NAGARKOT VIEW TREK OVERVIEW

Nagarkot View Trek is an incredible trek with great views of the majestic mountains. It is a short and easy trek suitable for every fitness level. Incredible sunrise and sunset views with great views of green farmland. During this trek, you will walk through various tribal settlements with different lifestyles and their distinct cultures and visit the most beautiful Namobuddha monastery in the world, listed as a UNESCO heritage site. Each destination you trek to in these 7 days, you will get a different captivating experience.

The entire trek route is secluded and lonely. Nagarkot is the only one that is a bit busy in terms of easy access by driving from Kathmandu. You will be trekking mostly inside the Shivpuri National Park. The richest flora and fauna with blooming rhododendrons. The area is also rich in a variety of birds. Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani on the first day. Chisapani, situated at 2,194 meters, offers views of the picturesque mountain ranges of Langtang and several local villages. Nagarkot at an altitude of 2,175 is another great view of the mountains and sunrise. The trek to Dhulikhel through the local villages with their unique style of houses and the magnificent views of the green rice terraces makes your trek even more enjoyable.

Dhulikhel is at an altitude of 1,550 meters with views of the mountain ranges and villages. Good accommodation is available in Nagarkot, Dhulikhel and Balthali. Simple hotels will be available for a night in Chisapani. Apart from this, Namobuddha is a sacred place with one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery is located on the top of the mountain with beautiful mountain views. Take a tour around the large monastery premises. Trek to Balthali village. Spend the night on the top of the mountain in Balthali which again offers views of the Himalayas.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

We recommend that you schedule your arrival in Kathmandu in the morning or during the day. This will give you enough time to relax and recover from jet lag before starting your adventure. Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in. You will be briefed about your upcoming adventure. If you have any doubts, check your equipment and visited to Thamel, the main tourist hub. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

Day 02 :

Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani 2,194m/ 5hrs

After your breakfast, you drive to Sundarijal. The drive is about an hour. Sundarijal is the major water supply spot for people in Kathmandu as well as a good picnic spot. From here you start your climbing uphill route towards Chisapani via a dense forest of Shivapuri National Park. Enjoy the spectacular view of the Himalayas, forests, and villages with beautiful paddy fields. Few local villages with the settlement of Nepalese indigenous peoples. The place is also rich in flora fauna and wildlife.

Day 03 :

Trek to Nagarkot 2195m/ 5-6hrs

Today on this trail start is a gentle downhill walk through a newly constructed unpaved road. The whole walk will take you inside Shivapuri National Park. You have beautiful views of spectacular Himalayas as well. Beautiful sounds of birds and streams next to you will also add more fun to the trip. You stop in a small village called Jhule for lunch before continuing further to Nagarkot. You will pass through several villages in the hills before climbing steep uphill to reach Nagarkot. Nagarkot is a tourist hill station near Kathmandu. facilities of simple to deluxe hotels are available here.

Day 04 :

Explore Himalayas and sunrise view from Nagarkot. Trek down to Dhulikhel 5hrs

Early in the morning, where you can enjoy the greatest dawn views of the Himalayan mountain range, which includes Mount Everest, Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and many more, in a stunning setting. Then, trek from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel is very easy, with a little uphill but is mostly downhill. It is beautiful walking through in the countryside of Nepal’s rural villages. You will experience the beauty of nature altogether rural lifestyle and diverse culture. Once you reach at Dhulikhel, option to walk further to Bhagawati temple. The Bhagawati temple is situated at a height in the western part of Dhulikhel and dominates the skyline. From here, you can get a beautiful vista of the town and surrounding areas.

Day 05 :

Trek to Namobuddha - Balthali 1730m/ 3hrs

One of the most blessed Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal. It is about 3 hours' walking until the monastery. Visit the monastery and have lunch. Trek through the local villages and terraced farmlands. Mountain views are stunning on the way of the trek. Visit Thrangu Tashi Monastery in Namo Buddha which is the home of Buddha. Further trek to Balthali. Take a short walk downhill to the rural villages. From here, continue walking through fields and orchards to the quiet village of Balthali. Here again, there are amazing views of the mountains, farmland, and villages. Overnight at the hillside of this village.

Day 06 :

Short trekking to Khopani - Panauti and drive back to Kathmadnu

Today, the last day of the trek, start a short trek to Khopasi, then visit Panauti and drive to Kathmandu. Most of today’s trek is on dirt roads, passing beautiful small villages, terraced fields and amazing views. A car will be waiting for you there. Where you can explore the classic Newari town of ancient temples and monuments. Panauti is one of the best preserved Newari towns, waiting to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Drive to Kathmandu, finish the trek.

Day 07 :

Departures or join optional activities

This is your last day on the Nagarkot View Trek in Nepal, when our representative will assist you with last minute preparations and drive you to the airport to return to your hometown. NEPAL VISA INFORMATION

Visa on Arrival: Most nationalities can obtain a visa upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu.
Visa Fees: A 15-day multiple-entry visa costs USD 30, a 30-day visa costs USD 50, and a 90-day visa costs USD 125.
Application Process: Visitors should fill out a visa application form, which is available online or at the airport, and provide a passport-sized photo and payment in cash.
Requirements: A valid passport with at least six months remaining validity and a blank page for the visa stamp is required. Ensure you carry sufficient USD cash for the visa fee as not all payment methods are accepted.

Useful Information

For your information, international flights and Nepal’s “entry visa fee” are not included. Rooms are usually shared by two people unless you request a private room. So if you want to upgrade to better hotels in the cities, please contact us for your customized services.

Meals on the trek

During your Nagarkot area Trek, you can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the tea-houses or from a lodge menu where you spend the night where as lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available while in Kathmandu.

Accommodation on the trek

For your 4-night stay on the trek, the hotel in Chisapani is a simple but tourist standard hotel available locally. Apart from that, there is a 3-star hotel/resort in Balthali. Chisapani and Balthali do not have the option to upgrade the hotels. However, Nagarkot and Dhulikhel have the option to upgrade the hotels to 4 or 5 stars. However, in our package cost, 3-star hotels are included in both these places. Similarly; Available for 2 nights accommodation at Hotel Vajra in Kathmandu with breakfast.

Typical day on trek:

Daily wake up calls will be between 6.00 am to 7.00 am while on the trek. The wake-up time and breakfast time will be decided a night before during the briefing time. The time table for each day will entirely depend on your walking duration for that particular day.

After a hearty breakfast, you set off on the day’s walk. Before breakfast, you are required to pack your duffel bag as it will be loaded by the porter while you are having your breakfast. After few hrs, of walk, you stop for lunch mid-day. The afternoon’s walk is generally shorter and you usually arrive at your destination in time for afternoon tea. The rest of the afternoon can be spent exploring the village, to wash your clothes or simply relaxing with a good book. On some days, you will arrive at your destination by lunchtime and the entire afternoon will be free. After dinner, you will heading off to bed for a well-earned sleep.
