Highlights include spectacular sunrises and sunsets, immersion in Sherpa culture, and trekking through rhododendron and pine forests.
The 10 days Pikey Peak trek takes you to one of the tallest hills and the best vantage point in the Sherpa homeland of the lower Khumbu region. Pikey Peak offers the most amazing broad views of the eastern and western Himalayas in Nepal.
From Kathmandu take a long drive to Lower Solukhumbu district. Upon reaching a small village called Dhap, begin the trek to Sigane or Japre village following subalpine forest. First views of Mt. Everest and the Numbur Himalayan range can be seen from Japre.
After spending a night at Japre, trek to Pikey Peak Base Camp. Mostly the trail is deserted and peaceful, with views of the Everest region mountains getting closer. Passing grassy ridge and old yak herders house, reach the base camp for the night stay.
Before dawn, on the fourth day, climb the much-awaited Pikey Peak summit at 4,065m/13,336ft. Amazing views of the eastern region mountains include Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, and the western region mountains like Annapurna, Manaslu Dhaulagiri are visible. Enjoying the views, descend to the base camp, then continue the trek downhill to Jasmane Bhanjyang. Visit the local cheese factory and the ruins of an ancient gompa. Descend toreaching Junbesi for an overnight stay.
