjin Gompa- surrounded by the Himalayas all around. After breakfast in Kyangjin Gompa, you head towards Ganja La Phedi, firstly crossing the Langtang River. Then, you will ascend through the trails amidst rhododendron forests while gradually gaining altitude level. At times, you need to walk through snow-paved trail, especially during cold seasons. You reach the base of the Ganja La Pass and set up your tents to spend the night. Overnight camping at Ganja La Phedi.

Today is a very crucial day as you will cross the Ganja La Pass. After breakfast, you follow a long ascending trail, and the hike would be a bit challenging. The pass is covered with snow almost throughout the year. You might require fixing ropes at certain places as you make long ascents through boulders and cross small lakes before reaching the summit of Ganja La Pass that is situated on a rocky moraine. From the top, you get to enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Naya Kanga, Ganja La Peak, and several other high mountains. Then, you gradually start descending down to Keldang from the glacier through moraines. After descending for a couple of hours, you will reach a meadow, which is an excellent campsite on the flat valley below the glacier. Overnight tented camping at Keldang.

Leaving Keldang after breakfast in your camp, you descend following a prominent ridge line. During today’s hike, you gradually lose altitude through forests, ridges, farmlands, lush terraces, and grasslands. You finally reach Yak Kharka after about 6 to 7 hours hike through undulating paths. In the past, there were no accommodation facilities here and trekkers had to sleep at camps, but recently few teahouses have come up at this place. Overnight at tented camping or teahouse in Yak Kharka.

From Yak Kharka, you follow mostly descending trails losing altitude, considerably about 1,500m (4,921ft.). The trail would be similar, except that as you descend lower, you will notice more vegetation. You pass through numerous Sherpa villages before reaching Tarke Ghyang, popularly known as Helambu. Overnight at teahouse/ tented camping at Tarke Ghyang.

After breakfast today, you cross a small forest along easy trails with beautiful views of the Helambu region. After 2 hours of gentle walk, you reach the amazing valley of Gngyul, a charming Sherpa village. After exploring the village for a while, you head towards Sermathang. In the evening, you visit the local village as well as an old Buddhist monastery. Tented Camp in Sermathang.

All meals are included during the trekking period. We will provide three meals a day (B,L,D) during the trek. Since this is a full camping trek, our kitchen crew will serve freshly prepared meals during the trek. We consider hearty and delicious meals as a key component to the overall success of our trip. Your accommodation during the trekking period will be fully tented camping. A tent will be provided for every 2 travellers with a foam mattress. In the case of a single, we will arrange a single tent for you by default at no additional cost. There will also be a kitchen tent, dining tent, toilet tent, table, chairs, and more for your comfort. Our trekking team will carry all of the tent equipment for your worry-free and easy journey.
